((Do you? Hm, I don't...))

Raven grinned, now doing a pretty darn good job looking like a stereotypical knife-wielding supposed psychopath who had trapped a young girl in what was essentially a closet. "I'll paint it on the wall for your rescuer to find," he chuckled. "Okay? I don't have time to explain it to you." But of course he wouldn't explain the whole thing if he were to paint the wall: there would only be one word. Much more horrorish, he thought. And that's what he was going for.

Now Yvette's brace facade fell. She was truly afraid. He could kill her. So easily.

She took a step backwards, then another.

Raven followed suit, but moving forward instead of back. "We can do this two ways," he told her, tossing the knife up in the air and catching it by the handle. "The easy way or the hard way. Me, I'm fine with either; I'll still me the one doing the maiming. So I'm going to be gracious and let you choose. Decide now."

Yvette was shaking. She took one more step back.

"Then you go and miss your chance. Like an idiot." The boy's malicious grin widened behind his amusement. "Fine. I'll do it. We'll go at this hard." Raven delivered a kick to her ribs--just for pain--then snapped a roundhouse at her shoulder to get Yvette on the ground. His eyes glittered as they followed her down. "Because I like it rough."

((OH FINE. I thought he'd carve while she was conscious))

Yvette didn't want to die. She screamed. She kicked. She would have gotten up and ran, but a sharp pain in her chest stopped her-- ribs, she presumed.

((Somebody nom the dang Spam. XD))

Raven could put up with such noise for only about two seconds. When that time had gone, he swung the sharp side of the blade in an arc against Yvette's cheek, an equivalent of another slap to the face. "Enough!" he snarled. "Be quiet, Yvette! I'm trying to think!"

Another wince. She could feel wet, warm crimson blood staining the side of her cheek, but she didn't kill.

Goddamn, she didn't want to die! Screams were immediately silenced, though she could not hold back a few sobs.

Raven looked thoughtful a moment, his eyes traveling away from Yvette to focus on a point behind her. After a minute or two, he smiled and snapped his fingers, turning back to the girl. "Okay. Yvette, I need you to hold very, very still over the next few minutes. Otherwise I'll have to start over again and I promise you, you really don't want that."

((:D He's trying to be oh so nice.))

Yvette stumbled out a few noises; they could have been an agreement, or they simply could have been sobs. But she sure wasn't moving.

((No, not really. But he's trying to be fair. XD))

Raven nodded, looking down at the young girl's form as he tried to decide where he would carve his word. His gaze fell on Yvette's left arm, and he flipped it over so that the underside was bared. He set the knife to her skin. "Hold very still," he reminded her. "It's gonna hurt some." Much more than some, actually. "Ready?"

A slight whimper. Salty tears mixed with blood on Yvette's cheek.

"All right then. Let's get started." And Raven did just that, making two little cuts in her arm--deep ones, so they'd scar--that served as quotation marks, moving on to carve N-E-V in deep into Yvette's skin before he paused to check on his victim. "You're doing good," he muttered. "Hold out for a while more, if you can." A smile came, not-so-nice but somehow reassuring. "You can scream too as the need strikes. No one will hear you."

(("Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna turn around... And hurt you." that is the song running through my head x) All it took was "n-e-v".))

Yvette bit on her lip to avoid screaming, and consequentially that too began to bleed. The pain was nearly unbearable. She did her best not to move, not to scream. She didn't want to give him that pleasure.

((Nice.))

Raven shrugged his broad shoulders and turned back to his craft. It took him a while--for he was being careful and wanted everything to be precise and visible--but eventually he sat back, red-stained blade in hand. "And that's that," he said, looking Yvette over. A word, glittering bright crimson, had appeared in her skin: Nevermore. The Indian smiled at it and murmured, "Quoth the raven, 'Nevermore.' It fits beautifully, don't you think?"

(("quoth" :P))

Yvette's eyes were shut tightly. She could feel the imprint of the single word, though it was probably indecipherable due to the blood.

So much blood.... Yvette felt herself getting dizzy.

((That's what I said. He's quoting Poe, don't you see.))

Raven could see the clouds that were beginning to cover the girl's eyes. The smile didn't leave his face, and he patted her shoulder gently. "Don't worry. Someone will find you eventually. You're probably not going to die, Yvette. Though if you do, I can't say I'll cry." He stood, produced a little sack from his pocket, slid the bloody knife in and pulled the drawstring closed. He started out the door, but before he closed it left two words echoing quietly behind him: "Sweet dreams."

((Love this kid<3))

Little by little, Yvette began to drift. She could feel the still rushing blood beginning to pool around her, dripping from the lacerations on her arm and the slice on her cheek. She wouldn't be surprised if her ribs were broken either.

She tried to speak. To scream. To cry. To call for help. But her voice wasn't working.

The sea of unconsciousness overtook her at last.

((enter Domonic))

[Oh! Entering Domonic! XD]

The cheery nurse had come to the file room to return the papers from Cadenza's file that he had borrowed. He was whistling a tune that had no name but the whistling stopped abruptly when he opened the door and it only opened partly, seemingly blocked by something large. Finding this peculiar, he slipped through the door to investigate.

Oh, how his heart dropped when he saw his friend unconscious on the floor with blood all over her. "Yvette!" He cried out and knelt down to shake her. Cadenza's files went everywhere. He started humming again, now a different tune as he shook her.

Shiny happy people laughing...

Yvette was entirely limp. Yes, she was breathing, but she might as well have not been, what with the state she was in. Bloodbwas everywhere, her hair, her skin, the slowly darkening words on her arm...

"Oh my god." Domonic struggled to lift the girl up in his arms despite her nearly nothing weight. Now singing quietly under his breathe and growing louder as the stench if fresh blood entered his nose, Domonic struggled to open the door. In between verses, he would mutter words of encouragement to his trapeze friend. "Stay with me, Yvette. It will all be okay, I promise. Hang in there, hon." He practically ran to the nurses' office, almost slipping due to the blood on the soles of his shoes.

[Obviously lol xD]

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) Lounging against a stack of file cabinets, on the far end of the room, undetectable amongst the towering, unfortunate gray cabinets was an ebony haired girl. Her fingers flicked through a file, as if it were a magazine, taking in the grand majority of the words, though it seemed like she wasn't really reading anything. In a surprising turn of events, Lena's hair was up in a braid, not down in a silken curtain like usual. She only did this when none where there to observe her scars, like now.

"Well! Someone's got her hair all done fancy." The words were drawled and came from the shadows that swathed one of the corners, and if Lena looked that way she would be able to see a pair of eyes gleaming at her from the darkness. They were hard to make out (being almost black themselves) but the spark in them was there, and the dim light made Raven's shadowed silhouette a bit easier to see. He was crouched in the corner, perhaps grinning over at the green-eyed girl as she thumbed through a file--it was impossible to tell, the light made the rest of his face and person invisible--but he at least seemed to be in good humor, judging by the way he was snarking.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) The girl jumped a tad, but kept her face passive and facing down. "Hello Raven. Fancy finding you here." Pale fingers slowly, methodically pulled out her hairband and smoothed the braid out, curtaining the scars once more. Only then did she stand and peer at him. "We always seem to meet in the oddest places." The girl remarked.

"So true!" By his tone--pleasantly amused, as if he were trying not to laugh--Raven was almost definitely grinning. "Tell me Lena, what's a goody-two-shoes patient like yourself doing in places where she's not allowed to go? Hasn't anybody ever told you that curiosity killed the cat?"

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) "But I'm not a cat." Lena smirked, every so literal. "And I'm not a goody-two-shoes patient. I was simply looking." She replied, glancing absently at the files.

Hope | 14351 comments Mod
Raven chuckled darkly. "And good thing, too. Otherwise I'd have to kill you. I don't like cats." He shrugged, stood, and made his way out of the corner towards her, bare feet silent on the stone floor. "Whose file do you have, anyway? You looked bored, reading it."

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) Lena's rose lips curved in the slightest of smiles. Raven amused her so occasionally. "Morgan Gianna D'Aubigne, born the 17th of February, 5 years of age. Blind. " Lena reported, as if reading from the file though the crisp folder lay forgotten on the cool, plain tiles. "Not very interesting." She gave a quaint shrug.

((Double post.))

"No, that girl really isn't." Raven frowned a little, a look of something like sympathy flashing briefly in his eyes. "She doesn't belong here, Morgan D'Aubigne. She's five, for God's sake."

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) Lena caught the flash of sympathy, but it dissipated too quickly for her to really make sure. "She has only one problem recorded, that she is blind." The pale faced girl frowned. "So, what brings you here, my friend?" She inquired casually.

Another shrug came, perfectly casual. "Can't say. I wasn't really paying attention to where I was going when I left my room." He had only know that he was sick and tired of trying to fall asleep when the only thing awaiting him were nightmares, and so he'd gotten up and dressed and picked his lock and walked where his mind saw fit to take him. Wandering the halls at night alone was almost peaceful--if one could ignore the sense of paranoia that began to grow as they continued on. Shadows, Raven had found, were very misleading when wandering the abandoned halls of a sleeping asylum.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) Lena appeared thoughtful. "Nightmares." She determined quietly. "Where you having nightmares? Those often keep me up." The ebony girl said. "That's why I'm in here." She muttered. "Did you see any guards on your way here?" She suddenly inquired, a glint of nerve flashing in emerald eyes. "I kinda slipped away from the guards in the hallway and one of them heard something." She mentally cringed at the memory.

message 139: by Hope , I belong here more than they do. (new)

Hope | 14351 comments Mod
"Guards? No. I had been too wary for that." A very, very slight laugh escaped Raven at the reference to Poe--much quieter, now that Lena had gone and introduced the thought of discovery to his mind--but he soon went back to seriousness. "No," he repeated, "I didn't see any. But that doesn't mean they weren't somewhere nearby." He shrugged a little, his own nervousness beginning to slip away (the thought of nerves had never been able to stick with him for very long, even after he came to St. Peter's). "I wouldn't worry about it, though. It's pretty damn late, so I'm willing to bet that anybody on night shift is paying more attention to how tired they are than the possibility of wandering patients."

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) Lena absently ran her fingers through her thick black mane, nodding. "I imagine you speak the truth." She said, shrugging. "Any victims you have found lately?" She leaned against a bland file cabinet, smirking.

message 141: by Hope , I belong here more than they do. (new)

Hope | 14351 comments Mod
"Victims?" Raven smirked in return and shrugged a little. "The usual," he said. "Guards, nurses. Some of the more haughty that needed to be brought down a peg. But there was one..." he trailed off, turning to the cabinets and sliding open one of the drawers. He began to thumb through the files, muttering occasionally to himself, until finally he got to the M's. "Ah! Middleton. Here we are." He pulled a vanilla file from the drawer and held it out to Lena, nodding at the name written bold across the top: Margot Middleton. "I had some fun with her a little while ago," Raven told her, chuckling slightly.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) Lena took the file from him with pale hands, flipping open the cover. "Ah, the doll obsessed one." She recognized this one, having read her file a little while back. This Margot was certainly the very definition of insane. "Dolly Miss Molly." She murmured. "What did you do to her?" Lena inquired, handing the bland file back.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) ((Hope?))

((I wait four days for you, and you can't give me one? XD))

"Questioned the doll's place in reality." Raven smiled a little at a distant memory and shrugged as he took the file back. "She's quite obsessed with her doll, you know. Obsessed enough to threaten me when I began to make my suggestions." For a moment, silent anger darkened his eyes. She had been bold, Middleton. Bold and stubborn.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) ((I'm really not patient. Sorry my dear.))

Lena chuckled, short and sweet. "I heard about her. Killed her parents because her dolly told her to." She recalled, shrugging. "Just another person to toy with, I guess." Lena was referring to the fact that Raven had a habit to mess with the very odd ones.

"As are you," Raven agreed with a nod. He smiled, only slightly. "As is everyone else. There's not a person on the planet who isn't going to be a toy to someone or something else at one point in their lives or another. That's just how it is."

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) "Except you, Raven." She spoke the words of their little joke, a little while back. Lips lifted in a quaint smile, nearly undetectable in the dimness of flickering lightbulb. She brushed her hair from her face just slightly, for a bare moment revealing her scars. And then they were covered with silk once more.

((Well look at you with your fancy new photo! Very cool.))

At this, Raven couldn't help but laugh. "Lena, you're amazing, you know that? For remembering that, you're just amazing." It had been so long since he'd shared a joke, much less continued on with one for longer than a few minutes. It felt good, laughing about something as insignificant as that, and it felt good to be laughing about it with someone like Lena. Because she wasn't stupid, because she didn't treat him like the others, because she gave him a chance and talked to him like he was a human being and not some sort of fragile device that would shatter in her face if she so much as touched it. It was nice, being with her, melancholy though she was. It was very nice for someone to care.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) ((Thank you!))

Lena shrugged. "'Tis a simple thing to remember." She said, humble as ever. She couldn't help but smile her melancholy, but mysteriously glittering smile, a smile that was like the sun peeking through the rain.

"Simple, yes, but do you know how long it's been since someone's bothered to share a joke with me?" Raven smiled too, and laughed a little as he spoke. It wasn't a toneless laugh, but it held just a touch of bitterness. "Seven years, that's how long. It's nice of you to remember and bring it up again."
