J.L. Murphey (JLMurphey) | 17 comments Just wondering how many of you zombie fans could kill a zombie if it was once a loved one?

I know the answer for me is yes. In my mind they are already dead and I'm putting them out of their misery. But this is a morality issue. In the movies you see families killing other family members, but could you actually do it?

Yep, I couldn't stand to see them like that.

Randy Harmelink | 31 comments For me, the difficulty would come in when you vary the definition of the zombie. Many infection/contagion type stories are similar, but there may be some chance of reversing or curing the condition.

But if it is (not they are) a rotting corpse, no problem. That to me shows irreversibility.

Yes to me they are going to a much better place

Alexis Winning | 104 comments I'd love to say yes, and intellectually I could. I'm not sure how I'd handle it emotionally if I was faced with my zombiefied 4 year old :/

Jerome (gtgs) | 4 comments As a walking putrid rotting want to eat my brains corpse. I would say yes I could kill them

Charmer (+ Vibes Only) | 18 comments I don't know, I could say yes, but I really don't know.

Alisha | 1 comments Either way delivers pain: kill someone with emotional ties, or feel the pain as they kill you. Unless you have given up on all hope, it would seem you would choose to survive and choose the emotional scar

Mikhail Lerma (MLerma) | 21 comments I believe I could do it. Although, my kids would be a different story. I honestly don't know what I would do. Hell, I even had a hard time killing off my zombified best friend (who depicted my actual best friend) in the first book I wrote. Maybe I'm a big wuss.

Maz Marik (mazmarik) | 2 comments Hmm....to kill the face of a loved one....I do not think so....I think I would rather let them eat me than face the world without them.

hIpnoticraQs (raqnbelly) | 13 comments I suppose it depends on which of my loved ones it is. Sad huh?

message 12: by Derek (new)

Derek Thomas | 3 comments That's a tough one. I think I could. I always yell at the people in the movies to kill them and just get it over with, but when they were actually my loved ones...kids....wow. I don't know if I could do it.

Netanella | 3 comments If you say yes to killing a family member, would you be able to do it before they turn?

message 14: by hIpnoticraQs (new)

hIpnoticraQs (raqnbelly) | 13 comments before they turn ? No, there's always the immune person in every book.

☆Joycedale☆ | 6 comments I would like to say yes but honestly I think one of my kids will probably be the death of me.

message 16: by Beau (new)

Beau Johnston (beau_johnston) Unless someone is unbalanced or in a psychotic rage, I don't think the average person knows if they could kill until they had to shove a knife into their target (or club them in the head, or pull the trigger), until they had to actually do it.

I've known some blowhards that were all bravado; and I know a quiet, unassuming lady who would scare the pants off of you.

Dave Farmer | 1 comments It's easy to say yes now, sat at home, in the warm, with food in the cupboard and no sign of terror or threat, but in such a tense and stressful situation I don't know if I could. I like to think I would do it, but something at the back of my mind says that that person is still them, they're still the loved one I remember, even if they're trying to eat me. Not until placed in that situation would I, or maybe anyone, can really know for sure.

message 18: by R.S. (new)

R.S. Merritt | 21 comments Better to find them dead than to have to kill them. But, if you have to put them down you have to. Couldn't live with just locking them in the basement and letting them rot away. Never knowing what is going through there heads. A lot like pulling someone off a ventilator I'd assume.

R.S. Merritt | 21 comments Most people have an issue even punching another person in the face... Jamming a screwdriver in to your daughters head probably isn't something your average person would ever be able to do. I think it's easier for someone to do in an impersonal way like with a gun from a distance. A baseball bat in the hands of most people would just equal another Zombie.... Whether or not it was a loved one but especially if it was a loved one...
