I removed that for you.

booklady | 2 comments Hello! Although a long time member, I don't exercise my librarian status often. However today when I wanted to add a quote by G. K. Chesterton, the book to which the quote actually belongs doesn't pop up as one of the choices among the 27 book options. What do I do. Technically speaking it is in Vol. IV. but I'd rather identify it as coming from the title "What is Wrong with the World". How do I do that? Thanks in advance for any help!

You need to use G.K. Chesterton, not G. K. Chesterton.

Meredith | 1 comments I'm a new librarian. How do I edit a quote?

message 5: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments First you have to be on the page specific to the quote. If you aren't here yet, you can get here by clicking on the link that says "xx people liked it."

Once there, at the very top there should be a line that looks like this:

Author Name > Quotes > Quotable Quote (edit)

Click on "edit" and you're good to go.

Sara Alaee (sara_alaee) | 2 comments Hi,
I'm not a librarian, so I can't do editing. Could you please edit this quote's author? : https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/202537
It's not Rumi, it's اهورا ایمان (Ahoura Iman).

Thank you.

Steve | 16 comments I just added a quote for Geoffrey Hill. I can't edit it, but the quote should be in four line stanzas (See below). Also, I wanted to include the title of the collection, Canaan. If someone could correct those, I'd be grateful. -- Steve

The risen Christ! Once more
faith is upon us,
a jubilant brief keening
with respite:

Obedience, bitter joy,
the elements, clouds,
winds, louvres where the bell
makes its wild mouths:

Holy Rus – into the rain’s
horizons, peacock-dyed
tail feathers of storm,
so it goes on.”

Jill (jilldotchom) | 1 comments Hello,

How do I correct a typo in a quote I posted/added. Unfortunately, I did this more than once - will try to be more careful. I deleted one quote and was going to just post it anew - but realized that did not delete it from goodreads, just from myquotes. I don't want to add duplicate quotes.
My recent mistake is to a quote by Christopher Catherwood from "A Brief History of the Middle East" (missing an "i")

The best place is to add a message at the end of this thread:

Geoff Glenister | 12 comments I'm not a librarian, and I wish to edit a quote I added. When I copied it from another source, it had double-dashes in two places. I caught one and changed it to a single dash, but didn't notice the other until it was too late. Could someone get the other double-dash? Here:

I've used the em-dash. Is that OK?

Thanks! Looks great! It just annoyed me that the two dashes were different. ;)

message 15: by Geoff (new)

Geoff Glenister | 12 comments Sorry to come right back with more issues - I added three quotes today, and each time I was having trouble with the captcha. I didn't realize it until all three were in, but if you mess up the captcha, when the page comes back up the selection for the book the quote came from is blanked out. Could someone fix these for me?

This quote:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/4955234
is from this book:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

These two quotes:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/4955704
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/4955592

Come from this book:

Saniya (saniyam) | 6 comments When I was typing security part too see if you are a computer or not, I accidentally typed it in my quote so now my quote says "15Band-aids don't fix bullet holes" Taylor Swift. I was wondering if anyone can somehow edit that quote and remove the number 15.

Deleted.

There is already another version of this quote:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/1168...
Do you need to add another?

message 24: by Carina (new)

Carina | 77 comments Hey Librarians,

Hoping you can help me out. I was trying to add a quote from the Rainbow Valley book by L M Montgomery. When I first tried adding it it brought up the right author, the drop down option for the book etc. However the 'captcha' thing never loaded so the page reset. I assumed that the info I had already entered was still there but the quote hasn't been assigned to the book and appears to be against a different account for the same author.

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Any chance someone can be kind enough and edit this so it shows up with the book details? The book it should be 'linked' with is:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...

Thanks in advance for your help!

Any chance of a link to the quote?

message 26: by Carina (new)

Carina | 77 comments It's the first link - I couldn't find a way to get the quote on its own without the author page...

Here:

I've moved it to the main L.M. Montgomery profile.

Edit: Lucy Maud probably needs combining.
