I've had this on my to-read list for a long time. Can't wait too read it, too, Linda!

Ann (annrumsey) | 466 comments I am getting an early start. This is good since it takes a while to read an audio on just my commute, especially since I am on vacation next week.

Not to be smart Camen, but what did you love about this book. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either.

Carmen | 25 comments Hey Linda,
loved the way the author wrote, kinda southern feeling, loved the time it was set in, the depression, prohibition, the story, I guess too, my dad worked in the CC's so liked that aspect too

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 598 comments Ahhh... so the CC's really existed. I also liked the authors style and will read him again.

Ann (annrumsey) | 466 comments Carmen I agree, - the historical aspects were very well presented and I felt the palpable heat of a sticky Florida day as they toiled at the rebuilding. I was looking out at the ocean from the dock in my mind as I read. The whole idea of cypress wood gave my mind's eye a feast to prepare a view of the structure of the Cypress House. The story took you right inside, and on the porch, and up the stairs. It was well suited to an audio reading.

Ann, Thank You! your review convinced me to put on my TBR list.

Having been to Florida several times when I was young (we had family there), I remember that oppressive heat and humidity. I remember the sticky, icky, feeling of the salt drying on my skin after swimming in the ocean. Not saying I didn't have a blast, but I certainly welcomed being indoors in the air conditioning. Can you imagine living there without that? And working outside in such heat?

I, too, thought the story well-written and atmospheric. Sounds like the audiobook was very good, Ann.

Debra,
I have done both.
Not fun, not even one little bit, nope.
