So I started reading the Scorpio Races last night and got about 150 pages in. This book is AMAZING. I had a doctors appointment today, so I took the book with me to the car so I could read it while waiting at the doctor office (yep, just the norm right?)

So my 2 year old son is a wiggle worm and the door refused to unlock with my key fob, so, in frustration I tossed the book on top of the car, secured my son in his car seat, then jumped in the passenger side and we took off.

About 4 minutes down the road panic began to sink in: I left my book on top of the car! We dropped the kids off and circled back toward the house and there it was, in the middle of the intersection, still perfectly new.

Then a car pulled out in front of us and ran it over.

HORRIBLE START TO THE DAY! The cover sleeve is ragged and, upon inspection, the front cover is split into about four uneven sections. Other than that, and the black tire tread that lines the outside edge of the book, it survived. I am still reading it and am thrilled that it wasn't ruined but I feel so bad for my poor new book.

(I left a cake on the roof of my car too on the way to a friends house just a few weeks ago. I circled the block, and a mini van was parked on top of it. Not joking at all, the front right driver side tire was smashing the cake pan and icing was leaking everywhere.)

Anyone else had this happen or am I the only person who leaves shit on top of the car?

OMG!!! You had me dying laughing! I even told my mom your story and we had a long laugh together(No pun intended sorry!)! But that is hilarious, I haven't left anything on the top of my car yet but I wouldn't wish this on anybody lol. But it could have been worse,at least it wasn't a kindle or nook.I would have killed myself if it was an electronic because a book is really cheap to replace. I hope your day gets better!

Thanks for everyone support! I had a good laugh about it the rest of the day. However this is exactly why I have $20 cell phones from wal-mart, and I am not allowed to have a kindle or any other type of electronic. lol I literally am death to electronics.

Emily Ladouceur (emilyl4) | 2 comments I've done that! And to prevent the destruction of another of my belongings I try to put the item on my hood next to the windshield wipers so I see it once I sit in the drivers seat. I really can't afford to replace any more of my stuff.

I've never left a book (or anything else) on top of the car, but I left a library book sitting on the couch one time, and our dog (<----), just a puppy then, chewed it to shreds. So yep, I had to buy the library a new book :(

Awww...bad puppy, poor book

Derrolyn Anderson I've dropped a brand new paperback into the tub once... I suppose that's better than a radio or something. I just hate it when the pages get all wibbly!

Tawna | 479 comments I've left stuff on top of the car before. Like a fountain soda and when I reversed the thing smashed into my windshield scaring the crap out of me and ruining my soda!!!

Also, I've locked my keys in my car twice in one day! Once when I got to work, then I got in my car and stopped at the gas station and locked them in again!! It was ridiculous.

message 9: by NayNay (new)

NayNay Yeah I had that happen but it was my purse on the back bumper. I went grocery shopping and put my purse on the bumper while putting the groceries in the trunk. Done, Jumped in the car, Drove away. About three blocks away I see red lights, a police car instructing me to pull over....yep he had a good laugh, said that was the first time he had to pull a car over to retrieve a purse from the bumper. But that's okay that's how I met my Husband.

Annalise Grey yeah I left a cup of coffee that suddenly spilled down my windshield as I stopped at a stop sign. my kids thought it was hilarious. "mommy! the rain looks like your coffee!!" and "why is there brown stuff pouring down your window?"

message 12: by NayNay (new)

NayNay Yes my husband thinks so too...we have been married 23 yrs and every x-mas I get a new purse and a lecture about putting it in the car on the seat before putting groceries in the trunk.

I love your "meet cute" story! I've been married 23 years too... Looks like '88 was a VERY good year!

NayNay Thanxs ladies....I think it's pretty awesome too I found a good husband and he is a great father. That certainly was one of the best days of my life.

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 197 comments Oh no, say it isn't so. But now you have a story to go with your scared book that will take you back in time.

message 18: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Scott (michellescottfiction) Great story, Naynay!!

Yes, I've left stuff on the top of my car before, too... There was a story in the newspaper a few years ago about a local university professor who left his *baby* on the top of the car. Thank God, the infant wasn't too horribly injured.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Ohmygosh! I have never left my kids on top of the car. Thankfully I'm too short and don't have enough upper body strength to even get them on top of my PT Cruiser.

My daughter, Kaciah is 3 and my son Logan is 2. Last year we had a costume party for Halloween and my best friend Courtney and my boyfriends buddy Ryan all went to the Halloween store to look for costumes. We took my son at the time, who was only 1. He was asleep in the shopping cart in his car seat and we were so excited to find a woman's sexy batman and robin costume that we ran to the dressing rooms and forgot little Logan in the middle of the main aisle. We were not even changed before we ran back and got them but everyone was looking at us like we were horrible parents. It was so embarrassing.

I always leave stuff on the top of the car shopping, my phone, anything I happen to have in my hand, I also drop things everywhere, if I lean over the edge of something guaranteed I will drop something over.... I once managed to somehow throw my phone into the air and it landed in a cup of apple juice! all because I was doing everything one handed whilst reading something on Wattpad!!!
