Have been a Nora Roberts fan from the first book I read of hers Enchanted (Sillouhette/ Mills & Boon book). I read most of her books from that era and followed her to her mainstream general fiction writing. Until I gave away my book collection I had every one of her general/Romance fiction books. I gradually built up my ebook collection for her but was still reluctant to follow her JD Robb series as I have never liked many authors in the murder/thriller genre.
My husband, of course, loved this genre and so I had been getting ebook for him to read and had suggested he read JD as one he may like. Well- he fell in love with the series and requested some Audiobooks so he could listen to the series when he was driving.
The Upshot to all this is that finally he convinced me to try the series and, although the writing style is different, I have fallen in love with the series as well.
I would love to have the fluidity of imagination and the ability to put into words what builds out of that imagination. Nora has an absolute gift of making her characters believable in their frailties and strengths like no other I know. Love her work in both spheres of her writing.

Personally, I don't care for NR books that much, but absolutely love the In Death books and have since the lady at our local used bookstore insisted I try one. The audiobooks are incredible and make the stories even better!

Welcome to the group, Ashlea! You’ll find many of us here have re-read the series multiple times so we understand your urge to do so. Good luck with your schoolwork.
Hi Ashlea! Welcome to our group. The In Death series is one that I never tire of rereading. Feel free to join our group discussions any time. We'd love to have you join us. :)

My name is Faz. I've been a huge fan of the In Death series for years now. I remember walking into my library one summer looking for something to read. I came out with about 6 books and Naked in Death happened to be one of them. Before I knew it I had finished the book in a matter of hours and was desperate to read the next book. Imagine my surprise when I found out that she had written 30+ books already I was soo happy and excited. I tried pacing myself but before I knew it I had already finished the entire series and was obsessed with Eve, Roarke and the rest of the characters. It was a crazy feeling knowing how much power these books had over me. I found this group a while ago and I can't wait to discover more amazing books, hopefully with amazing character and world building such as the one created by J.D. Robb/ Nora Roberts :)
Nice to meet you all!!!
Welcome, Faz! I so enjoyed reading your story of how you discovered this series. It sounds so much like those of many of the members here.
Glad to have you here.
Glad to have you here.
Hi Faz! So many of us experienced the same time thing you did in discovering the In Death series. So happy to have you join us!

I'm a huge Nora Roberts fan and aim to read everything written by her. My neighbourhood library and second hand bookstores are assisting me on this quest.
I picked up the first three books in the series with some birthday vouchers....now I'm addicted.
After a sleepless weekend, I was delighted to learn that there are more than 40 books in the series.
Looking forward to chatting with other fans of Roarke and Eve 🙂
Welcome, Lakshmi! Glad you discovered this series through Nora’s books. Completely understand your addiction:)
Enjoy the group.

Hi Lakshmi! I also read Nora's books prior to discovering the In Death series. And I love them all! Welcome to our group. :)

Did anyone get a chance to read Dark in Death? How is it?
I was curious about another thing, does Eve have any exes?
Roarke has a museum of exes and I'm yet to read about any other romantic partners that Eve has had.

Dark in Death is really good.
We won’t spoil the series for you:) And, it’s very important to read in order. I had all the same questions you have but my friends wouldn’t tell me and later I was so glad they didn’t.
Enjoy the journey!

Omg!!! Are you psychic?
I have been reading the series out of order. My first purchase included Naked in Death, Immortal, Fantasy, Strangers and Imitation.
Spoilers are everywhere.
Plus I read Echoes, Secret and haunted recently.
I blame the blurbs, they lure me in!!!
But I am trying to be good this year 😮😇
How do you keep reading in order? What about new releases? Aren't you tempted?

The character relationship growth is so important and huge in this series and it occurs book by book. You'll ( & everyone else) greatly benefit by reading them in order.

Lakshmi, ditto what Sandra said. The biggest payoff in this series is experiencing the characters evolve, book by book.
I’m caught up now but when I first started, I binge read the series over three months so I was never tempted by new books. If you read the first 10 books in a row, you will be much less tempted to read out of order.

That's true, Sandra. You can see Roarke and Eve grow emotionally. With every case there is a new personal challenge too.

I find it difficult to read these together in a row. I'll read a book or two then look for something silly or historical or some new Urban Fantasy series.
I'll be distracted till I see another review mentioning Eve and Roarke - all my good intentions vanish at this point.

Love your story, Ladyhawke! Welcome and you’re going to love all the discussions about this series. Just jump right in.

I discovered J.D Robb by accident. I was browsing through a bookstore in an airport in Sydney and was so attracted by the cover, I had to see what Rapture in Death was. I opened a random page, that infamous scene when Roarke distracts Eve on their return to earth and was utterly hooked. Finding more was a problem though! No bookstore back home stocked them, so thank you Internet!
It is the best crime series I have ever read., but the surprising thing is that, most crime-readers have never heard of Eve Dallas, so I was thrilled to find this amazing group!
My top favourites are Portrait, Innocent, Immortal, Rapture and Concealed.
Anyone else want an Auto-Chef?
Big welcome, Amaia! Two of your five are my favorites also (Portrait, Innocent).
And I would pay serious money for an auto-chef😉

A friend gave me the 3rd in the j.d. robb In Death Series many years ago. I was so intrigued with Eve and Roarke that I had to find out how they started. I hit the used book store to find the first 2 and left with those 2 as well as several others that had been published after. I've been hooked ever since. Have all the books, some in paperback (early ones), hardcover and more recent ones are e-books.
My first re-read (1st to latest book at that time) occurred when I discovered I was missing #'s 10, 15, & 20 as well as a couple of Novelas in Anthologies. I ordered the missing books and started the re-read while I was waiting for delIvery so I ciuld read them in order. (This was pre-kindle. I love to hold a book in my hand so I was a longtime holdout before finally going to e-books (ran out of bookshelves).
