Jenny (notestothemoon) | 846 comments What was your worst read this year? Which books could you not get through?

message 2: by Elise (new)

Elise Ravenclaw (eliseravenclaw) For me, and I know some will disagree, it was Snow Falling on Cedars, I just couldn't get into it, too descriptive.
I also gave up on two other books: He Shall Thunder in the Sky: An Amelia Peabody Mystery, since I didn't know it was like the 5th book of a series and I just couldn't follow the characters and their stories.
And also: Highlander: The Captive Soul, the flashback was just too long and I didn't have enough time to read it in a sitting, I lost interest, I might give it another chance, since Highlander is my favorite TV series.

Allison (theallisonnelson) | 27 comments E, I tried reading Snow Falling on Cedars a little while ago and I couldn't do it.

Heidi I really struggled with (and didn't finish): Infinite Jest: A Novel, Mason & Dixon and Everything Is Illuminated: A Novel.

Of the books I read all the way through, my worst read was probably The Second Time Around: A Novel, by Mary Higgins Clark. It just wasn't very exciting...

Good to know I'm not the only one ;)

Terri (terrisa-uk) I tried reading Snow Falling on Cedars a while ago too - didn't finish it!

My worst book of the year was Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre. Depressing and hopeless!

Cecily | 576 comments I've read TWO really bad books this year. :-(

The Dream of a Beast by Neil Jordan. Pretentious, incoherent, surreal and somewhat nasty. See http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53...

Summer Things by Joseph Connolly. Unfunny and unreadable. I gave up after 20 something pages - something I never normally do. See http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/44...

I’ve never read any David Gutterson, and judging by the above, maybe I never will. He has some nice titles though!
