Finished:
20-1. Franny & Zooey by J. D. Salinger (4/11); POST: It was not what I expected at all. I’ve heard the title a lot over the years but realized, once I started reading it, that I’d never heard anything about what the book was about or who the characters were. I’d heard that Zooey was the boy and that Franny was a girl and had assumed it was a love story. While reading it and once I finished I couldn’t and can’t decide if I liked it or not. However, I did come away feeling like – as I did when I read Catcher in the Rye in high school - that I read it at the perfect time in my life. Where either a character’s age or opinions or confusion fit where I am at the time of reading.

25.8 Don't Judge a Book by its cover:
Cover Liked:

Cover Disliked:

Reason: I actually disliked the cover available for the ebook version of Austenland due to its very cliche cartoon drawings. I actually had put the book off for a long while because of it. Ended up choosing it since it was going to become a movie with JJ Field as one of the men characters in it, and I quite like him. ;-) But overall, I liked the Jean Plaidy story of a young Queen Victoria more and was drawn to the edition by the cover because it was different than other novels about Victoria in that it didn't focus on her face and "queenly" appearance, but rather it made it seem like just any other girl from that time period, but yet you knew without ever seeing her face that she wished for freedom that wasn't given to her.

5-4. Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts (5/14)
5-7. Page Fright by Harry Bruce (4/25)
10-8. Born in Shame by Nora Roberts (5/20)
15-4. The Anglo Files by Sarah Lyall (5/5)
25-7. East Coast (Maryland) – The Last Boyfriend (Inn BoonsBoro Trilogy, #2) by Nora Roberts (5/9); West Coast (main characters tour the Pacific Northwest) – The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour (5/23)
25-8. The Hunger Games (#1) by Suzanne Collins (3/20); Savor the Moment (Bride Quartet, #3) by Nora Roberts (5/15); POST: THE HUNGER GAMES’ cover I like because it is simple, cool, striking and portrays a symbol that is very much a part of the individual novel and the series. It ties into the covers of the other two books in the trilogy with the symbol and the layout/style of lettering, etc.; SAVOR THE MOMENT has a cover of an ugly yellow wedding cake. The colors and image and the thing itself (a wedding cake) are not appetizing to me on a reading or food consumption level. I would not have picked it up except for the fact that it is the third in a quartet and I knew who the main characters were going to be and had already fallen in love with them, so despite the awful cover art I read it.
I enjoyed both of these novels, however I would have to say that I enjoyed THE HUNGER GAMES more. It is a more complex novel and has the better cover on top of having a more expansive plot.
