3. Why do we tell our children not to give into peer pressure regarding drugs, but then we do it to them with food?

Stephanie Cleary | 8 comments The problem with food is that it's not black and white like drugs are. We have to eat to survive, and even junk food will keep you alive. I also agree what the poster above said, that people are not yet fully educated about the dangers of our processed food society. I think that is at least going in the right direction with the education part, however getting people to actually realize what it is doing to them and how much better they will feel without it still has a long way to go.

Sue (ArmyVeteran) | 4 comments We were taught to "clean our plate" and then rewarded with dessert. Convenience foods became a part of everyday life--without knowledge of how anyone could make our everyday meal last that long on the shelf before we ate it (preservatives and additives). Now, hopefully, people are becoming more knowledgeable of food and quality--it show in the stores--more organics, whole foods, etc. We simply need to be "retrained" and it it "hard to teach an old dog new tricks".
