I just finished the Farseer series myself--really enjoyed it!

Oh, the Borrowers! Do those books bring back memories - I still own three of them in hardback, signed by the illustrator with original drawings in pen and ink sketched on the title page, and also an unrelated original pen and ink. Beth and Joe Krush were, at one time, teachers of an illustration class I attended at Moore College of Art.
I loved Feed, and it's follow on. YOu're lucky as part 3 is out soon.
I've just finished Golden Fool for the sister group, absolutely excellent. Have gone straight on to Fool's Fate

Then I started two books:

I couldn't stop myself, been crying again! I'm about 75% through.

Wish we could 'like' a comment. :-)

Out of curiosity how far did you get with Sookie before you quit?

Nice on reading Drizzt. Siege of Darkness is a good place to stop.

Wooh! I picked up Homeland just the other day and I'm enjoying it immensely. Th..."
Nice, always nice to see new readers being introduced to Drizzt, even I wish you started with The Crystal Shard first because you get a different view of Drizzt.

I'm also reading Simon R. Green with his first three nightside books, A Walk on the Nightside, which I just finished the first book. I did not find the book to be that good.

I do enjoy the Nightside series -- mostly I like the characters and the setting. I've had mixed luck with his other series -- I like the Eddie Drood books but haven't been impressed with the Carnacki Institute series. And I started reading Deathstalker a few years back and kind of lost momentum at the end of book four. Haven't tried the Hawk & Fisher books yet.
Just finished with Mistborn: The Final Empire which I really liked. Reading with the Fantasy Series group so I am heading right into The Well of Ascension.

Deadhouse gates was, to say it both poetically and funny, deadly great :)
I'm reading Memories of Ice and I can tell you it seems to me the series gets better with every page and chapter :)

I've read through House of Chains and so far, yes, they get better every page. As much as I enjoyed DG and MoI, HoC has been my favorite so far. Such a great series.

btw I disagree with the "haters" that the characterization isnt so deep or that worldbuilding takes over too much... he just doesnt describe characters in long paragraphs, laying them bare all at once... one has to work to know them, step by step, from the story, from the dialogues, which are masterfully done I think... and worldbuilding is just right for such vast world, with all its ancient sites and all... the story has a fast pace... usually when you have thick tomes the pace just drags and drags but not here... the pace is fast throughout, barely giving you a chance to breathe :)

I got several chapters into All Together Dead, the seventh book in the series. I just couldn't take the awkward, creepy sex scenes anymore. I have no problem with sex scenes but the way they were written made me uncomfortable, and that's hard to do.

I'm not aware of that kind of criticism of the Malazan series, but I'd have to disagree that characterization takes "he just doesnt describe characters in long paragraphs, laying them bare all at once" and that in fact good characterization does come from the action, dialogue, etc.
I'm one who decided that the series isn't my cup of tea, but not because of shallow characterization. I just didn't care enough about any of them to continue.

Frank Tuttle's The Banshee's Walk was the most awesome of the series yet.
and
Tamora Pierce's Bloodhound was really good. This is epic fantasy, which I don't read a lot. I had mixed emotions about this book. Really well written and I love the style, but there were some things I didn't like. I've already checked out Mastiff (the third) from the library and started it. But I'm wondering if I should take a break from Beka and her adventures for a bit...

UGH. Epic fantasy is long and I spent too much time on these last two books in the series. Thank God there aren't any further ones. Not recommended.

I followed that up with The Wolf Gift by Anne Rice and I'm sorry I wasted my time with it. I expect this will become a series, but I won't be reading it.
Currently, I'm reading Christopher Moore's newest book, Sacre Bleu: A Comedy d'Art, and I'm absolutely loving it.
Next month, I plan on reading Hide Me Among the Graves by Tim Powers. The Beyond Reality book group has two selections for May, Embassytown and Jack of Shadows. I will probably read the first and, since I barely remember it, I might re-read the second. Sadly, I'll be skipping the Fantasy Book Club's May selection since I haven't liked anything I've read by Jim Butcher.

Now I'm finally tackling A Clash of Kings
