Old Books, New Readers discussion

I loved this book. At first it was very bland and looked like it was going to be very boring. But slowly as I kept reading I found myself drawn into the book to such a point that I could not put it down. It is told from the point of view of the main charters man servant. The master is a very controlled seemingly unfeeling man who never changes his schedule. Then out of the blue he takes a bet to go around the world in 80 days and the story begins.!

I have this book too! I have this awesome old copy that I'm really excited about, from 1910 or something. I'm excited to read it, more so now that I know it's good.

Wow cool! I love old copy's of book. I have a really old version of Ivan Hoe by Sir Walter Scott that I love! I should start a thread on that. You should read Around the World in 80days though, by the end I had completely changed my opinion of it.

Huh. I never knew it was a first person POV. I thought it was third. Guess I'll have to read it again...but yes, I like this book too. :)

It is third person, but it mostly from the manservant.

I read this one some years ago. I don't remember too much about, though I have watched the David Niven film at least half a dozen times.
