I could have sworn I commented on this yesterday, but well you know how that goes. I think I am going to pass on reading this then. I thought the first one was entertaining, although I do think the part where she went to the psychiatric facility disrupted the flow of the book. I can accept a fantasy world from authors but they have to start to sell me on that in book one. I think your problem and my problem would be that she shifted the entire universe on us without any warning at all.

LOL but seriously I do believe in voodoo! I am not sure that I believe in all the voodoo dolls and potions but I believe in it as a form of religion to those people who practice it. It has it's foundations in Catholicism and there is even "light" or "white" voodoo and "dark" voodoo, Most commonly we hear of the dark.
I agree I don't want to read about it and had I known that Existence would turn into that in Predestined then I never would have read it. Holly if you are looking for a book with a similar story line without any of the voodoo try
AbandonAbandon
It is a really great book and Meg Cabot won't ever steer you wrong!

Meg wrote The Princess Diaries I didn't read the books but I saw the movie. Another good book by her is All-American Girl.
I really liked Abandon. It was one of the best YA/paranormal books that I have read. She does a great job of character development and I don't feel she rushed the story at all. It is out in paperback now so hopefully it will be easier to find from your library. Holly, how does your library e-books work? I confess I have no idea how that works.

Have you read
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer?
Wow it is so good!! I was hooked from the get go but my daughter said that it took her a little while to get into it, but once she did she loved it as much as me!

The sequel will be out soon as far as I can tell. What I like about it is that I haven't read any other Ya/Paranormal that is anything like it. I am not sure if I even know what the Paranormal aspect is. The author doesn't spell everything out and she leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Normally I hate those kind of endings but with this book it really worked. I didn't feel short changed at all.

LOL I so know what you mean! I actually read a Vampire Series that is amazing!
My Blood Approves
There are 4 books in the series and I loved them. I never read the whole Twilight series because they bored me. These 4 books are not boring at all. I guess they are sort of like Twilight but I think Amanda Hocking is a much better writer than Meyer.

I really liked them!! I have the first in the Trylle (spelling??) trilogy but I haven't started on it yet. So many books so little time!!!

A good paranormal series is the Mageri series. Not vamp or were but a different type of paranormal altogether

Have you tried Walking Wolf Road? The author is a member of this group. I have it on my NOOK and I plan to read it in the next few weeks. The first few pages are what sold me on it. If you have a NOOK I will be glad to lend it to you.

trilogy. I enjoyed Existence although I thought if took the author to long to develop the characters. The second book Predestined was very dark. I guess I am not into voodoo. I had a hard time reading this book. The storyline was to far fetched for me. Unfortunately there's a third one and if I want to see what happens I will have to read it.
Knowing me I will read it! I gave it three stars because I like the way the author writes and I enjoyed the main characters.
