On Saturday (3/17/2012) The Observer posted an article about Suzanne Collins http://www.guardian.co.uk/theobserver... and the questions that she is hoping that readers think about while devouring her books. She says: "I want them to ask themselves questions about how elements of the book might be relevant in their own lives, such as, 'How do you feel about the fact that some people take their next meal for granted when so many other people are starving? What's your relationship to reality TV versus your relationship to the news?'"

So what do you think of her questions?

Lin (linlane) | 4 comments I don't watch reality TV and I watch the serious news, not that usual hyped up stuff.

I think that is a weird question about how I feel about others starving while I eat well. I don't feel good about it but the thought never entered my mind while reading Hunger Games.

what I did not like is the violent part where the one guy died an agonizingly slow death.

I loved the heroine.

I think the question about eating well while others are starving is just another way of looking at how much we take for granted in our day to day lives, like the way that different districts have more or less depending on their landscape and proximity to the Capitol.

Sometimes the news gets all hyped up and for some people, it is hard to draw the line between what is real and what is media spin.
