Joanie | 714 comments Okay-so every New Year I resolve to get more organzied at home and work and to utilize my time better but I never seem to get far. Does anyone have recommendations for books on getting organized? There are a million out there but I'd love to hear from someone who found one with a system that worked for them.

I know there are a bunch of website too, any worth checking out? Of course if you're all so organized you would never need a book to help you out I'd love to hear some of your own personal strategies too!

Thanks all!

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Oooo I can give you a reccommendation!

Anything by Julie Morgenstern is great! Her system is all about your own personality and needs. It's great.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 636 comments i've heard that Flylady website is really helpful. I tried it..but it became too overwhelming for me with school..but everyone else RAVES about it.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I have a book called The Messies Manual which seems to be pretty interesting. Lots of tips, but I haven't tried any. I'm way too lazy!

That's one of my major NYR's: Be less LAZY!

Laura (apenandzen) YUP - Julie Morgenstern's book Organising from the Inside Out is the greatest organization book EVER. I completely agree w/Emma.

It's a fantastic book, so is Time Managing from the Inside Out.

Liz (hissheep) LOL, my daughter says to stop collecting books about organizing and just do it!

PS But all of these are great suggestions ... take it from one who's covered them all!

Haha, LIz. At least your daughter is very straightforward! Do you tend to listen to her?

Now that's funny, Jeane ;o) And the answer is "some times". But then the next question is? Does she listen to me? Although I will admit, she comes up with pretty good comments!

PS And thanks April for two new organization sites!

Carol Gordon Ekster (cekster) | 1 comments Just finding this a bit late, but wanted to share that if perhaps we share books on organization when our children are young, they will grow up to be organized. I wrote a picture book after teaching elementary school for 35 years and seeing how much the skill of organization affects young ones and their families. Here is the book trailer for my book, Ruth the Sleuth and the Messy Room, Character Publishing, 2011, complete with a "guide to raise organized children page" at the back of the book. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IQeZa...
