Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 217 comments Hello Mr Bryan. I would like to feature on your site.

Book is called Shades of Grey and it is a collection of three short stories.

John is not a very nice man. He works for the government. So who has tied him to a chair and what do they want?

James is a British soldier during WWII. Tom is a young boy with a terrible secret.

Three stories. Three very different people. All of them battling to survive.

My own blog is http://michaelcargill.wordpress.com/

Amazon US - http://www.amazon.com/Shades-of-Grey-...

Amazon UK - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shades-of-Gre...

Artwork link - https://dwtr67e3ikfml.cloudfront.net/...

Author bio - I am 32 years old and currently living in Surrey, England. I published my first book in the middle of last year and made it available for free. My fulltime job is in the IT industry and I am currently writing my first novel.

Excerpt of Shades of Grey;

The artillery shells continued to rain down and he crammed his fingers into his ears. The noise was now coming up through the ground and James could feel his veins shaking. He gritted his teeth and felt grains of French earth crunch and snap between his jaws. All he could taste was mud. All he could hear was noise. All he could feel was the end of the world.

Claude Dancourt (claudedancourt) | 92 comments Hello Bryan

Thank you for the opportunity :)
My first novel, SECOND CHANCES, is a contemporary romance. Link for Amazon is here .

“I will convince my father to unfreeze the amount for the surgery despite the financial checking that is currently going on. In return, you will help with this little problem I have.”
Talk about a ‘little’ problem: his father wants him to marry, and Arthur chose Maya… as a fake girlfriend to avoid walking down the aisle. If only she had another way to save Matthew’s life, she would slam her door on the jerk’s face with pleasure. Arthur is so… arrogant. Self-righteous. One track-minded. Handsome...
Not that his looks matter, anyway. His proposal is simply shocking. A young boy’s life is not something to bargain with! Plus, between her work, Christmas preparations and those threats against her charity foundation, Maya has no time for absurd fantasies about Arthur. No time at all. Even if he is awfully nice when he wants to…

K.L. Ogden (klogden) | 8 comments Hey Bryan!

What a cool idea. I would love if you included Sweet Burden.

Summary: Hitomi Beaumann isn’t supposed to live to see her 18th birthday.

Hitomi has always been just an average girl in a small town. But now she's being followed and her skin prickles every time the eyes are on her. After escaping a brutal attack thanks to a mysterious young man, she discovers he is one of the ones who have been watching her. Obsidian has jet black hair, red eyes and an attitude to match. As she finds herself drawn to Obsidian, she also realizes that he might just be as evil as he wants her to believe.

With someone trying to kill Hitomi and her birthday drawing closer, she finds herself plunged into a reality where a power struggle has been raging for years between mystical realms, humans are not the only beings and most of her life has been a lie.

Will Hitomi make it to her 18th birthday to discover secrets hidden from her? Will Obsidian be there to protect her or will he be the one to end her?

This is Book 1 of the Sweet Burden Series. Book 2 is scheduled for release the summer of 2012.

An excerpt from Jewelz:

Lucy watched the mother cat closely. The cat, a ginger feline, was weak and frail. She lay on a corner near a brick house. Lucy watched in awe as the mother cat gave birth to each kitten. Lucy counted, “One—two, three, four, five.” she said under her breath. Lucy watched as each kitten lay by its mother’s side in the snow. But wait...another little kitten was on its way into the world. “Six kittens!” Lucy counted.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 26 comments Hi Bryan

Part 2 of my humorous fantasy fiction trilogy has just been released so if you want to feature either that one or book 1 here's the gen.

Few Are Chosen, K'Barthan Trilogy: Part 1
The Pan of Hamgee isn’t paranoid. There must be some people in K’Barth who aren’t out to get him; it’s just that, right now, he’s not sure where they are. His family are dead, his existence is treason and he does the only thing he can to survive – getaway driving.

As if being on the run isn’t bad enough, when he finds a magic thimble and decides to keep it, he unwittingly sets himself on a collision course with Lord Vernon, K’Barth’s despot ruler.

Unwillingly, The Pan is forced to make choices and stand up for his beliefs – beliefs he never knew he had until they were challenged. But, faced with a stark moral dilemma will his new found integrity stick? Can he stop running?

The Wrong Stuff, K'Barthan Trilogy: Part 2
The Pan of Hamgee is not a natural knight in shining armour. Yet he has escaped from police custody in K’Barth, switched realities and foiled Lord Vernon’s attempt to kidnap Ruth, the Chosen One from the Festival Hall. Pretty good, he thinks.

However, Ruth thinks otherwise. Being pursued by Lord Vernon is bad enough. Now, thanks to The Pan, she’s on the run. They are both alive, of course, but with Lord Vernon on their tail neither of them can be sure how long for.

To save her life The Pan must introduce Ruth, the woman of his dreams, to the person prophesied to be the man of hers. And he knows he must do it fast. Before Lord Vernon finds her. But the gentleman in question is in hiding and no-one knows where. Can The Pan find him? And if he does, can he bring himself to unite them?

M T McGuire is nearly 44 years old but still checks inside unfamiliar wardrobes for a gateway to Narnia. None yet. Boring huh?

COVERT DREAMS
Life is good for B.J. He has a great job and a loving wife. But all of a sudden he begins experiencing a series of lifelike nightmares, where he knows intimate details of Munich, a city in which he has never been. He can speak German in his dream, a language he does not know. Everybody thinks he is losing it. Is he going crazy? To save himself, he knows that he has but one option: he must go to Munich to uncover the truth behind his dreams.

Stan Halsey, a professor in Saudi Arabia, sends for his wife to join him, but she suddenly disappears soon after her arrival, along with every trace of her very existence. There is absolutely nothing, not one single detail in any records anywhere, to prove that she is indeed a living person and that her spouse is not crazy for thinking so. Both the American government officials and the Saudi Arabian authorities insist that she does not exist. Stan Halsey, all alone in his quest, must act fast before he is forced out of the country.

What is real, and what is not? Who is really who, and why? The mounting suspense moves from Munich, to London, to Rome, and to the burning sands of Saudi Arabia. What is the horrifying link between these two alternating stories? Do you love mysteries? Do you love thrillers? Do you love suspense? If so, then take on COVERT DREAMS.

DEADLY EYES
James Cuffy, better known as Cuff, is living in paradise with his girlfriend, on the small Caribbean island of St. Croix, where the sky is as blue as Cuff’s eyes, the ocean as pretty as Rosie’s cheeks, where the gentle lapping of the waves is a lullaby, and the swaying of the palm trees is a dance. The sandy beaches are as white as sugar, and the horizon is a world away. St. Croix indeed is paradise, the perfect place for living, laughing, and loving.

But the sandy beaches and the turquoise sea can provide no cover from the deadly eyes of the unknown stalker pursuing Cuff. Murder leads to murder as he attempts to untangle the terrible web in which he has suddenly become entangled.

The twists and turns are relentless, the roads of the fast action leading in all directions, but time is running out, and Cuff, his faithful Rosie at his side, knows it.

Travis (finallyhesleeps) | 3 comments I checked out Totallyloveit. This sounds like an awesome idea and I'd love to be a part of it.

"Lost in Infinity" is the gothic memoir of a chronic insomniac suffering from apeirophobia (the fear of infinity). The novel unfolds the history of his life as he tries to unlock repressed memories through a near schizophrenic relationship with his own splintered subconscious. The novel offers a no holds barred look into the private confessions of a man on the precipice of a mental breakdown. The recurring theme of déjà vu leads the reader through the work giving glimpses of a dark past while offering anecdotes that will relate to every reader. Mixing in humor and satire with the tragedy of a childhood spent under the microscope of therapists keeps the mood light while he digs deeper into his past looking for the root of his problems.

The horror fantasy set in the chaos of a zombie apocalypse is set to release in the fall of 2012.

Excerpt:
PROLOGUE
The rain tickled my window with a lullaby of sand and tin as the darkness that engulfed the house crept down the hallway and invaded my room. The light from the street lamp shining through my bedroom window was momentarily enraged, flooding the room in a bright explosion of white. My pupils narrowed, leaving the room black once again. Slowly the street lamp beyond began to return to its full luminosity as the hint of a rumble erupted overhead. The thunder built to a crescendo, rolling over the house with such force that my window rattled in its frame. The street lamp, irritated by the flash of light, slowly acclimated back to the dark of night, returning the spilled light to the back wall of my room before the next flash of lightning was able to recycle the process all over again.
My pupils dilated and the shadow behind my dresser came into focus once again. My soccer trophy stretched out along the wood paneling turning a plated plastic bicycle kick into an elongated triceratops holding a zeppelin. I focused my thoughts on the shadow, imagining why a dinosaur would ever need an airship, when the shadow shifted. The triceratops turned its head to look at me. I looked back at the trophy confused and the shadow turned away. My gaze returned to the zeppelin and another shadow grew in the corner near my closet door. I looked directly at the shadow. It looked back. Another flash of lightning and my room was reset.
The shadow returned with the onslaught of my focus. This time, as I stared at the shadow, a face appeared in my doorway, sneaking around the corner of the dark oak frame. I sat up in bed and whipped my head in its direction. Gone. Out of the corner of my peripheral vision appeared another face. I turned my head slowly and it disappeared just the same. The faces would never allow me to see them directly. They were always there and always gone. The shadow creatures watched from just beyond the attention of my eyes. They would hide within the darkness, out of sight but close enough they were not afraid to be seen. Another flash of lightning and my room was reset. The looming face in the corner stared back at me through black eyes. I ignored the shy faces watching and waiting behind furniture and around corners so that I could peer into the deep black that was The Shadow Man. He blinked and the black was gone. Sheer terror washed over me as the movement took root in my brain. A scream escaped my lungs and pierced the 3am silence. Until this moment my mind was so lost in curiosity that I had rationalized the faces and The Shadow Man as tricks of light. They were more interesting than frightening. Interesting shadows did not blink...
What is deja vu? In French it literally means, "already seen". Emile Boirac, a French psychic researcher, coined the term. Déjà vu is the feeling that one has already seen or experienced the current situation before, even though the circumstances may be vague, unclear or uncertain. It's the feeling of "I've been here and done this before." The feeling can accompany something as simple as watching a car pass or bending over to pick up a piece of paper. It can be as unnerving as knowing every word of a conversation before it is spoken... or at least feeling as if you do. The most frequent explanation is that the experience did happen before. Picking up a piece of paper seems so random that believing it has happened before may be a simple coincidence. Another plausible explanation is that the feeling is caused by a breakdown in the neurological system. Imagine the systems responsible for short and long term memory misfiring or firing nanoseconds apart. The result is a memory planted in the psyche before the conscious part of the brain ever receives the information and processes it, giving the illusion of past experience.
I've felt deja vu on a daily basis since I was a child. Whether I’m brushing my teeth or looking down and noticing the cracks in the sidewalk passing by underfoot, as soon as the feeling overcomes me, my heart starts to race. At first I found it exciting. I wondered if there was some hidden talent that I possessed but was yet unable to hone... Or maybe it was hereditary. One day a great grandparent would approach me with the inevitable speech about great responsibility and our secret Native American ancestry... My brain always finds the most outlandish and impossible explanations. It's in my nature. I've always had a wild imagination.
Precognition may not be a viable theory, but it was for a long time the most entertaining. Whenever the feeling of deja vu struck me, I would imagine the moment in time as a request for assistance by the forces of fate. My brain was being triggered for a greater good, making me notice something small in that instance and giving me the opportunity to change my path or make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate. I'd roll the dice and turn up four sixes and a two in the middle of a game of Yahtzee and get the feeling of deja vu... instead of re-rolling the two and going for a signature “Yahtzee!”, I'd scoop up the sixes and re-roll the four-of-a-kind for more twos. I'd smile and block out the catcalls from my competitors letting me know how stupid I was because deep down inside I knew that with that shake and toss of those four dice, came a change in our timeline and the path of the world around me. I was saving a life or righting a wrong.
Chaos theory and the Butterfly effect became obsessions as a result of my fascination with déjà vu. I began to wonder what good I was doing by each and every action. I began to worry what wrong I was causing with them as well. The worry started to affect my ability to make quick and intelligent decisions. Double and triple guessing each action and choice to see if a double negative would somehow correct the possibility of a mudslide in Rio de Janeiro or a piano falling on a woman pushing her baby in a buggy in Paris...
Time travel fascinated me. From H.G. Wells to Carl Sagan, I wanted to know everything about it. Wormholes, black holes, Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, the space-time continuum... I ventured into every aspect of its possibilities. I even went as far as creating markers in time for future time travelers to be able to use as calibration points for their eventual time traveling devices. I waited and wondered. I knew that one day, when I stood in the street looking up at the sky with my sign clearly marking the time and date down to the second that a traveler from the future would magically appear before me with a thank you and a pat on the head. When that moment never arrived, I began to speculate about what that meant. Time was a construct created as a crutch to put boundaries on the things our young minds were unable to comprehend. Time was irrelevant. If time was irrelevant, what else had no point or meaning? Religion? Life? Death? Why are we here? Where is here? What is the meaning of life?
All before I was seven. This is just a glimpse at how my mind works. I stop, I think, I worry. Repeat.
If I’m not worrying about decisions or consequences, I’m questioning the validity of the actions and reactions. Accepting the truths of others leaves no room for the possibility of enlightenment that comes from an answer for which the question was never asked. I ask a lot of questions. It’s my nature. I’ve always had a wild imagination.
What is déjà vu? What does it mean to you? By the time you finish this book, your answer may change.
“Why are you here?” I whispered.
The Shadow Man blinked and goose bumps ran from my wrists to my spine. I pulled the covers tighter and sunk deeper into my pillow. Silence filled my room then gave way to my labored breathing followed by the shock of another distant roll of thunder.
Enjoy the show.

Here's info on my suspense novel Painted Black. Thanks for the opportunity! If you are able to post my info, email a link to me at [email protected] and I'll spread the word on my blogs and social networking sites.

About Painted Black:

A homeless man in a glass coffin, that’s all Jo Sullivan was looking for, some new material for her column in Winds of Change, a weekly rag willing to dust the dirt off the seamier side of Chicago. But after she nearly turns a street kid into a hood ornament, the tip dropped by a fifteen year old prostitute starts to look more like a front page two inch headline. When the young girl disappears, her friend Chris hints of a room filled with corpses on display like an exhibit at a wax museum, and Jo and Chris team up to uncover the truth behind Sloan and Whiteside’s funeral home.

Author Bio:

Debra R. Borys is the author of the suspense novel Painted Black, released by New Libri Press in e-book and trade paperback. She is also a freelance writer specializing in fiction ghostwriting and editing, and has published several short stories in print and online magazines.

Painted Black is the first in a series starring Jo Sullivan. Borys calls upon her eight years of volunteering in Chicago and Seattle to mingle the reality of homelessness with fiction, exposing the darker side of the human experience in ways that are both important and meaningful.

She is donating 10% of her author profits to The Night Ministry in Chicago and Teen Feed in Seattle, both groups she knows well from her work as a volunteer.

Excerpt:

Jo studied Lexie in the dim light. She looked half child, half whore. Skin as dark as freshly-turned top soil, hair drawn back, finely curved cheek bones. Her jaw jutted out defiantly. A large man's hand could have wrapped around her throat with fingers nearly touching thumb.

"Stop by the Center tomorrow, okay?" Keisha reached out and tucked a stray curl behind Lexie's ear. "It's my day to work. We can talk."

"Yeah, sure." Lexie still studied the sidewalk.

Keisha put a hand on her arm to get her to look up. "I mean it," she said. "I'll worry if you don't come."

Keisha earned her living as a model. Most people only saw the perfect, coppery complexion, the fine figure, the stylish clothes. But at that moment, Lexie looked at Keisha the way someone dying of thirst looked at a glass of water.

"Lunchtime tomorrow," Keisha continued. "I'll be waiting." She touched the girl's arm again and Lexie nodded agreement. "Good. Now take care, you hear?" Jo and Keisha started to turn away.

"Wait." The word seemed to rush out of Lexie before she could think. They looked back. "I was wondering if, you know, if you could--" she looked at Jo, then quickly back at Keisha. "Could you buy me something to eat, maybe? I'm awful hungry."

Jo had a second to picture this half naked child seated at a corner table set with fine linen and Waterford crystal before Keisha said, "How about a burrito?"

John Podlaski (pdogg) | 56 comments Hi Bryan,

I'd like to tell you a little bit about my book, Cherries - A Vietnam War Novel.

"When soldiers go to war, they return home "different". Ever wonder why? Cherries is a story about the right of passage that all young soldiers undertake when experiencing war for the first time. Although the setting for Cherries is Vietnam, the author’s experiences, emotions, and tragedies are not only confined to that war – they are repeated in every conflict. Readers of my novel have commented that Cherries should be read by students, siblings of those who have served, and by the parents of those soldiers serving today. After finishing Cherries, they’ll have a better understanding of why those who go away to war come home “changed”. All veterans will relate to Cherries – either in part or in whole!

Description:
Worn out at the end of an ordinary day, Emily stops at a roadside diner, where she meets Jim, a sensitive man who intuitively understands her. Can she move beyond the pain of her broken marriage and rediscover the simple pleasures in life over a bowl of soup?

Author site: http://betsymillerbooks.weebly.com

Author bio: Betsy Miller writes nonfiction books about children's health and short stories. Her short stories span several genres including literary romance, mystery, and young adult. Miller lives in Silicon Valley with her husband and two daughters.

Excerpt:

Emily Walker strove for equilibrium. She wanted that clear calm spot at the fulcrum, a small coherent space unmoved by external forces. Like Louis, her ex-husband; his exuberant vitality had demanded reciprocity. The corresponding expenditure of energy had left her exhausted and out of her depth. She made him leave ten months ago, but a drained, stretched-out sensation remained. She felt it most driving home from work. Her quiet, modest apartment was her refuge—a respite from the needs of others. Yet tonight she felt reluctant to go there.

A light rain slanted across the windshield as Emily exited the freeway. She switched the wipers to the intermittent setting, veering right at the off-ramp, turning onto Johnson Street. It was then that she spotted the sign, red neon glowing against the dull gray of the fading September light: Jim’s House of Soups.

The small restaurant stood between a Shell service station and a Quik Print shop. She changed lanes and pulled into the parking lot. The rain became more insistent—fast, hard drops drumming on the roof of the car. Emily slipped the collar of her coat up over the top of her head and bolted for the restaurant. A bell tied to the door handle jangled as she opened the door. She shrugged her coat back into place, letting the door swing shut behind her.

To the left stood a counter with a row of swivel stools. A series of white placemats with red napkins ran down the top. At one end stood a lanky man with a lean face framed with gray hair at the temples. He closed the cash register. A compact teenage boy with bad skin folded napkins at the far end, next to a soda machine. Three square tables and two booths with burgundy vinyl benches completed the seating arrangements. A complex, soothing scent composed of chicken, vegetable and seafood broths mingled together in the warm room.

“One?” asked the man at the cash register.

“Yes, I saw your sign…”

“Oh, good. We opened last week, but the sign just went up today. Please, sit anywhere you like. You’re our first customer tonight.”

Emily went to the counter. She set her purse next to a stool and began to take off her coat.

“Here, let me take that for you. I’m Jim.” He came from behind the counter, helped her out of her coat and hung it on an oak hat tree in the corner.

“Thanks, Jim. I’m Emily,” she said. “Emily Walker.”

He shook her hand, gripping it firmly and meeting her eyes. “Pleased to meet you, Emily.” Had he held her hand a bit longer than necessary?

Sherri Moorer (sherrithewriter) | 172 comments What's up Bryan? I'm Sherri Fulmer Moorer and I have a new book coming out soon. Tell me, are you interested in meeting Jana Lanning? All of her plans for the future have fallen apart within two weeks of graduation. The only comfort she finds is in a mysterious music box sent to her by a friend. At first she looks to it for comforting memories of her past, but soon she's having strange dreams of a life where she's the queen of a world where everything she desires comes to pass. It seems ideal until elements of reality and her dream world start to merge, leaving her ill and confused. When she's confronted by attacks in both worlds she must face her demons and choose which reality she prefers; and what price she'll pay to keep it. It's coming in April. You can find my books at http://www.amazon.com/author/sherrimo... and at my website at http://www.sherrithewriter.com . Ben, now an idealistic park ranger, believes he's the man to find the arsonist. Trouble is, folks also think he might be the culprit.

Author bio:
A former press photographer in Florida, Tim W. Jackson’s non-fiction travel writing about the Florida wilderness has appeared in the Tampa Tribune. His short fiction has appeared, or is forthcoming, in the High Plains Literary Review, Confrontation, Palo Alto Review, Oracle Story and Letters and Conceit.
When not writing, Tim works as a scuba instructor and boat captain in the Caribbean. His forthcoming second novel, Blacktip Island, is set in the Caribbean, as is his related short story collection, several of which can be downloaded free at timwjackson.com.

Excerpt:
A shout behind him, then a roar that seemed to come from everywhere. Embers rained from the high branches. The fire had leaped their just-dug line and caught in the crowns of the oaks behind. The air cleared. An oppressive heat rolled over him, though the leaves on the ground were not burning.
“Run!” Ben pointed back toward their landing zone, down the hummock’s unforested lower slope. He needn’t have bothered. The firefighters were already sprinting. Fire in the tree crowns, and the hot, clear air meant the oak grove was about to burst into flame from tree top to the ground. A few seconds’ hesitation could be the difference in escaping or dying.
Ben turned, shouting to a straggler, thought he heard a higher-pitched echo of his voice, realized Kelly was yelling as well, sending others in the crew running ahead of her. Branches fell, flying sideways, igniting as they flew. Ben ran, pacing Kelly.
He glanced over his shoulder. A lone firefighter wavered behind by the grass flats. Ben stopped, cursing. The man dropped his shovel and fell to his knees. Ben ran back, grabbed the man, and tried to help him stand. The man coughed, gagged, shaking in Ben’s grip. Ben grabbed him with both hands, pulled him uphill, away from the burning grass. The man barely moved. Desperate, Ben knelt, ducked his head under the man’s torso and swung him up onto his shoulders. He stood, legs nearly buckling with the effort, and started back toward the pickup point.
Flames covered the mound, snaking down the tree trunks, erupting outward. At the hummock’s base, a figure beckoned. Kelly, at the last remaining gap in the fire, shouting something Ben couldn’t hear. Ben took a step toward her and knew he would never reach the gap in time. Behind him, the grass fire had reached the fire trench, the flames taller than his head. For an instant he imagined it was Kelly he carried. His father’s face, and Henry Moton’s, loomed in his mind. Would he die like Henry, then?
A voice from training echoed in his head, pushed all other thoughts aside. “Choose where the fire hits you!” He’d hammered the same last-ditch survival adage into scores of new recruits. A grass fire burned quicker, but less intense, especially in wet terrain like this. He had a better chance to survive there than in a fully-engulfed hardwood grove. If the wall of flame across the grass was thin, and he was lucky, he could carry the man through it and into the relative safety of the burned grass flats beyond. Ben staggered downslope, building momentum, took a deep breath and plunged into the flames.
The heat tore at him, even through his asbestos suit. The marshy soil clutched at his feet, nearly tripping him. Ben stumbled on in a slow-motion sprint with all the energy he could muster. Five steps more, a sixth. His legs gave way and he sunk knee-first in the hot mud. Hot. But not burning.
Ben opened his eyes. He was through. Cord grass clumps smoldered around him. His face stung. But he was alive.

If I’ve overlooked anything, feel free to PM or e-mail me.

Excerpt:
"My name's Alison Temple and I used to have this line when people asked me if I'm married. I'd say, ‘I'm waiting for Mr Wonderland and when I find him I'll get married. Until then I'm staying single.’ The kind of people who need to know whether or not you're married don’t see the humour in a joke like that.

I was married once, for a while. I thought my husband was cheating on me. Sometimes he was late home and I'd stand at the bedroom window and watch the street. I'd lean against the window frame and press my forehead against the window in despair and I'd wonder, who do you love more than me? In darkness, in silence, I'd wait until I saw him turn the corner on his way home. Then I'd go and lie in bed - waxwork, expressionless features; heavy, bloodless limbs. It was like one of those hospital nightmares where you have enough anaesthetic to stop you moving or screaming, but not enough to stop you feeling pain. I would just lie there, closing my eyes to stop the giddy feeling that I supposed was anger but was really relief that he was home at all. I was never sure which of us I hated more. Nothing tied me to him - not money, children, or even much of a shared history. Just a sunny day and a white dress."

Let me know when it's up and I'll post about it on my site.

Author Bio:
Janet McNulty wrote Legends Lost Amborese and chose to publish it under the pen name Nova Rose, since she has also published material in nonfiction.

She currently resides in West Virginia and began construction on Legends Lost Amborese ten years ago while in high school. At the time it was merely a few pages of notes in one of her school notebooks. In college she continued working on the story of Amborese in the hope that one day she would be able to share it with the world. That day came in August 2011 when the book was first printed.

Ms. McNulty keeps herself busy writing the second novel in the Legends Lost trilogy. And she has her cats to keep her on task.

Excerpt:

Charlotte Green sat in the living room of her spacious Cape Cod styled home, holding a long-stemmed red rose in her hand, she glanced at the calendar, a big red circle marked the date, January 14, her anniversary. She dreaded the moment every year, but she forced herself to go through the process. She looked at a framed picture on an end table, than stared down at her diamond ring and wedding band she still wore. Today would've marked her 30th wedding anniversary.
She wasn't looking for love, when she walked across the college campus that autumn day. Late for her drama class, she took a detour across the lawn, as she ran to the theater her eyes shifted to an oak tree, where a guy sat underneath playing his guitar. At the time, she didn't think much about him, but as the days turned into weeks, she found herself walking the same path, so she could catch a glimpse of the handsome student. There was something about him that awakened feelings inside of her, whether it was his long brown hair or the way he played his guitar, she couldn’t shake her feelings for him.
Not having the nerve to go up to him, she continued her usual routine of sneaking a peek as she hurried by. One day, as she left class, she turned to stare at him, and at that same moment, he glanced up from his guitar flashing a smile her way. Perpetuated by him, she fell to the ground and dropped her books. The handsome man she spent weeks looking at came over and offered her a hand. After helping her to her feet, picking up the books, and brushing dirt of her jacket, he introduced himself as Michael Green, a teaching major and avid music lover.
With nothing to do for the rest of the afternoon, Charlotte took up his invitation of having lunch at a nearby diner. Over coffee and pie, they got to know each other and found they shared common interests, both were Carolina natives and lovers of the arts, for her drama, for him music. They sat there the whole day talking right up until closing time, when the waitress informed them they had to leave.
In a matter of a week, they began dating, then within a few months, she moved into his off-campus apartment. Their days were spent attending classes, which Michael escorted Charlotte to. During the nights, when they had no studying they settled down to watch a movie or occasionally go to a bar where Michael and his band performed. Nearly a year after they first met, Michael got down on bended knee and proposed, which Charlotte happily accepted. Their parents wanted them to wait until they finished college before they married, but neither Michael nor Charlotte were a fan of long engagements, so one weekend, they ran off and eloped. Afterwards they had a small celebration with their family and friends in their apartment; pizza, chips, and beer served as part of their reception dinner.
Charlotte stared at her wedding picture, she in a white flowing gown and Michael in a plaid suit with his hair tied back into a ponytail. Then she stared at another picture of her and Michael, this one taken six years ago. He looked as handsome as ever, although his long hair cut to a more suitable short style, but he still flashed that dazzling smile she fell in love with.
As she stared at his picture, she ran her fingers through her long dark hair; the last few years haven't been kind to her. She used to have a wonderful life, she and Michael were the picture perfect couple raising their four kids; Jack, Scott, Alicia, and Peter; in Westmore. They had dreams of one day seeing their children get married and have children of their own. Sadly that dream ended four years ago, when her husband was killed in a car crash on his way home from work, in an instant their perfect life was shattered.
The first year after his death, Charlotte was a zombie; spending most of her time in her bedroom, cut off from her family and the rest of the world. All day and night she would cry her heart out, causing stress to her body. Finally, her children stepped up to the plate and got her out of her trance like state. They convinced her, this isn't what daddy would've wanted. He wouldn't want her to mope around all day, he'd want her to go out and enjoy life. Although she didn't want to admit it, she knew they were right, knowing Michael he'd be fussing at her behavior. Instead of staying home, wallowing in self-pity day-after-day, she finally got out and did something with her life. She owned a successful business with her best friend, and her kids, although all grown and had lives of their own, still made time for their dear old mom.
Although she was doing better and had moved on with her life, deep down she still missed Michael.

Author Bio:

I’m a young author from the small town of Ringgold, VA. Growing up I was a huge fan of reading, and it was no surprise to anyone when I decided to pursue a career in writing.

After graduating from Old Dominion University with a degree in Professional Writing, I started my first book Going Home Again released by Romance Divine in February 2010. For my next book Westmore, I turned to self-publishing and a love of soap operas to write the novel, which is the first in a long line of volumes.

When I’m not busy writing, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing my three dogs and two cats.
