Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3059 comments Welcome Angela, I devoured the audio books when I found them too. Back in the day, it was cheaper to buy the e-version and the audio book together, which I did even though I had many of the paperbacks.

Keri | 8 comments Hello everyone. I'm new to this group. I started reading the In Death series a few months ago. I just finished "Creation in Death". I've seen this series popping up during my searches for Romantic Suspense books and initially the futuristic tilt turned me off. But it was my mistake. I was thinking more sci-fi than future lol. I was in a reading slump and figured since I love Nora Roberts I owed it to her to at least try book 1. I LOVED IT. My favorite character is by far Eve. She's so complex and prickly but her heart is so big. Not to mention she's hilarious! I love Roarke as well, not as much as Eve, but close. I love how much he loves her but never loses his edge and knocks her back when she needs it. The entire cast is so diverse and all contribute so much to the stories it's hard to not like any of them. I'll admit Summerset might be my least favorite because from the beginning he's treated Eve like an outsider, a mongrel among pedigrees, so that annoys me a bit. He's mellowed out a bit as the books go on but I still can't warm up to him completely. Especially since he can so easily twist anything Eve does into something wrong, like when he calls her cold or thinks she's taking Roarke away from his work to focus on hers. Sometimes I wish Roarke could walk in on one of his harsh moments because Eve would never tattle and I want Summerset taken down a peg. Hoping they have a big moment or something that makes me relax a little about him lol. But yes i'm about to start "Eternity in Death". Can't put these books down! Looking forward to interacting with you all :D

Hi Keri! Welcome to the group! It's always so awesome to interact with new fans of the series, as well as old. I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts and seeing if or how they change as you progress. :)

bowlwoman | 6 comments Hi everyone! I’m new to this group, but not JD Robb books. I started reading them in 1997, on the recommendation of my college roommate. I currently use several phrases from the book in everyday life (the most frequent being “Hear me loudly not disagreeing.” from Visions.

Imitation was my favorite book for a long time, but currently Treachery and Brotherhood are vying for top spot.

I also enjoy reading Seanan McGuire’s Toby Daye series, and the fact that both authors release a book the day after Labor Day means I have to wait for Toby because I gotta scratch my Eve itch first. 😜

Glad to find this group and happy reading!

Thing is, on an old In Death fansite I used to go to, some of the members on that site gave Brotherhood some unfair criticism and therefore making it one of the most controversial books in the series, in my opinion.

Hi bowlwoman,

Welcome to our group. I love reading with this group. They give me insight and/or something to think about all the time. The books you mentioned are some of my favorites too. I love listening to the audiobooks.

Moondance (moondance120) | 30 comments Hi, I’m Cheryl. I resisted staring the In Death series for years because of the number of books. I read Naked in Death and was hooked. I get laughed at for trying to make an In Death book work for every challenge imaginable. I seem to devour every book then I go back and read it slower. I own most of the books and I’m trying to find the ones I don’t have. I just finished Innocent in Death. Wow!! Just wow! Roarke is my favorite book boyfriend. Him with that blasted button just makes me swoon. I’m looking forward to chatting with other fans if the series.

Michelle | 4 comments Hi there everyone. I was directed this way by Karen. I had read a few of the In death series years ago. Then decided to start reading my way thru them last year. I'm working on Rapture in Death. I do love them. They are great at balancing mystery and romance. I like the slightly futuristic feel of them as well.

Joanne | 3 comments Hi Everyone. I am a newbie to Goodreads (joined in February) and this is the first group I've joined. My name is Joanne, I live in Glasgow, Scotland and I am a massive JD Robb fan. I was a little bit reluctant upon reading Naked In Death about 2 years ago due to the futuristic setting (how wrong was I???) but after devouring it I was hooked. I am a huge romantic suspense fan in general - I saw a reference on here to Karen Rose who is another favourite author of mine so I am looking forward to interacting with fellow readers who enjoy the same books.

I'm always amazed at this. People that don't want romance in their mystery, or sci-fi in their romance. LOL!! For me, it all boils down to one thing: the relationships. And I don't mean just the romantic ones. When I read a new one (or an old one for that matter), it feels like going to a family reunion or going out with old friends.

Welcome, Joanne! I had the same reaction when I started Naked in Death and saw it was the year 2058. But, I trusted the friends who’d recommended it and next I looked up I had finished the series😏

We’re reading the Karen Rose series as a group and are currently at book #15. If you’re at that point or beyond, feel free to join the discussion.

Thank you for the kind welcome Sandra. I hardly notice it now either, when I do it's because I get jealous - why can't I have my own Auto Chef or switch to air mode when I'm stuck in traffic??? :)

Meg (makeli2) | 347 comments Hi all! This group is perfect for an 'In Death FAN-atic'! I heard about the series from my very first online group at the end of the 90's, and decided, with some trepidation, that probably I could deal with a little blood (lol on 'a little'). Eve and Roarke (!) were being so avidly talked about and drooled over that I just had to jump in. I haven't stopped looking back since.

I started out with the paperbacks, then hardcovers when those started coming out, then CDs when I discovered them. (I'm with the rest of you, Susan Ericksen has got it down!) Not too long ago I graduated to audible audiobooks.

Love the stars and costars of the stories. Peabody cracks me up; she's just awesome. And Roarke...what can I say about that one that would do him justice? Eve rocks, and I celebrate her for her strength and heart and her dry humor. I've missed seeing more of Mavis in the last few I read; I hope she pops up again soon for a longer role...such a darling and a livewire!

I've purposely stretched out reading the books/audio books so I wouldn't run out too quickly. (I'm never out of a TBR mountain so the Robb books always have some great company.) My next one will be #43, Apprentice in Death.

Happy to find this group!

message 2050: by Kim (new)

Kim | 5 comments Hi all! I'm new here but I've been reading the series for the last 2 years (close to 3yrs next month).

When I discovered Naked in Death, I was a bit skeptical at first, I'm not into some futuristic stuff even though it's a Romantic Suspense book. But since there's a lot of good reviews, went ahead with it (brought the book with me on a short work trip). I started reading it at the airport and I couldn't put it down! I read it overnight.

Boy was I glad I started the series, after the first book, I grabbed all the rest I could get lol!

I devoured it at first but as I was halfway thru the series, I didn't want to finish the entire thing while waiting for a new one so I started pacing it - reading only 1 book a month. Haven't read Vendetta in Death yet (I stopped reading new ones for a few months until new books are up haha!).

When I'm missing Roarke, I reread them any book or just go back to Naked in Death.

Glad I found this group! :)
