i was planning to buy this book (the count of monte cristo)
is there a particular unabridged version that you would recommend i buy?

I enjoyed the Penguin Classics edition translated by Robin Buss, who also wrote a great introduction.

I agree. The Penguin one by Buss is very good. Always go for the unabridged.
