Separate editions

That is correct. In this case, they should be broken up into 3 sets:
1. The single volume edition.
2. the volume 1 of 2 edition.
3. The volume 2 of 2 edition.
Hope this clears it up.
I'm trying to separate the editions, but I get a "502 bag gateway" page :/

Try refreshing the page -- that will usually do the trick.
You may have to try a few times, though.

It isn't so easy: there are editions in 2, 3, 4 and 6 parts mixed up each other and with the full edition. I'm still working on the first part.

Someone just messed up "The Count of Monte Cristo" again, merging all the different editions, even if there were the librarian notes.

i don't want to mess up with your work, only to point out something about abridged version, discussed here:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/4...
because I saw some of your notes says "abridged edition".
if you meant abridged as "shortened version", but complete edition, it must be combined (by the current rule from the PTB).
if you meant abridged as "divided into several volumes" A, B, C, then use another term for that, to avoid confusion.
I used "abridged" as "shortened version". Should this book
http://www.goodreads.com/book/edit/36...
be combined with editions of "The Count of Monte Cristo" divided in 2 parts?
Some entries in World Cat
http://www.worldcat.org/search?qt=wor...
have Vincent LeRoger as the primary author, others Dumas.

If your research result that the french easy reading (lecture facile) edition was divided into 2 volumes, then yes, it should be combined with the 2 of 2 edition.
btw, some translated editions even divided into 4 volumes...

interesting work, no? :)

I asked in the post you linked, because of the huge differnce of pages. (thanks for the link btw, this is the first time I found shortened versions).

There is also a six part edition.
I read many years ago a shortened (juvenile) version *blush*. I should read the real one.

btw, in the discussion st was also mentioned that if the book in question is an adaptation case, it it should not be combined. just add notes that it is an adaptation, and the adaptor must be put as the primary author. that easy reading might be just one of such case?
but that's just my opinion. let see what the other (far more experienced than me) librarians says about that. :)
and my read is this one:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36...
not sure if it's the full version or the abridged one, but intimidated nevertheless...:)

a real "doorstopper" :)
I added it to my TBR list.

Don't forget to put "Easy Reader" in the Edition field, too, so other users, finding it on a search, know what it is.

ahahaha...it's an indonesian language edition are you sure you want to read it? :)
btw, i read your post in the "abridgement" thread, and the edition you asked turns out to be an adaptation for easy reader. no wonder the page count is so few, eh... :)
I was hoping someone could separate these two
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/72...
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/72...
from the other editions of The Count of Monte Cristo. They are volume 1 and 2 of a portuguese translation, but I've gathered single volume editions shouldn't be combined with multiple volumes editions, even if it is the same book. Is that right?
Also could you put them in a series? Not sure if it's the correct thing to do, but seems like the best way to keep them linked... ?
