Christa VG (christa-ronpaul2012) | 3184 comments I am not sure exactly what is going to go on in this thread, but someone asked for a place where they could put their list of classic books, is that right? Well here you go. I look forwards to seeing it.

As someone new to reading classics this list is a great resource. Thanks for all your hard work.

If you're new to classics than I would strongly recommend reading Jane Eyre, To Kill a Mockingbird, and maybe a few plays like A Doll's House and A Streetcar Named Desire.

They are very fast-paced and helped me get into classics.

Jada Stuart (JadasArtVision) | 211 comments Don't you just love it when you've read some of the books in lists like these? :) I've read 5 of them. I've made a small dent in the list lol. There were a lot of titles that I'm surprised weren't on there. I didn't see To Kill a Mockingbird and that book is pretty important.

Lora (lorabanora) I have a love/hate relationship with other peoples' book lists. I usually find something good in the pile to pull out and claim for myself, but I also see things that are not satisfying to me at all. Recently I read that we need to make our own book lists- personal reflections of ourselves. Well, where else to start, lol, than by perusing through other lists?

Very true! I have an ever-growing list but I have no idea which ones I personally would enjoy most. That's the difficult part. I have 4 books on my self that I bought and started but wasn't interested enough to finish. One day hopefully though.

Thanks Jada,
I knew I was getting older when my daughters had read more classics than me. I've seen the play "The Street car named desire". I will look the book up.

It's not really a novel but the script to the play. To me, I understand the story to a classic play better if I read it and then see it performed. And yes I love the movie. Very good adaptation. This play in particular has many symbols from the setting, characters names, the dialogue, imagery, etc.

Wonderful list, I have acutally read six books on this list.

message 11: by Jon (new)

Jon | 401 comments I have read 20 from Talia's list, and several of them occurred directly as a result of the discussions here on Goodreads OBNR. So I will credit OBNR for that.

Neat! I' read 9 and I'm currently reading two on the list but haven't finished yet. :)

message 13: by Terry (new)

Terry I've read 16 and I'm very excited about next months Anna Karenina! OBNR definitely has encouraged me too. There are some on the list which I have no interest in either due to description or I have tried and they don't hold my attention BUT, that's OK everyone has there own taste

message 14: by Tim (new)

Tim | 464 comments I've read 14. Would love to read Anna Karenina but don't think I can pull it off next month. Oh well, that's life and schedules.

Hi Tim,

We are actually doing this one over two months. :) If you want to join in on the discussion later feel free. We always leave the discussions open and we encourage others to post in the old threads. :)
