Who are you excited about seeing at BEA? Cara Lynn Shultz is high on my list!

message 2: by Taschima (new)

Taschima | 143 comments I know Julie Kagawa will be attending. Date and time I do not know however.

message 3: by Jessica | (new)

Jessica | The Drowned Page (thedrownedpage) | 119 comments Lois Lowry (for Son) will be there, she's doing one of the breakfasts for sure, but I guess she'd be on the floor too... I'm not sure what day though.

John Green will also be attending (I believe for The Faults in Our Stars), again, he's officially listed for the breakfast but I'm assuming he'll be on the floor at some point too, not sure which day.

I don't see Cara or Julie on the "official" list but that really doesn't mean anything, I'm excited that they'll both be there! :)

Stephanie (Stephs Stacks) (stephsstacks) | 108 comments Looks like Neil Young has a book out and he will be hosting an author lunch Wed. June 6th at noon.

Tuesday's (June 5th) author breakfast now includes Stephen Colbert (as MC), Junot Diaz, Barbara Kingsolver and Jo Nesbo.

message 5: by Christa (new)

Christa Seeley (christajls) Marissa Meyer confirmed on Twitter that she's going to be there. As well as Kady Cross!

Rebecca | 21 comments Does anyone remember how many weeks in advance they posted the full schedule last year? I can't remember, wish I did so I had an idea when to expect it this year.

Also saw in the publisher catalogue as well as on her website at some point that Shannon Hale will be there with ARCs of Princess Academy 2: Palace of Stone.

Lori Verni-Fogarsi | 1 comments Hi everyone! My novel, "Momnesia," will be at BEA, at the IBPA (Independent Book Publisher's Association) booth! Unfortunately, I am not able to attend in person, as I have not one, but two children both graduating from school on those very same days! However, my editor, Clarice Joos, will be attending on my behalf, and my book and ordering info will be on display!MomnesiaLori Verni-Fogarsi Have fun!

Christa Seeley (christajls) I just realized in my earlier comment I wrote Marissa Meyer but I meant Marissa Marr. Sorry for the confusion!

message 12: by Andrea (new)

Andrea King (andrea_king) Forgive a newby type question, but what is this Buzz panel? Something to attend? When?

message 13: by NorwegianBook (new)

NorwegianBook (norwegianbookgirl) | 16 comments Andrea wrote: "Forgive a newby type question, but what is this Buzz panel? Something to attend? When?"

There is a buzz - panel everyday, the time and place will be announced in the schedule for BEA when that is ready. The panel consists of editors and people from the Publishing companies. They have picked a couple of books that they believe will be big this year. I only attended the YA - buzz panel last year and found it really interesting. There are also ARCs for the books mentioned.

... no new book from the Soul Screamers series?

Ta§chima

Not so far as she reported--which is understandable, the 6th book is due out that week (or the week after I forget which exactly) and they won't give out ARC's of the final book (7) until the 6th book has been released at the very least. Though the omnibus has 'My Soul to Lose' included (the prequel SS).

Courtney Allison Moulten posted this to her blog:

Also, I will be signing copies of Wings of the Wicked at BEA (Book Expo America) in NYC this June, so if you'll be there come hang out with me! I'm signing on June 6th from 10-10:30am.

message 20: by Christa (new)

Christa Seeley (christajls) Kristin Cashore! Ah that made my entire day!
I also saw Julie Kagawa mention today that she was going to be there but she didn't know when/where

I am hoping Harlequin will have a signing with many authors. Last year they had a signing consisting of Julie Kagawa, Kady Cross and Gena Showalter, to name a few. I do hope they repeat that.

Jessica | The Drowned Page (thedrownedpage) | 119 comments Veronica Roth will be there!! So exciting. I have to figure out this whole MY BEA thing now that this list is up... I have to remember my password & figure out what is up with my computer because I'm logged in and stuff is selected that I've never even heard of before. o.O

@Megan: The only thing I'm worried for with Lois Lowry is that she'll be ticketed. Otherwise I AM SO THERE.

message 34: by Julia (new)

Julia (rrrobot) | 82 comments Mod
Just depends on the authors, I'm guessing. I know RL Stine was ticketed last year. I hope I get one of those this year. :)

message 35: by Christa (new)

Christa Seeley (christajls) Lexie wrote: "@Megan: The only thing I'm worried for with Lois Lowry is that she'll be ticketed. Otherwise I AM SO THERE."

Oh I forgot about ticketed authors! That may cut down on the authors I make it to.

message 36: by Lexie (new)

Lexie (poisonedrationality) | 657 comments Mod
@Megan: You can pretty assume the author breakfast/lunch participants are all ticketed, most celebrities (so Molly Ringwald :sigh: ), RL Stine and Lois Lowry I would expect to be, and then a hand full of really popular authors (Rick Riordan was last year for instance).

But yeah, they hand those out starting as early as 6am (and that line gets long real quick) and you only get a certain amount per day.

I arrived about 6:30am last year and didn't have a problem getting the tickets I wanted. I think the only one I missed was RL Stine and that's because I had to choose between him and someone else (sigh)

message 38: by Julia (new)

Julia (rrrobot) | 82 comments Mod
haha, yeah, they do.

message 39: by Jessica | (new)

Jessica | The Drowned Page (thedrownedpage) | 119 comments Does anyone know, if someone bought one of those Reader passes ($45 or $90 extras) where (it said) you get to pick the ticketed authors early, will that just be like a sign up for them online and be guaranteed to collect them when badges are picked up?

message 40: by Julia (new)

Julia (rrrobot) | 82 comments Mod
I have no idea. I didn't do that last year and I don't know anyone who did. Hopefully someone else here can answer your question! They must be a great deal because they sold out of them quickly this year

message 41: by Jessica | (new)

Jessica | The Drowned Page (thedrownedpage) | 119 comments I thought it would be good to get one for my first year (plus it's a tax write off, so that's cool). That way I don't have to worry about the $1 donations at every line since I already did my donating. :) I'm hoping someone knows about them.

message 42: by Julia (last edited Apr 18, 2012 12:15PM) (new)

Julia (rrrobot) | 82 comments Mod
Which one did you purchase? All the info is right on the BEA page in the autographing section. I'm sure they'll let you know when to choose your authors.

I just drop two twenties in the big donation box on my first day there so I take care of the donation thing all at once. :)

message 43: by Andrea (new)

Andrea King (andrea_king) I have a question about the times for the author signings. Let's say an author will only be signing on Thursday, but I will already be back home by then. Will that author's book be available to pick up during the week, or only during the signing time?

message 44: by Lexie (new)

Lexie (poisonedrationality) | 657 comments Mod
@Megan: I know they will put aside the tickets for you (I saw people picking them up that got the pass last year) but how they know is beyond me.

@Julia: Yep that's what I do. Its worth it to drop that much money at once knowing that a) I don't feel guilty for not donating and b) I don't have to carry a wad of ones in my pocket (which would likely get lost REAL easy)

message 45: by Lexie (new)

Lexie (poisonedrationality) | 657 comments Mod
One other word of warning when checking out the BEA author list--if you look to see what table/booth they're signing at, as of right now all Tables (1-25 or so) are listed as 'Booth'. The booths begin in the hundreds (most signings taking place in 3000 and above)

message 46: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 21 comments @Andrea - that depends on the book. Some books are only available at signings, while others also have unsigned copies put out in a big pile to take at the publisher's booth at various times. If there's a particular title you want to know about, you can usually just go to that publisher's booth and ask someone working there if there will be unsigned copies put out as well and they can usually tell you when/if there will be any.
