Amy Keeley (safire_blue) Hello,

Do you like stories about damsels in distress? About desperate prayers to lofty gods?

I am looking for honest reviews of my short story, Master of Roads, for its Kindle page as a way of preparing my backlist for my upcoming novel. The short, Master of Roads, is about 8,800 words and has a strong romance at its heart. Though there's a passionate scene and some (on occasion graphic) violence, there's no sex scene.

Please let me know if you're interested and I'll send you a .pdf of my story for an objective review.

Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you!

Amy

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 18 comments I'll be able to handle the graphic violence and oh, I do adore romance novels. Please send me a copy! Except please PM me instead of writing me in the formant of email.

Amy Keeley (safire_blue) Thanks, Laura and Anna!

Laura, it's on its way.

Anna, I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to PM you. I'm new to GR's system and have been messaging others through profile pages. Because yours is set to private, is there some other way I can PM you? A link I've missed perhaps?

Anna (SylviaGrant) | 18 comments You can send me a email, I suppose. Try it again since I have set it so all goodread members can see my profile picture then click on send message and please have your story in that message, I do long to read it..however do it the way you wish to do it.

Amy Keeley (safire_blue) Still can't see it. It might work if I "friend" you. I'll try that, if you don't mind.

There's a description and an excerpt on my blog:

Sonya Solomonovich | 4 comments Actually, I can just put the description here...
Robert Visconti is an antique dealer living in a museum-like house filled with the souvenirs of his many travels. After two divorces, he decides to take the same systematic approach to love as he does to his collection. He publishes a personal ad, hoping to find someone who would love him, care for him – and appreciate his collection of art and artefacts from around the world.

He receives a call from a woman who is not exactly an art expert: Brandi West, an exotic dancer who has recently moved to LA in an attempt to restore her shattered confidence and become a Hollywood actress. Even though Brandi has a somewhat limited vocabulary and no knowledge of the art world, sparks begin to fly in this hilarious older man/younger woman relationship. Can Brandi get her confidence back and learn to use long words? Can Robert change his snobbish approach to dating? Will a Chihuahua-obsessed diva come between them? All of these questions are answered as the couple finds out what it means to be “Very Much Alive.”

Dear friends:
I just started getting involved with discussions recently. I am not sure how this works, but I would be glad to review someone's work. I have done reviews before. I also just published an ebook which I would love anyone to review, but I don't know how to get this done either. I was in journalism for many years, but novels are something different, aren't they? Thanks

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Hi Anna, try checking out YouWriteOn. I joined a few weeks ago and it's working really well for me so far. What happens is you review someone's work which gains you a credit which you allocate against whichever peice of your own writing you want reviewed. I've already had lots of reviews which have been very helpful and, like here, it's a very supportive community. OK, as far as novels go, you can only upload up to 7,000 words at a time, but you can do it in chunks. Short stories can go up in their entirety.

Another option is the Authors Requesting Reviews thread here on GR, but (correct me if I'm wrong here anyone) I think the focus there is more on printed copies.

Final option (from me - no doubt other people here have more options for you) - much as I'd like to support you by buying your book, I'm always totally brassic. If you'd like to gift it I'll happily do a review for you, but you'll 3rd in the queue I'm afraid, and I'm not a particularly fast reader. Also, I don't have a review blog but would leave a review on Smashwords for you, and contact you with any suggestions. This is, of course, supposing you want the opinion of someone who has only managed to get published as an indie author. I have a long line of rejections by agents lol!

Whatever you decide, all the very best of luck :-)

Anna Patterson (romancenovelistannapatterson) | 10 comments Dear Jay,
I will look up all these things you said. I would rather wait until you are caught up. I know I am not sure at this point in time when I can get caught up, because I am behind on everything! Anyway, thanks for suggestions and I will see what I can do.

Thanks!

And thank you to all those who have published their reviews on Kindle, and those who were willing to read in the first place. I'm thrilled with the outcome and appreciate everyone's help very much!
