Alisa (mstaz) Welcome Ashleigh, we are glad to have you as a member.

As you get started please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link after all of the text of your post at the bottom of the post . Placement at the bottom of the post calls the reader's attention to the book and/or author and increases the readability of your post. This is how the book you mentioned should look:

A History Of Scotland by Neil Oliver by Neil Oliver

EJ (EJDAgrosa) | 1 comments Hi, my name is E.J. D'Agrosa and I am a passionate history enthusiast. I read about all aspects of history, but especially love ancient and medieval history (Greece, Rome, Byzantium, the Crusades). I am a self-proclaimed "autodidact"; I have a love of learning. I am interested in discussing history and related matters with like minded people. This seems to be a good place to start.:) I am currently reading a philosophy book; "Leisure: The Basis of Culture" by; Josef Pieper. It discusses how today in modern society we have lost the original meaning of leisure as our ancient and medieval fore-bearers knew it. Thus far very good, and I highly recommend it. Aside from history I read the Classics, Historical Fiction, and Fantasy. My all-time favorite author is J.R.R Tolkien.

Currently Reading:

Mark Mortensen Welcome EJ. Learning is great. I’m glad you joined the History Club.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo (when available) and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text, because this visual alignment not only calls the reader's attention to the book/author promotion, but helps Goodreads software connect books with groups and further increases the readability of your posts.

This is how the book you mentioned should appear as well as a look at a past History Club reading book:

Leisure The Basis Of Culture by Josef Pieper Josef Pieper

Enemies A History of the FBI by Tim Weiner Tim Weiner Tim Weiner

Please use the “(preview)” tab to view your alignment before officially “posting”.

Barbara (barbaraannewaite) I joined this group some time ago but I am not sure I ever added an introduction. I am Barbara, an avid reader with a love of biographies and memoirs. I also enjoy historical fiction. I have discovered I love historical research. I lived for 38 years on the former British island of Antigua in the West Indies. I home schooled all 4 of our children - one now teaches in S. Korea and another graduated from Harvard (he has a doctorate in education and is involved in global studies). Our children had little exposure to TV and much exposure to books. When advising mothers new to home schooling I tell them," give them a life-long love of learning and books." I have enjoyed participating in the group discussions with this reading group.

I am Janis Smith, I am 47 years old and live in Norfolk, UK with my amazing husband, and soul mate, Nicholas, and our deer-hound/lurcher, Pippin. I am absolutely passionate about history - all forms, all eras, all places. I am totally immersed in dark age reading at the moment! Really glad to find a group who are as into history as I am - sometimes think I am the only one! My only problem is there is never enough time to read all the books on my reading list! Other passions are house restoration, knitting, walking, cooking, gardening...not enough hours in the day.

Glad to be part of the group and look forward interacting with you all
