Elena, who was frustrated enough to tear her hair out and ask the teacher for a hall slip (who would obviously say no), suddenly, a long, whiny alarm rang in the distance.
What was that again? She racked her head for the answer. Earthquake? But the ground wasn't shaking. Fire? Yep, that was it.
"Attention, students of St. Martin's Academy. This is your principal speaking. This is not a fire drill. I repeat, this is not a fire drill. Please evacuate to the school grounds immediately. Thank you." Bleep. The PTA went out.
What the--she didn't even smell any smoke . . . ?
Alana, the blonde next to her let out a ear-shattering scream. "We're going to die!" she cried.
Elena shot her a look. "Jeez. Get a grip, won't you? Just do the freaking thing we did a drill--"
Unfortunately, Alana's words seemed to have sparked terror in her classmate's hearts. A girl whose name Elena forgot let out something unintelligible to Professor Dickens, and rushed out of the room, faster than a gazette running away from a lion.
To the redhead's surprise, somehow, five other girls dashed to the exit, screaming at the top of her lungs. Pretty soon, with hands in the air, almost the entire class had fled--the professor included.
"Scumbag," Elena hissed.
She was starting to doubt herself. Should she go with the flow, or just go with the drill? Either option seemed okay at this point--yet Elena was a bit nervous. There was a fire, alright. Then why couldn't she believe it?
She sighed and stood from her desk. "Okay," she said, addressing the rest of the room. "What the heck is going on? Does anyone have a clue?"

"Do you see anything?" asked a boy.
"No." Logan replied,"Maybe it's on the other side of campus?" He suggested lightly.
His tone was unbelieving but then again, so was his train of thought. Something didn't feel quite right.
"I would assume we should follow drill procedure but...this doesn't make sense, what was with Dickens?"

As the few others murmured in agreement, Elena raised an eyebrow. "Seriously?" she said. "We have no idea of what's really going on, and you just want to go out there unprepared?" Elena chuckled darkly. "There could be a zombie invasion for all we know."
"Relax, Chaplin," called Jon. "It's probably somewhere far from here. Maybe in the library or something?"
"The library's across the hall," corrected Yun. Wow. The Asian was actually speaking for once.
Jon waved it off with his hand. "You know what I mean," he said, addressing Elena and Yun. "Besides, this is reality. The undead just don't wake up in real life."
She couldn't win this war. Even if she decided to go alone, something instinctual forced her to find a friend. Elena never like being alone, and somehow she knew that even if she was wrong, she'd want someone to be there with her.
"Fine." Elena scowled. "Do what you want. Just don't blame me when we, I don't know--die or something?"
As the rest of the class exchanged amused glances with one another, Elena stood up and grabbed her bag. There was some pepper spray, a solar-powered flashlight, and food inside; her dad always made her bring them in case she would need something that would help her during any case of emergency. Having a police as a dad was a bit useful, if not annoying, at times.
"I'm going to go to the stairs," Elena said, talking to no one in particular. "Just to check if there's really an emergency. Anyone wants to come?"
Her words seemed to be unheard in the sudden chaos of the class. In the space of a few seconds, every kid seemed to have a cellphone in their hands, talking to whoever was on the line. Elena heard one kid say, "Mom's not there? At tennis? Um, could you say that we're having a fire, and we don't know what to do--yep, not joke. So, um, what . . ."
Was she the only person without a phone? Sheesh. She instantly blamed her overprotective parents for that fact. It's not like they have tracking devices for that thing, she thought angrily.
When she looked it up, it had really seemed like no one was about to follow her. Elena moaned. This was starting to seem a hell lot other than she thought it would be.

While the remaining students in room 407 filled any void of silence with frantic phone calls and worry, Logan shoved his binder into his backpack, carefully pushing aside his camcorder and laptop, and threw it over his shoulder. He checked his cell phone for the time(barely 2:00), and headed for the door to follow Elena, the only other person in the room that seemed to have any sense.
"You wanna get outta here?" he asked, a desperate look on his face. "I'm not sure how much longer I can deal with this mayhem"

She flashed a relieved smile, somehow fake and sweet at the same time. "That was my suggestion. What's your name again? Never mind. Tell me once you're done getting everything you need." Glancing one last look at the tumultuous buzz of Room 407, she firmly walked towards the door, not waiting for the boy to follow her. He seemed pretty capable to take care of himself in case anything happened.
When she was out in the hall, tapping her foot impatiently for the boy to come, she couldn't help but notice that some of the other classes were suffering the same situation as the others were. She only saw two teachers still in the room, both trying to calm down the students. However, most of them were completely abandoned--save the occasional student, like Mike who was in a fetal position, rocking back and forth nervously. Looked like his meds were catching back on him.
It wouldn't take even her conspiracy-nut self to know that this was one really weird situation. The kind of weird where in Hollywood movies the main characters would survive, but deep down inside, you knew that they would die.
Bile rose up her throat, but Elena swallowed to keep herself from showing fear. Just in case anyone was around, she had to keep her facade. No one ever saw Elena Markeths get scared.

"Wait up," said a voice behind them. Logan turned to see Yun hanging his messenger style backpack around his neck and shoulder. It was clear that Elena was just as surprised as Logan, but there was no protest. "I'm not hanging around here" Yun said, his voice still accented from his Asian culture.
"O...k...?" Elena replied, not as though she disliked Yun, She was just baffled that he was...ya know...talking. "The more the merrier I suppose."
Logan patted him on the back, "Right. Welcome aboard. Can we get outta here now?" It was hard not to sound mean with his aggravation rising, but he assumed the others felt the same way.
"Yes Please." Elena agreed.
With a nod from Yun the three proceeded to make their way down the hall.
((Idk how you feel about NPC's tagging along with us, if you don't like it we can have Yun leave when we get close to the School Entrance/Exit))
((Also, is it okay if i write your character's speech in my posts? I'll try my best to get a feel for Elena's personality so that nothing I write for her goes against your idea for her character.))

It was more silent than the night or any other crappy metaphor in the school. As the trio got farther away from the sophomore classrooms, Elena saw that the other years were mostly deserted--except for one senior class, who had around half of the people still inside. Her hand tightened on the can of pepper spray hidden inside her bag.
"So, any clue where we're headed to?" Elena asked, making a right on the corridor. "The teachers would probably go to the gym in case there's a fire. We could always try to escape, but if there's really an emergency we could get into trouble. However . . ." Her voice trailed off, stating the obvious: even for walking around a couple of minutes, there were no traces of even the faintest whiff of smoke.
"I say we go the library," Yun suggested. "There's a computer there. We could try to search something to see if there's a coverage of anything going on. Most of the people here Mitter what's going on."
Elena raised an eyebrow. "What's Mitter?"
"You know . . . the website with the blue bird."
"Oh. Twitter." Close enough. "Not bad. The school blocked most of the websites in their computers though--but I'm pretty sure I can get past the proxies." Elena grinned. "What do you say, Logan?"

"Sounds good to me," Logan answered, "I'd say we could just use my laptop but, I don't think I have much battery life left. I haven't plugged it in all week. I can charge it while we're in the library though."
The group drew closer to the library. Oddly enough they still hadn't so much as a glimpse of anyone else in the halls. Where had everyone gone? As they rounded the last corner Logan remembered the last fire drill he'd been present for. He had rounded that same corner with his first period classmates and, walking up and down the halls, were a mixture of teacher's aids and campus security officers, pointing out the correct routes to the fire exits. Then it hit him...they hadn't even seen an officer yet. Surely their would be School District Officers in the halls, guiding people to the assigned safe zone, or even searching rooms for students, but there was nothing.
Logan voiced this thought. "Where's the campus security guards??" he asked, "That alone should be enough to say this isn't a fire alarm right??"
Yun's face became serious. "You're right!" he replied, "Why didn't I notice that before?"

Wow, Elena Chaplin Markeths. Showing them your conspiracy-nut side so early?
For once, her voice was right. "Forget I said that," she back-tracked hastily. "So anyway. Library." Elena walked faster, outpacing the two boys. Heat clouded her face.
Then, in a flash, all the lights went out.
Bam.

(It's pretty simple xD If you have no idea, just skim through the last few posts or something like then jump it or whatever. But sure!)

The girl said something Juniper didn't catch as she picked herself back up off the floor, in to much of a hurry to care about their problems when she had some major ones of her own.
((i will write more, but i just read what you said about not wanting to control your character and i didn't want to do anything you wouldn't for your character without your permission, so you can lead on from here if you want))

Oh, no. She was going to pay. Grabbing the flashlight from her bag, Elena flicked it on, racing after the figure with only the solid yellow beam with her, forgetting about her other companions and possible evil scenarios for the moment. No one pushed her without an apology.

Juniper let out a annoyed grunt as she stopped dead in the middle of the hallway.
"what do you want!" Juniper yelled at her when the girl got close. "I'm very busy at the moment. why don't you follow the rest of your school out of the building like your supposed to?"

Yun looked at him, "So we are not going to the library?" he asked.
"No." Logan answered. "No we are not..."
Yun continued to stare in the direction the girls had run off in. "Should we-"
"-Yes" Logan interrupted, "Yes we should..."
So the boys began walking in the direction of the girls when suddenly they heard tennis shoes squeak on the tile floor, and someone say, "Ow!"
"I guess she got her." said Yun. His voice sounded so proper. Logan couldn't help but laugh.

"Liar!" she shouted angrily. With a big oof she put the flashlight between her teeth and launched herself onto the figure on the instinct, grabbing her waist and tackling the person to the ground. With a skitter, she could hear the flashlight fly a few paces away from her. Yikes. Hope it doesn't break.
"Now what the hell do you know?" Elena snarled, grasping the figure's throat. "You've got ten seconds."

"Elena," Logan spoke, no longer finding humor in the ordeal, "Take it easy!" he pleaded. Nobody could see anything, but grabbing the flashlight seemed to evade the two boy's minds as the situation at hand was far more important. Logan didn't dare try to pull them apart, this girl was running for a reason, and having her pinned to the ground until she filled them in was damn sure fine with him.

"Now what the hell do you know?" the girl snarled in my face and grabbed Junipers throat. "you've got ten seconds."
Juniper didn't hear that last part though because she was to busy thinking up a plan to rip this girls head off. No one threatens her and gets away with it, especially a human.
Twisting her body so one of her arms came free from under the girls, Juniper pushed the girl and kicked with her legs to get her off. It didn't work though, for the girl had a strong grip on Junipers throat and only ended up hurting herself.
An annoyed snarl came from Junipers lips as she gave up. the only way she could pry this girl off of her is to kill her or tell her what she wanted, and she wasn't in the mood to clean up any bodies.
"fine! you want to know?" she yelled at the girl. "You are about to be eaten by hungry Zombies! That is only because you didn't follows the rules and follow your school to safety where my team could have saved you! Now were both going to be lunch unless you get off of me!" Juniper fished in a huff.

Elena ignored Logan's words and Yun's stare, scoffinf. Zombies? Give me a break, she thought, rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, right, and I'm the queen on Mali," she retorted. "Why don't you prove it then? Where the f*** are the hoarded of the undead? Where the hell is your weapon?" Elena chuckled bitterly. "There's got to be more to that." Zombies couldn't exist, simply because they weren't real. It had to be all fiction.
Just RP here about . . . whatever. No restrictions--heck, just go with the flow while following the rules.
I'll start. :3
Elena wasn't just bored. She was the 'I'm-going-to-die-if-something-doesn't-happen-right-now-and-I-might-murder-innocent-guppies-if-this-goes-on' kind of bored.
Stifling a yawn, she absentmindedly twirled pieces of her hair. Damn, her normally straight auburn curls were getting a bit wavy for her liking. Was it the humidity? God. Elena felt like murdering Prof. Dickens for not letting them even open the freaking window. Hello? It was burning here in Miami. What was she supposed to do, just listen to him rant about the importance of Math for thirty minutes?
Then why the hell wasn't she doing anything?
