Anna Kļaviņa (annamatsuyama) | 425 comments I read it like decade ago but book was probably published at late nineties.
Young adult, science fiction, dystopia.
Set in not so far futures when some children are born able to get in some sort of trance and allow their mind to wonder in the web and act like some intelligent programme. When they are discovered they are taken away from their homes and imprisoned and experimented.
Main character is rich girl who secretly is one of these children. She sometimes for fun allows her mind to wonder in internet but somehow she learns about these imprisoned children and her world changes.
At one point she is imprisoned herself and there she meets boy to whom is done something that he can’t move silently. Every time he moves there is awful sound.
There were a lot description of torture that have been inflicted to these teens and I most likely didn’t finish reading.

Anna Kļaviņa (annamatsuyama) | 425 comments No. And I checked out that tread as well.
I think author was female.

Esme | 17 comments The part about a girl letting her mind wander through the internet reminds me of Hex, which features a girl named Raven who can do just that. I remember the book being really intense and a little scary, but I read it a long time ago. Hope that helps!
