Johnny | 3 comments Hi, my name is Johnny Payne, author of Kentuckiana and a number of other novels. I live in Alaska, but still write about Kentucky. Wherever I roam, Lexington still seems like the center of the literary world.

Johnny: It's great to here from you, and thanks for joining! Alaska is a long way to roam to ... it always strikes me as one of those fascinating, other-worldly sort of places. I hope Lexington Reads will provide a little sunshine on those dark nights!

I'm adding, Kentuckiana to my reading list. What's the population of Fairbanks now?

message 7: by Johnny (new)

Johnny | 3 comments Fairbanks is 60,000.

Kentuckiana is good, but I have three novels out in the past year. One is set in Lexington (Second Chance) and one is set in Kentucky and Ireland (Silver Dagger). They're available from www.stanleypublishing.com

I hope you'll check them out.

Thanks. I saw "Second Chance" on Amazon. I'll check out both. They both sound interesting! :D

Tiffany (tiffany315) | 4 comments Hi everyone: My name is Tiffany Simmons. I am an avid, passionate reader from Kentucky. As much as possible, I try to connect with other readers (and writers) in the Lexington area and support their efforts. Thanks for starting this group! This is yet another way for us readers and writers to connect.

Your welcome!

D.C. Hicks | 2 comments Hello everyone! My name is D.C. Hicks, and I recently published my debut novel, Catching the Westbound. I was born and raised in Indiana, but I must confess I love your part of the world. My grandparents were from Kendall Springs, KY, which is approximately forty-five miles east of Lexington. For my story, I fictionalized Kendall Springs by combining elements native to the area with some of husband's more Appalachian roots as his family came from West Virginia.

Harley (harley12) | 28 comments S.A.....I just downloaded"....Whirlwind...." and am looking forward to getting into it soon.
I already have several in progress, so it might be a few days until I can get started. After reading some of your early reviews....I might not be able to lay it down.
Good luck to you!
Welcome to Lexington..and the Goodreads group.

S.A.
I'm close to half way through "Whirlwind", and wanted to let you know that I'm really enjoying your work so far. I hadn't planned to begin reading it right away, but after downloading and skimming through the first couple chapters, I decided to read "just a little bit more". Then when the action started to kick in, I was hooked, and most everything else I should be doing, has taken a back seat since then.

Paul J. Kenyon (authorpaulie) | 2 comments Hi all, Paul J. Kenyon here. I've already finished my A-Z intro and I'm assuming this is the base where I can tell you about my series which is based in one of Kentucky's towns, Sloan. (Fictionally speaking that is.) I love the atmosphere small towns offer and wanted to write a series with the mention of one of American's smaller communities; Sloan won!

I'm offering the first book in the Cold Secrets series, "The Challenge" free on Amazon for the next two days.

Cold Secrets is the story of a retired San Diego undercover operative who moves to Sloan after the inheritance of an aunt's house. Vic Panada, who was instrumental in cleaning the force of crooked cops, moves to Sloan only to realize his retirement was premature after meeting a very shady constable. Vic's career wasn't over; there was one more badge that needed to be revoked. Don't be upset now! In the series, Sloan is depicted as a place anyone would want to live - after the removal of a few undesirables. Go to Amazon and pick up a copy of Cold Secrets - The Challenge by midnight Thursday and get acquainted with the story and me!
Happy reading!

Tonya Coffey (tonyacoffey) | 2 comments Hi everyone,
Just wanted to tell you local authors about my books. The series, A New World, Bk 1 Harvest Moon and Bk 2 Snow Moon are both out. Bk 3 Pink Moon will be released later in the year. They are based in the mountains of Kentucky. I've lived here in the far south my whole life and I love sharing stories about the county I grew up in.
Hope you pick one up and give it a read!
