Faith | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm Faith and I'm new to this group. I only started reading books by Nora Roberts two weeks ago and was instantly hooked. I went on Goodreads to find out more about her and this is where I discovered J.D. Robb so I began reading the In Death series. I'm on the fourth book already.

I love love love Eve and Roarke's relationship! So many female characters in romance novels are strong and sassy up until they meet their male counterpart. Then all of a sudden they become spineless and get reduced to begging for love. Not Eve. And then there's Roarke who loves her for who she is and thinks she's beautiful and sexy even though she cuts her own hair! It doesn't hurt that he's tall with the "face of a devil and the body of a god." I'm so glad that there are many more books in the series because I truly enjoy reading about Eve and Roarke.

You are so welcome, Cindy...I'm so glad to have you here (& in some other groups!). This is just such a fan oriented group. Enjoy.

message 563: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (quiltsrme) | 63 comments I'm Stephanie and I read the series through books 8 or 9 some years ago ( in other words, I was current and then didn't keep up). This time, I am listening rather than reading. This actually tales longer than reading on my Nook or Kindle, but its just easier for me. I can work on other stuff while listening since the plots aren't that complicated.

Welcome to the group, Faith! We're really happy you not only discovered the series but also this group. Glad to have you.

You've also nailed one of the distinctions of this series...Eve Dallas is always true to her character despite being in a relationship. It's one of the elements that keeps most of us hooked.

Welcome, Stephanie! I'm glad listening to the series after having first begun it by reading works for you. We had a discussion about this recently and some of us can't make this kind of transition. Those that do listen to the series love it so enjoy.

message 568: by Lynnette (new)

Lynnette Hartwig (69mustanglady) | 40 comments Hi Everyone,
My name is Lynnette. I began reading the In Death novels back when the first came out (I was reading a lot in those days) there was only 3 books out then. However I bought an e-reader a couple of years ago and I was able to borrow books from my library. Since then I have caught up on all the books. I absolutely love them so I decided to join this group.

Welcome, Lynette! That was some gap between books but eReaders make it SO easy to keep up. Thanks for joining and we look forward to hearing from you.

message 572: by Lesley (new)

Lesley (whimsey2) | 113 comments Hello
My introduction to the in death series was portrait in death. My aunt gave me the book and it sat on my shelf for maybe 2 years. I had decided that it wasn't a book I would enjoy. One day after being laid up with the flu and feeling irritable wanting to read something but none of my large unread pile interested me. I picked up portrait in death and have been hooked ever since. It took me a while to track down the first few books especially glory in death but I eventually found them. So I could reread everything in order. I now buy the new ones as soon as they hit the bookshelves although now I read ebooks as I ran out of space and had to rationalize.

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments Welcome Lesley! Portrait is one of my favorites in the series!

Hi Lesley! Welcome to the group. Your intro to the series sounds like several others...given one of the books and set it aside waiting a long time to pick it back up and then..Bam! You're hooked! lol We've all been there & are definitely hooked on this series! Enjoy the group! Join in our buddy reads..we're rereading the series and having a great time discussing the books. Just finishing up with Glory In Death and will move on to Immortal in a few days.

Welcome to the group, Lesley! Funny how I had the same problem tracking down Glory in Death. It wasn't in the Sony Reader Store and I had to find it elsewhere. Glad you found us!

message 576: by Diana (new)

Diana Dunn (dianaxdunn) | 13 comments Hi everyone. I'm glad to be here. I feel like I've been reading the "in death" series forever. Not sure when the first one came out, but I remember finding several of them in my local library (when I lived in DC) and trying to work my way through them all. (would have been in the 1990s when they were first coming out) I followed the series while living in England, then Pennsylvania and now Buffalo and still enjoy every new release when it comes out. I'm fairly new to GoodReads and just starting to try out groups, but I'm happy to be here!

message 583: by Diana (new)

Diana Dunn (dianaxdunn) | 13 comments Thank you for the invitation...I only own a handful of her books (I had more but I think they must have gotten lost in a move, or else they are in a box at my mom's...)...but I will try to join in when you do one that I've actually got. And I intend to hit the library soon to see what I can grab there, would love to chat about them as I read them...I don't know any other fans in the real world (although I know there are tons because there is always a waiting list at our library for the new ones!)

Hi Everyone!!! :)
My name is Malissa. I am 20 years old and live in Oklahoma. I am currently a sophomore in college. However, I am not currently enrolled in college at this time. I recently moved back to the United States from living in Japan so I had to put my college studies on hold while I get settled. Once I get more settled, I'm hoping to attend the University of West Florida as an English or Library Sciences major. Even though I miss being in school full time, I love having the extra time to read the books that I want to read :)

I am excited about this new group and am looking forward to participating in discussions with y'all! :)

Hi, Readuser! Welcome to our group of JD Robb fans! I read Nora Roberts first also...then found she also writes this awesome series!

message 600: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm a JD Robb transfer. Started out with an In Death book somewhere in the middle and realized I was in the middle and started over at the start. Didn't realize it was Nora Roberts till the Hot Rocks cross over.
