Sarah Stuart | 108 comments I used 3 points of view in my first book and the next in the series will have four. I think it helps readers to empathise if you don't swamp them with too many. It is possible to show other characters in considerable detail if you choose carefully.

"Of all the fundamental elements of fiction, "narrative" is when POV can most individualize a story..."
"POV choices can affect narrative not only because each character has his own perspective on what the story's action means, but also because all characters might not experience the same events." Alicia Rasley (pge. 42 POV And The Elements Of Story)
Rasley has an excellent book: The Power of Point of View (Make Your Story Come to Life).

William Faulkner used multiple points of view in some of his novels.
