WhatShouldIRead Does anyone know of a website that will give you recommendations based on an author you like, i.e., if you like/read so-and-so, try so-and-so...? I used to have a link to a site but can't find it and I know there is at least one out there.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

Pragya (reviewingshelf) Goodreads!! Make a shelf based on what you like/ read and then click on Recommendation at the right top corner and then find recommendations based on that shelf!

Yue | 135 comments I would love to know that too. Besides GR, Amazon also offers you other books similar to the one you have selected, but that's all I know :S

Cheryl (cherylllr) Susan, I think I know the site you mean, the one that creates a cloud of associated names... then you can click on one of those names and get a cloud around that one, and so on? And it has a companion guide for music?

I never got good results there so I've forgotten the name of the site, sorry. But I am curious if that's the one you mean. Goodreads does give me way more books 'to-read' than I'll ever have time for (and in so many ways that I don't even use the recommendations!)

WhatShouldIRead Cheryl - I know exactly which site you mean and I have that one bookmarked but it is not the one I"m looking for. As I recall, there is a small cartoon Shakespeare on the site and you fill in the blank of the book/author you just read and 'he' finds other books in the same flavor.

Krystal (00krystal) | 132 comments http://www.tracknewbook.com/ has a feature where you can enter in what they call a "seed book"

On their main page: you change the dropdown menu from Author to SeedBook. Type in the name of the book you liked. Choose your language of choice and what formats you're looking for (print, e-book, etc). Then click the yellow Subscribe button. It will show a sample in the box below on the left. Then, in the box on the right, enter in your email address, choose how often you'd like to be emailed, then click Confirm.

It will then send you emails as often as you chose of any new books that pop up that are similar to the SeedBook you chose. It's not exactly what you were looking for, but it's a pretty good service. I personally use it to track new books by favorite authors and it works great for me. Their SeedBook feature is newer and still in Beta mode, so don't worry about a few bugs here and there. They'll work them out soon enough. :)

WhatShouldIRead Thanks for all the links. I've checked them out and some will do the trick perfectly!

But now one other question if I may: is there a site which lists books geographically? Say I want to find all kinds of books set in Cornwall, where can I look?

Thanks in advance. You guys are the best!

Goodreads has a list of settings:

http://www.goodreads.com/places

Bear in mind it is crowd-sourced with everything that implies.

Some users will bore in on the most specific setting - perhaps that might be Cornwall - while others will merely use "England" or "Britain" or whatever. So that complicates things a little.

Andrea | 1 comments I think the website you were searching for originally was probably http://www.bookseer.com
At least from your description, it sounds EXACTLY the same.

Jeremy | 194 comments http://www.gnooks.com/ also has the same setup with a cloud of similar author names.

My personal favorite source for book/series information and recommendations is http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/. If you search for an author name, you see two things at the bottom of the page - books that the author likes and additional authors that other fans of the author you selected liked.
The main body of the page shows a complete bibliography of the author's works with series listed in order, including titles and proposed publication dates for as-yet-unreleased works.
