message 1055: by Nigina (last edited Aug 19, 2012 07:46AM) (new)

Nigina | 16 comments I have a lot of books on my Currently reading shelve, but I actually kind of lost interest in them, while I know that they will be great books so I won't put them on the To Read shelve :D. Either way, I'm in the middle of the book Destined by Aprilynne Pike. An amazing book, so far!

message 1056: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (nataliecrown) | 7 comments I've just started Divergent. I've heard conflicting things about it so I was intrigued. I'll admit that I'm not won over yet. I think it's almost TOO fast paced and the romantic pairing is way too heavy-handed for my taste BUT I'm not far into it so I'm hoping it will improve.

Despite my reservations...it's certainly an easy and addictive read.

message 1057: by Julie (new)

Julie (Julieeeeee) | 1 comments Hey I'm a newbie but love YA (not so much the fantasy stuff tho) so thought I'd join this group! I've just finished reading Pigeon English which I loved and am now half way thru The Code tree by Rosie Carter and am totally gripped! They're both books about urban life in London - PE is about a boy from Africa who comes to live there (it's really sad actually & the boys voice comes through so strongly that you really feel like you know him) and CT is about a girl living in East London - she has a dysfunctional home life etc but has just fallen in love with her bros best mate...really into it. I like reading grittier, true-to-life stuff but if anyone can recommend supernatural/fantasy stuff then I'm up for giving it a go!! :D

message 1058: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm rereading Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth and if it's even possible I think it's even better this time even though I don't think that's even humanly possible! I've been rereading a lot of books lately since my parents have started to get stingy about buying them for me but finally today I ordered The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass after reluctantly agrreeing to pay for it with my babysitting money... I've heard mixed things about The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass so I'm very curious! The cover is beautiful and even though that shouldn't matter to me, it sadly does. :)

Lady Im reading A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron . Its good so far!

message 1074: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm reading The Selection by Kiera Cass. I'm pretty sure I like it, but I'm still a little bit so-so on some things, for example the main Character America. (first off, her name is atrocious. just thought i'd put it out there.) She seems really arrogant conceited and self centered even though she seems to be starving. also--its a lot like The Hunger Games! in THG, Katniss is starving and so is America and they both become rich or more rich when they get selected for either The selection or the hunger games.

I couldn't really get in to Looking For Alaska so I returned it to the library and might pick it up sometime later this year. I checked out Before I Fall, which I've already read but want to read again, and The Summer I Turned Pretty, which looks pretty cheesy but you know, I'm in the mood for something cheesy.
