I understand completely. When I discovered the series I wasn't reading anything else (that was three years ago). Now, it would be tough but you're going to get to a point where you just have to read book after book!

Enjoy!

I read Innocent once, went through the series and it did read different the second time around, I was more invested in the characters and lots of things made more sense. I flew through them and I'm all caught up.

Cheryl (Collier) (cheryllynn12) Hi, I'm Cheryl and I was invited to join the group by my friend Julia2848. A friend here loaned me one of the In Death books several years ago. Of course, I was hooked after the first one and went back to the beginning of the series. However, life and book club challenges plus numerous gifts of books have sidetracked me from the series. The same friend recently loaned me New York to Dallas and now I'm back in the lives of Eve and Roark.

Welcome, Iszy! I can understand how Seduction drew you into the series. Have fun!

Welcome, Cheryl (and thank you, Julia, for inviting friends)! I understand getting sidetracked but after a couple of weeks, I cave and get back on track:). Glad you're back to the series.

message 318: by Mosope (new)

Mosope Soda-oluwapelumi | 1 comments Hi, I m Mosope, I started my 'in death' series journey when i got both Naked and Glory in death paperback as xmas gift from my little cousins. What i love the most about the books are the relationships Roarke-Eve, Roarke-Eve-Summerset, Eve-Peabody and others. I def wont mind an auto-chef and Eve's closet.... :)

message 319: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
Welcome, Mosope! Hey, who wouldn't want a closet hand picked by Roarke!

message 320: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments But then again, we go back to needing to have a Roarke around to keep it stocked lol

message 324: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Evans (pvevans) | 47 comments Hello,

My name is Tricia. I honestly can’t remember how I got into reading the In Death series. It’s been so long. But it’s safe to say I’m addicted to them now. It’s hard to say what I love most about them, other then following the friendships of all the characters throughout the books. While I like the “love” relationships (Eve and Roarke, Peabody and McNab….etc.) but I am more interested in the “friendship” relationships and how they develop. I love reading about Eve and Peabody’s interactions. Roarke and Summerset. I like reading about their history and seeing how they developed those relationships. I look forward to reading MANY (hopefully many) more books in this series.

message 325: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
Welcome, Tricia! I think we sometimes take those friendships angles for granted. I love the interplay between Eve and Peabody, one of the highlights of the series that I didn't value as much until it was backburnered in a few books.

I hope you enjoy the group!

message 326: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenny-g) Hi all! My name is Jennifer and I'm new to in death series. Years ago I checked naked out of the library, read the first chapter and returned it, not interested. But now I drive an hour to and from work everyday, so I started getting audio books to listen to on the long daily drive. Two weeks ago I checked out vengence and was hooked! I've gone in death crazy! I went back to naked and have listened to about 4 books now, I'm hooked! Love eve and roarke!

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
Welcome, Jennifer! Everyone else will ask you this question so I'll pose it first...are you reading the series in order?

message 328: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliace) Hi Jennifer, Mosope and Tricia!

message 329: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Hi Jennifer. I fell in love with this series after reading one book in the middle and went back and started reading them in order...but my insanity happened when I started listening to them on audio. I completely understand your disease. Welcome.

message 330: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Evans (pvevans) | 47 comments Hmmmm. So many people have said they loved listening to them. I think I may have to go back and get them on audio.

message 331: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
The narrator for the series, Susan Erickson (sp.), is highly regarded, primarily for this series. I've never listened to them because I can't have the voices I've created be replaced at this point:)

message 332: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Evans (pvevans) | 47 comments LOL. I felt the same way with the Harry Potter series. But I went ahead and listend to them with my son after we read the books and I LOVED them! The guy who did the voices did them SO well.

message 333: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Susan does a very good job, for the most part. There are some voices I don't care for (Peabody) and a few books in the middle of the series seem like she lost her way, but I am certain that if she stopped reading them, I wouldn't be able to listen to someone else doing them. Audible.com sometimes has a sale on the books. It is a good way to see if you like it.

message 334: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
Dawn, I think Susan started recording the series in the middle, which is why they sound different. I believe the first book was Seduction in Death.

message 335: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Evans (pvevans) | 47 comments I just reserved Naked at my library. I’m gonna head out on my lunch to pick it up. =)

message 336: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments All of mine are Brilliance Audio and she is the narrator. But, this could explain why I think she did the earlier books better than the middle ones...maybe they went back and finished the series?

message 337: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
She started with that book and did one other before going back to the beginning. I'm sure it coincided with when they first began recording the audiobooks and the current release at that time.

message 338: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments That makes a lot of sense, since there are two or three that I really don't like as much. I could never figure out why she did Naked so much better lol.

message 339: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Evans (pvevans) | 47 comments Well I just picked up Naked in Death on CD. And I spent my whole lunch hour listening to it. I LOVE it. I wonder why I never did this before??? I use to work at a library, I KNEW that they had them on CD. It just never occurred to me to listen to them since I had already read them….. Now I get to go through the whole series again! I’m excited.

Most of the libraries have them available for download to your computer for transfer to your iPod, MP3 device or iPad, too.

message 341: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Evans (pvevans) | 47 comments I looked and they didn’t have any of the JD Robb audio books available for download. That’s how I usually get my books. I LOVE my libraries digital library. It’s so convenient. But I don’t mind driving to the library to get a book (or an audio book) if the digital library doesn’t have it. As luck would have it I JUST bought a new car that has a CD player in it. LOL.

First, Hello Maggie, Iszy, Cheryl, Jennifer, Mosope, and Tricia. Hope I included everyone. Now, I would like to respond to Tricia... That's what so fun about reading and rereading this series, all the different ways you can view the stories. The plots and sub-plots, I love them!

Hi, my name is Sandra - *Starshine*. Thanks for making me aware of this group & inviting me to join, Jonetta. Love this series. I read the first book after reading everything else by Nora Roberts and thinking...Now, what do I read?? Somewhere along the way, I discovered that Nora Roberts was J D Robb and voila - A lot of new books to read! I'm a fan!

Thanks, Jonetta, So you read the In Death series first...Well, the good news is there are, I believe, over 200 books by Nora Roberts to read and all of them are good. I can't find any that I haven't read...I've checked her book lists on her site & checked all of them off and I read every new one that comes out as soon as they are out. Latest was Whiskey Beach, of course. She has some good trilogies.
So happy to be here!

I find I'm drawn more to her trilogies, too. Haven't read Whiskey Beach yet but I'm making my way there:)
