Now as one of the few males that follow this series, you might wonder why I'm reading this series, and my answers are I've always had an affinity for female protagonists. I'm also an anime fan and if there's one Anime franchise I find very similar to the In Death series, it'd Masumune Shirow's Ghost in the Shell.
Hopefully I can interact with you all in the near future as Connections in Death comes out next week.
Welcome to the group, Seth! I haven’t seen a reference to the Blue Lady covers in quite some time. Your Mom should hold on to them as long as she can.
Looking forward to your participation in the discussions.

Welcome to the group, Seth! Happy to have your take on these & other books. I have 2 of the Blue Lady covers & would buy the others to keep if I could find them. Your mother should definitely hold on to those.

I'm a big fantasy reader and have gotten into romance over the last couple years. I wish I had started sooner - so many great books!

Welcome Alicat. There is a lot of good relationship building in those first 5. It will be nice to hear your comments as you read.
Welcome Alicat! The audiobooks of this series are excellent! I look forward to hearing your thoughts as you work your way through the series.

I got into J.D. Robb's In Death series around 2010 I think it was. I actually read the fourth book first, and noticed that it referenced a couple of things that confused me. Then I realized it was part of a series! So, I went online, printed out the books' reading order, and started over again with book one. :).... And her series has occupied a place of honor on my bookshelf ever since. I own up through Dark In Death, but have only read through Indulgence In Death - so far, that is. As soon as I get my third book done and published I fully intend to take a break from writing and tend to my addiction to Eve Dallas and crew!
Anyway, great to meet you guys and I look forward to interacting more!
Hi D.F.! Welcome to our group! In Death is definitely a series to be read in order for the character development. Happy you decided to join us.

me too! I love that there's a place where I can get all goofy about my favorite series and people won't judge :)

Good morning and thanks! Looking forward to talking with everyone more!

Anyways, does anyone remember the book where Eve makes a reservation to eat with Roarke and she tells him that "Roarke clears a table faster than Dallas?" I think one of her suspects had eaten there, and she was looking to the waitstaff to see if anyone had remembered him/her. If any of you remember, please let me know! I've been racking my brains for the past month and reread the whole series, but I can't find it. Thanks!!
Welcome to the group, Katherine!

Welcome Katherine!
I remember similar situations but not this one exactly. I think you have a couple stories combined. Anyway, I'll search my notes to see and respond on the page Jonetta mentioned.

I just finished Witness In Death (#11) and just started on Judgement In Death (#12), so the Peabody & McNab romance just started heating up a few books ago - although I kinda saw it coming after seeing them argue and get annoyed by each other as co-workers.
I'm amazed how much Robb/Roberts got right about the future, since we're not so far from 2058 right now, considering these were started in 1995 or so. I love the auto-chef. I love the showers and the "drying tube" - I so need one! I feel like once the first 4-5 books were written, she (author) really started having fun with her characters - so many funny moments, but only funny when you get to know these characters, and it's so much fun to watch Eve get annoyed at the mere mention of Trina's services, or when Peabody tries to talk about her sexual life with McNab to Eve, or her little game with Somerset where they totally try to annoy each other.
I relate a lot to Eve (I'm often misunderstood) because she has no patience and just wants to get things done, is often annoyed when Rourke interferes (I would be too, but he's so sweet about it). Rourke reminds me a little of my own husband (not in the millionaire way, but in the 'taking care of Eve' way). My absolute favorites so far are Mavis (I love her contrast to Eve) and Peabody and McNab. I just adore the two of them together! I especially love how it irritates Eve. I don't like cats, but I like Galahad.
I've read about how Robb/Roberts absolutely does NOT want Rourke & Eve to have children - and I totally agree! Eve is not a stay-at-home mom - that's not who she is, not to mention, with the tragic childhood she & Rourke have had, I think it's a gift for them to be together, help each other through the pain they've had in life, I can't see either one of them having the desire to be a parent. I'm happy to be here and looking forward to discussing the many books I haven't read yet!
Welcome to the group, Lanie! It’s clear you’re already a big fan and so early in the series.
Enjoy and we look forward to your participation in the discussions!!

Hi Angela! Welcome to the group! I agree that Ericksen is awesome, bringing these characters and story to life in a big way.
Welcome, Angela! You’re among so many fans of the audiobook format of this series. I’m also impressed at how far along you are to have just started in April...well, I devoured them the same way when I discovered the series😏
Hope you have a great time here!
