I'm just curious if anyone has an idea of what they will be reading over the next few months. I tend to have a vague idea of where I intend to go and being involved with Goodreads (plus one of my sisters and one of my aunts always handing me books) has just exacerbated that trend. So here goes (not necessarily in order):

War & Peace (in progress)
Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem (Everyone's Choice)
Me Talk Pretty One Day (Everyone's Choice)
Living Dead & Dallas by Charlaine Harris
Club Dead by Charlaine Harris
The Tomb by F.Paul Wilson (GR friend rec)
A Rumor of War by Philip Caputo (recent gift and long time TBR for me)
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Druid's Sword, Troy Game Book 4 by Sara Douglass(need to finish series and my wife has read all others by this really good author)

So, yeah, I have my work cut out for me!!!

Yea I have been trying to narrow the books down but it never seems to work. I think I might do this:

Also no tin order

Motherless Brooklyn (still waiting for it from the library)
Black Flies
Me Talk Pretty One Day
Breaking Dawn (although I really don't want to)
Deadly Dreaming Dexter
1984
A CHild Called It (Still waiting from the library)

And I am sure this will all change but I have some hopes...

I'll probably do the David Sedaris, too.

I started A Child Called It a few years ago. That is just some crazy stuff.

It has been on hold at the library for over 2 months it says that it is In Transit bu tI will belive it when I see it.

I came up with 100 books I'm going to read next year. I figured if I can read 100 books then it will only take me 8 more years to finish reading the 1001 books before I die list! I know I'm nuts! But I love being this way.

Kelly | 11 comments Way to go Emilee. You can do it.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

That's awesome! I'm pretty sure that I will never finish that list but I'll probably pick off about a dozen or so a year through natural selection.

I am trying to do 65 books before November 2009. I've started out OK but then....?

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

That's a great goal. I signed in to that book challenge group and I'm going to shoot for 50 in '09. That's a lot for me, but I've been knocking off more books per month as of late.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Donna you'll do it and probably surpass it.

Jeremy you can do 50 easy that's only 4 books a month!

I am hoping. THX!!!

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, I'm certainly going to try. But there is a little sport involving wooden sticks and hurling objects that sometimes slows my reading down.

I have been trying to sleep more then read.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

I try to read more than sleep but my body won't let me. At some point around 10pm or 11pm (or earlier some nights) I keep falling asleep and then finally give up trying after 20 minutes or so.

By the way, I'm going to be severely behind by the end of this month. It will be a challenge just to catch up!

I am with you on that one. I blame it on the holidays!!! The book I am reading now would have normally took me a day or two but it's been sometime. I just can't seem to keep my eyes open!!!

Ah well. Tis the New Year!!! We will catch up then.

Happy New Year to all!!!!

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, Merry New Year!!! Mine starts in about 12 hours, except I plan on being in bed long before that!!

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeremy I do the same thing. If the book is really good I however, find myself up til 1 am. I try to start reading about 8 or 8:30 because 10 hits and I am usually exhausted!

Kelly | 11 comments Hey Emilee. I love your picture. It's so sweet. I confess I am a cat lover. I also like the way you spell your name. More pzazz. LOL. Sorry just thinking out loud.

Finally I got some reading done!!! My hubby let me sleep and so did the baby so I awoke nice and fresh (for now) AND Motherless Brooklyn finally came into the library so I will start that very soon. Then of course I go onto Me Talk Pretty One Day

How is everyone else doing???

OK. Here is my updated to reads list:

Motherless Brooklyn (EC)
Me Talk Pretty One Day (EC)
Bridge of Sighs (WBC)

And the rest will soon follow. I am trying to get thru all this but this has been dragging. I blame it on babies & holidays!!!

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Phew! I've been away from GR for 7 days, which is not easy for me to do. I'm still slogged down with W&P (do I sound like a broken record?) although I don't feel slogged down by the writing. My current projection has me finishing by the 20th. That's the engineer in me.

I liked Bridge of Sighs. A lot.

Good Luck AGAIN!!!

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

I am going to read Seeing myself sometime in the near future. Although Blindness is also on the list...

message 25: by Donna, The Pusher (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 3119 comments Mod
You hafta read Blindness first because in they mention that it was 4 years ago and yadda yadda. You will see but first you gotta finish W&P!!!

message 26: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 15, 2009 05:47AM) (new)

Big ha ha. I'm on a roll right now. I think by next weekend!

I've heard great things about Saramago. I think I'll try to squeeze them in somewhere round about April.

By the way, Happy New Year to you, too! :)
