Not a chance in heck! >:E But these are rather unique crafts, nevertheless.

No way! Though there is a pattern out there to make a purse out of vintage hardcover bindings that I'd love to try. :D I'd still feel brief guilt at mangling a book just to make a newfangled accessory that I'd really have no use for (I'm a wallet in the back pocket kind of girl.)

Haha, yah...but what about really terrible books, that cannot rightly be censored/banned/bonfire starter-kit, so you memorialize their craptastic existence in other means of ceremonial sacrifice? lol

Also, I'm ambushing your shelves Karla, so I can find old books that may be on Kindle now. :o You're probably the best source of oldies potential.

By all means! I'd love to know that my hoarding has some beneficial use. :D

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 39 comments No way would I part with the bodice rippers I loved as a teenager. They are safely stored in my grown up daughter's old bedroom. Thirty year old classics like The Wolf and the Dove, Shanna, Sweet, Savage Love, Rangoon and some old Karen Robards.... They are like treasures to me. Love them, yellowing pages and all.

Donnad | 1 comments They are pretty! I hope it was a bad book. I saw some people talking about what to do with old books here too http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/tips-...

It would be awesome if Amazon offered a physical for ebook swap program. Mail in your old, unwanted physical books and get a free or steeply discounted ebook edition. Amazon could keep and sell the used books, and make us more dependent on our Kindles.

What an astute idea! Although, they're so hard to come by these days, I'm even starting my own mini-library, in my closet and out of the way, so that I don't completely succumb to the digitized world.

It is a good idea, but when I open my closet that is 3 deep and ceiling high of all those beautiful cover books..and the book smell..and to touch them*sigh* cant beat that, and I dont mind the carrying around :)

I've actually taken it upon myself to paint a few hatboxes in fetching colors; stenciled them to accentuate my living room decor, and scattered them along my the room. I filled them with paperbacks. :D It totally just appears as though I'm a collector of hatboxes! I have a stack in one corner, four boxes high. They're square, larger to smaller sizes, and it's as if they belong there. XD

I love hat boxes... my grandmother gave me one, I use to put old love letters in, etc. I'm a sentimental fool. Lol

Thank ladies. I have a box also for photos... Albums are great, but shuffling through a box of photos seems so personal and homely. :D
