Tomb (tombsv) | 21 comments We should lure more niners to this group!

To do that, we should start mentioning the book club every #WednesdayBookclub. ;)

Good idea! I need to catch up on the books I've been lazy.

And we should probably have the great GeeseJuggler here as an administrator. I'm way too bad at keep this thing up and running. :/

Tomb (tombsv) | 21 comments ..and do something about the huge questionmark! :D

Indeed! Should we just "steal" the old io9-logo? With the futuristic girl?

Futuristic girl would be great!

I'd be happy to help with admin stuff if you'd like. I've been interested in doing that side of Goodreads but haven't had a chance yet. Let me know!

Added you as a moderator, @Kaila. ;)

Now to fix the big question mark, then update the book we read. More on that later. :)

Hello 'niners!

I loiter around the io9 Observation Deck a bit using the unlikely name of Pistachio Wildebeest, and it's nice to find you all here - and although I only know a few of your io9 names, I'm sure I've talked to many of you before!

I read disgracefully little in 2011, especially compared to the amount I used to read - so Goodreads is helping me change that in 2012. I read a bit of everything, but mostly SF - grew up on Clarke, Heinlein and Niven, and I like a lot of Baxter, Banks, Egan, Al Reynolds, that sort of thing. But I try to broaden my horizons every now and then.

If anyone would like to add me as a Friend, please go ahead and do so!

Chris.

Hi Chris! Good to see you on here. I don't actually post on io9, I just lurk and read everyone else's comments, hehe.

Jess (GJ) (gjwashburn) | 13 comments Hello, everyone. I'm Geesejuggler on the o-deck. Due to school, I haven't really been reading as much as I would like (although, the goal of "All of the awesome books in the world" is rather high number) but I loved the idea of a place where I can put all of the books I want to read that I got an account here.

I've never realized until now how many book series and YA books I've read. I'm not too ashamed of it but please don't judge me too much for it.

ETA: I will be sure to mention that we have a group here the next WednesdayBookClub.

Tomb (tombsv) | 21 comments Annalee Newitz didn't like me posting about the group outside of Goodreads. :/

Well I can understand that, even if I don't agree. Nothing wrong with bringing my two favorite things on the internet together, io9 and Goodreads! I hate how io9's comments are set up and I've never once posted a comment there.

Thanks for trying anyway :)

Annie Kitchen | 2 comments Hi there,

Glad to see this group! I have seen your comments before on io9, Tomb, and am glad to report that I too was an avid member of R.O.A.C.H. until Mr. Garrison Dean had to go and have a kid and left his post. Anyway, I comment sometimes under the username acrobaticrabbit.

Thanks for setting up this group. I've been reading some rather dense books lately and am looking for a nice respite. You know, something with dialogue and actual character development/good story.

Tomb (tombsv) | 21 comments Welcome Annie! Nice to see yet another oldtimer around. :) I see you are currently reading "The Sunflower: On the Possibilities and Limits of Forgiveness" I have been reading so much scifi and the books I need to read because I study litterature, but have been thinking of reading The Sunflower for a while. Could you get back to me when you know if it was any good? :)

Alex | 2 comments Hello there

I'm an io9 daily passer-by. Really enjoy the articles and subjects tackled there so decided to see if there is actually a goodreads group. This is how I bumped into the niners of goodreads, so greetings everyone from the future.
