2. Do you agree that volume trumps calories and our stomachs are bad at math?


Christy | 3 comments Yes, our bodies are craving nutrients. As soon as the body has the right fuel, we naturally eat less.

Lina  | 4 comments I think to a degree this is true. For example, if I eat a cup of miso soup before I eat sushi, then I feel fuller on less sushi.

However, if I'd just eat three bowls of miso soup and no sushi, I'd get hungry again quicker, even if the total volume of the soup was about the same amount as the volume of one bowl and sushi.

So in that scenario, my stomach realized that there were much less calories in my meal (or probably more realistic: the food cleared my stomach faster, making room for more food...)
