I liked this book a lot, but it wasn't what I was expecting. For one thing, it wasn't really, you know, actiony. And I love action books. Just tell me what you liked or didn't like about it and hopefully we can get a discussion going.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!!! I love the action, the drama, and the romance. ITS THE BEST BOOK IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a good book. At times I found myself wanting to hurry and finish it so I could move onto a different book, but in the end I wasn't entirely disapointed. I guess I was just expected something different.

I like that it didn't follow the usual dystopian/post-apoc. formula, and that it wasn't entirely centered on action. And I really liked the ending and how the 2 love interest's relationship turns out. I guess to sum it up, I liked it because it was different from the norm in a good way.

I wish I liked it as much as you guys. I think that there was so much that they could have built on and elaborated more about. Like the background and set up. Like how there were civilizations in certain places, why there was still some sort of army any why folks feared them.

How violet came by with soooo many medical supplies?..things like that

it was better than okay but not great. I'm in the habit of noting good YA books for males for my nephew and I'd recommend it to him. The kids in this book were awfully young-acting, especially when you consider what they already had experienced in life.

imo, a better post-disaster book with a male protagonist is Ashfall

I like it a lot. It was very different from what I was expecting :) ... interesting read

I have to admit, I was expecting a little more. Maybe more back ground on P11 and what exactly it did.

I like the fact that the story just started right in the middle of something, but I felt like I was missing out on something. And I can't put my finger on just was I feel I need to love the book, rather than just enjoy it.

I agree with Emma that the book was interesting in the fact that it didn't follow the traditional formula for a dystopian/post-apocolypse adventure.

However, I couldn't figure out if Steve was supposed to be 12-13 or 18-19. Like Zora says, some of the kids seem to act really young, especially since none of them were around before the Collapse and have seen some really horrible things.

Perhaps there will be other books about Steve and the people of Settler's Landing that will satisfy our curiosity.

I thought it was a good quick read. You don't kow much about what happened. Everything was crumbling around him and he had to accept this new world he was given. Not much action. Ashfall is much better.

I think that the ending could have been better but everything else was really good. The book had a great mix of survival theme and confidence theme.

I thought it could have been so much better. I was rather disappointed and surprised that editors actually print such unrefined crap.

well I can say that it was not what I was expecting, and that it was interesting, in a good way. I liked all of the action and drama. I liked the beginning when they're running from the slavers, but I kinda felt bad for the donkey or what ever it was. I don't think the characters were fully developed. the end of the book should have been set in the future when Steve is older, too. it may seem I have a lot of bad things to say about this book, but I probably would read it again.

Honestly, for it's genre and age target, I thought it was readable and a pretty decent story.
