Tracey Hi, I am Tracey. I read all kinds of books, not just history. So, I will read a few history books. I wish there were 10 of me to read all of the books I want to read and one time!

Alisa (mstaz) Welcome Tracey, we are glad to have you as a member.

As you get started please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link after all of the text of your post at the bottom of the post . Placement at the bottom of the post calls the reader's attention to the book and/or author and increases the readability of your post. This is how books you mention should look:

The Nine Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court by Jeffrey Toobin by Jeffrey Toobin Jeffrey Toobin

Tracey testing 1.2.3. testing.....

I am reading
The Fourteenth of October The Fourteenth of October by Bryher
by Bryher Bryher

Why? Well I found this really old looking book, very unlike the cover posted here, and because of the cover, I thought it was about a different time period! Oh well! I think I will like it anyway!

message 6108: by Jill (new)

Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) You almost have it Tracey. You need the book cover first but do not need the name or link to the book unless there is not cover, followed by the author's photo and author's link. Look like this:

The Fourteenth of October by Bryher by Bryher Bryher

It becomes second nature after a while.

Michael (lonestar210) | 1 comments Hi. I'm Michael. I'm 25, from San Antonio, Tx and currently live in Tenessee. I've been a history buff for as long as I could remember. I spent 5 hours last week organizing my bookshelves on goodreads. Lately I've been reading the history of my own people (Spanish and Sicilian). I guess I am a Mediterraneanphile? But besides that I am into anything from Alexander the Great to the Vietnam War.

Anyway. I hope to meet like minded people and give and get book recommendations.

Holly (goldikova) Greetings
I'm new here and look forward to interesting discussions of historical figures and events. My favorite historical topics include: French history from the reigns of Francois I through the revolution, British history (mostly pre-Roman and the English civil wars), all of Irish history and local history. In the past year I have been doing a lot of reading on the pre-Raphaelite artists as well as the Arts and Crafts movement and its ties to architecture and the applied arts, which I find especially compelling. I also enjoy historical fiction, especially those pertaining to the above topics.

John | 170 comments My name is John, age 42, and I live in South Carolina, USA. I work for the state government during the day a nd in the evenings I am a history instructor for a local campus University. I have a BA in Liberal Arts, with a major in History and minor in Anthropology and an MA in American History, and also a graduate degree in Museum Administration. I LOVE HISTORY- narrative, public, research, whatever the case may be- but I especially love helping others make a connection to history and see the relevance to them and their lives. I love to teach and work with students!
I started out wanting to be a film historian in my undergrad studies, as I was in theater (and some film and TV work) for most of my childhood and formative years, but my interests proved to be larger. I still have an abiding interest in classic films, but also expanded into larger aspects of American cultural and social history. My emphasis of study is American- Early nation/Revolutionary war/American West history
I look fo rward to learning from the group and seeing great recommendations, reviews and discussion.

Jodi Daynard | 1 comments Hello, I'm glad to be joining you all. I have been an American history enthusiast for many years, with a particular interest in the Revolutionary War, the Founding Fathers and Mothers, Abraham Lincoln, and slavery/slave narratives. The passion seems to be genetic: one of the last conversations I had with my ninety-six year-old-dad before he died last year was about how contentious the 1800 election was. My dad suspected I didn't know quite enough about it, but I assured him I did! I miss those conversations, and look forward to having new conversations about how much I still don't know.
