How have we gotten this far without an Ask janine thread??

I'll start: janine, are the guys you date circumcised or no?

message 2: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I would never think to ask her something like that.

message 3: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24779 comments Mod
Is it rude?

message 4: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Not necessarily. I just wouldn't have thought of it. I want to know how many miles a day she rides her bicycle.

message 5: by Cyril (new)

Cyril That is the sort of question that if one were drinking milk at the time of hearing it, said milk would forcefully spray from both mouth and nose.

"South Korea has possibly the largest absolute number of teenage or adult circumcisions anywhere in the world. Because circumcision started through contact with the American military during the Korean War, South Korea has an unusual history of circumcision."

Finland has a neonatal circumcision rate of zero.

Is this what lies in your future, when you become a Dutch Wife?

Let's hope not, I would suffocate.

Félix wrote: "janine wrote: "What are these miles you speak of?"

Depends on what I'm doing that day. I usually walk to the supermarket and don't have a job to go to. My average is probably 2 km a day. I used to ride my bicycle to school, 36 km a day.

evie wrote: "How long have you been bi-lingual?"

I wouldn't call myself bi-lingual. I didn't speak a word of English when I was 10 (except for yes, no, etc.). TV, books, internet, TC, and some teachers have helped improve that situation. I now even use the occasional oxford comma.

Amber ~Geektastic~ wrote: "Why are you so cool, j-9? Is it the European air or is it genetic?"

::blushes::

Must be the coolness of the people around me making me seem cool.

Not that I know of. She has had a couple of husbands, though. I have no idea if they were circumcised.

I don't have a friend I would call my best best friend, but I have a group of friends - or several groups of friends. I'm also pretty close with my sisters and mother. And then there's the penpal, my TC friends, etc.

Félix (habitseven) “The value of the Repair Cafe is that people are going back into a relationship with the material things around them,” Mr. McDonough said.

Take, for example, Sigrid Deters’s black H&M miniskirt with a hole in it.

“This cost 5 or 10 euros,” about $6.50 to $13, she said, adding that she had not mended it herself because she was too clumsy. “It’s a piece of nothing, you could throw it out and buy a new one. But if it were repaired, I would wear it.”

Would you wear a repaired miniskirt? How about while riding your bicycle for 2 kilometers?

message 34: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments I've heard of the Repair Cafe, but I've never been. Once electronics die I usually buy something new. My mother sometimes still repairs clothes for me. And yes, I would ride my bicycle for 2 kilometers in repaired clothes. The most repaired item I own is probably my bicycle. A lot of the parts have been replaced at least once.

janine | 7709 comments Félix wrote: "What do you think of Queen's Day -- and do you celebrate like this?"

I love Queen's Day, but I usually celebrate by buying used crap and eating this:

Wearing orange and drinking beer is also fun, but I prefer doing that while watching football (known to you as the s-word).

Sally wrote: "What do the Dutch think of people who could be either a toothless crone or an adolescent boy?"

The Dutch would like to throw this person a parade. On boats.

Lobstergirl wrote: "Have you been to the U.S., and what did you think?"

I haven't, but I'm thinking of doing a themed tour, sponsored by TCers.

At first I read this as throw this person on a parade and I imagined the crustacean tossed onto a float of drag queens.

What are those delicacies you eat on Queen's Day? They look yummy. Does Mr. Yummy also eat them?

Sewer, smoked eel, cheese market. I'm also not a fan of weed smoke.

They're called roombroodjes or puddingbroodjes. What you need: white bread roll (what we like to call cadetje - those are round/square-ish - or puntje - more of a pointy/oval shape), creamy vanilla pudding, and powdered sugar. Attack bread with knife, fill with pudding, top with sugar.

Mr. Yummy only eats Sultana.
