Meg I think so... I don't know if another BSC has come out recently or not. I love those books. :D

message 52: by Meg (new) - rated it 5 stars

Meg They're great, aren't they? I've read a bit of Raina Telegmeier's other stuff-- mostly her Baby Sitter's Club books, I read the originals when I was younger-- and they're all amazing. :)

jennifer hard to say... illustrations are a lot more better in smile. however... diary of a wk is more entertaining. so... dwk

Raina Teglemeier certainly captures that essence in graphic novels. Not only does she just tell the story through pictures, she sends a powerful message. Everyone experiences adolescence awkwardly. For her, knocking out two front teeth certainly caused some trouble for Raina; questionable friendships, precipitation of dental visits, and of course, romantic crushes. It might seem that Raina's art seems simplistic, but really, it's much more than that.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid, on the other hand, I'm not so sure. Yes, I do love the series; in fact, I can't wait to get my hands on Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel. It's just that it doesn't seem that deep compared to Smile. Sure, it does talk about Greg growing up along each book, and it's quite funny. But I just don't see that essence that Smile has. With this statement, I'm going to have to go with Smile.

But don't get angry at me. Many people have different opinions. It's what makes the world go 'round.

Mirabelle Meg wrote: "Oh, really?!? My sister and I will read Smile over and over again!! I've probably read that book a few dozen times already, and I haven't even had the book for that long... I guess I appreciate it ..."

And I thought my little sister and I were the only ones who do that!

Mirabelle I prefer Smile for so many reasons I could list, I don't know where to start. Here's one: Smile teaches you the importance of friendship, DWK doesn't

message 57: by Meg (new) - rated it 5 stars

Meg Haha yeah, I'm glad my sister and I aren't the only ones that do that!! :D All the times I'm bored I'll pick up that book, I'm serious.

jennifer DWK! DWK! DWK! DWK! DWK! DWK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 59: by Meg (new) - rated it 5 stars

Smile

Devon smile was one of the best books i have ever read so far or at least one of the best. The best part about this book is that it was a true story. The story had saddness drama and you got to watch the characters grow and move on to 8th grade.

Ashley I liked it so much. It was really easy. I finihsed it in 1 day.

VIVI GARCIA SMILE :D :D :D :D :D :D ;D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Itzel SMILE TOTALLY IT IS THE BEST =D =P =B !!

7703maya SMILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarah Smile, wimpy kid is good to, but smile is much better.

message 73: by Nana (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nana SMILE... more of my stuff

Jasmine Brown I like both of them but i like Smile more then the Dairy of a wimpy kid books.

message 75: by Cali (new) - rated it 4 stars

Cali SMILEEEEEEEEE :D

Bofieb SMILE. Smile all the way.
Sure, Diary of a Wimpy kid is funny, but Smile was just amazing.

message 77: by Judy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Judy I like Diary of a Wimpy Kid better, mainly because Smile appears slightly cliché and screams, "LOOK AT MY GIRL PROBLEMS!" and not in a funny way.

Alyia ayala i would pick smile

Gianna Smile! I loved it because it was a biography but it was also very entertaining, like realistic fiction. Diary of a Wimpy Kid just seems like the kind of thing that boys would like, not girls.

message 80: by Meg (new) - rated it 5 stars

Meg I totally agree. :) I also think DWK's humor is geared towards 11-year-old boys. Smile isn't really focusing on the girly but teeth drama, which girls AND boys can all relate to.

Christine I really like Smile and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but Smile is only one book ( it doesn't continue! ), so i like Diary of a Wimy Kis better

Gianna Christine- If you like Diary of a Wimpy Kid more because there are multiple books, but you still like Smile, then you should try the Babysitter's Club graphic novels if you haven't already. It is illustrated by Raina Teglemeier, the author of Smile. It shows the girls growing up through middle school, like Smile. I loved both Smile and the Babysitter's Club, so I'm sure you'll love it too!

message 83: by Hanna (last edited Feb 25, 2013 04:32PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Hanna Meg wrote: "Baby Sitter's Club has like four volumes right now, last time I saw. Smile's only one book, though."

The author just wrote a sequel to smile. But it's about different person. It's called "Drama"

message 84: by Meg (new) - rated it 5 stars

Meg I read it. I like it a lot more than Smile, actually. :) It's a completely different plot, subject, different characters... If you liked Smile, you'll love Drama!

message 85: by Kate (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kate I like dwk MORE smile is a little BORING

message 86: by Meg (new) - rated it 5 stars

Meg :( I thought Smile was adorable and really good. Never had a desire to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

message 87: by Kate (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kate DWK

message 88: by Kate (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kate you should

Audrey Klosterman smile. i like D.W.K but greg was just an immature boy who couldn't get off his stupid video games. the only D.W.K books i liked was the last straw and snow days or whatever

Audrey Klosterman Eden wrote: "Anna wrote: "Smile is much more funny and exciting and plus it's a biography in the form of a graphic novel, they should do that more often with biographies."

totally! its the perfect book, plus t..."

agreed

Audrey Klosterman has anyone read drama? it's also by the same author

message 92: by Meg (new) - rated it 5 stars

Meg Drama is ADORABLE. It made me cry though. :P I liked it even more than Smile. I recommend it.

message 93: by marina (new)

marina BOTH!!!!!!!!!

message 94: by Nunu (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nunu Paye Even though I only read this book after one time and highly enjoyed it I think its way better than Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

message 95: by [deleted user] (new)

message 96: by Hope (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hope Salts I have read both and i personally think Smile is so much better because it totally shows how a teenage girl see's her life.

message 97: by Anna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anna SMILE was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better!
