He had three-five things happening at the same time, often in different time periods and worlds. However, he managed to keep me interested in all of them at the same time, even though I usually only care about one of the things when there are multiple ones. I think that's a testament to his brilliant writing.
Also, he masterfully wrapped up the series. Although I'd like to read more of the Nicholas Flamel books, he stopped it at the perfect moment and tied up all the loose ends nicely. Plus that huge secret that's revealed at the end that I didn't see coming yet made complete sense made it even better.
Definitely one of my favorite books, and it was well worth the $10 I spent on it.
