Welcome Marco. I'm sure you'll find a lot here to interest you.

April (aprilvoytkokempler) Thank you so much on the tutorial on adding book cover and author links. I'm April, by the way, and really happy to be in the group.

Mark Mortensen Welcome Marco to the world wide History Club. Years ago my older son turned 18 in Rome!

message 5654: by Mark (new)

Mark Mortensen Welcome officially April. I’m glad you could join us.

Although you may have mastered book postings, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo (when available) and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how a book you might mention should look:

The Passage of Power (The Years of Lyndon Johnson #4 ) by Robert A. Caro Robert A. Caro Robert A. Caro

Please use the “(preview)” tab to view your alignment before officially “posting”.

Scott | 0 comments Hello, friends--

My name's Scott, a resident of western PA, middle-aged Dad of 2 boys, a clergyman, and a complete nerd. I love many styles of reading, including biographies/autobiographies, history, historical fiction, classics, theology, sci-fi, fantasy, mysteries, westerns, and it goes on from there. I'm a big gamer as well. I'm part of a couple of other book clubs on Goodreads, but then as I was browsing I found you folks, and I was very pleased to see there was some great discussion going on around history. Looking forward to taking part in the discussions. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Edit: just figured out your preferred format for the "add book/author" feature, so I'm ready to go. Looking forward to jumping in soon!

Pam, from your statement I believe you need to do the book and then go back and do the author, two times if there is a photo. The (preview) tab below will show a picture.

For the book itself, just show the cover by selecting the radio button. For the author, select his/her photo as well. Then, duplicate the author link, but this time choose the link. So, once for the book (cover) and twice for the author (photo, then link). Like so...

Pam you are almost there but you have two bookcovers and four parts.

First the bookcover which you have, then the author's photo should be second and the author's name which is called the author's link is third.

Why don't you go to the Mechanics of the Board thread and practice there. The assisting mods gave you the links.
