Welcome to the group, Vanessa. Happy to have you here. I was the same way about this series...just wasn't sure about the futuristic thing. Of course, I was hooked with the first one!

message 402: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliace) Hi Vanessa. I felt the same way about this series. That was the only thing that put me off when people started recommending. But I'm so glad I did! Hope you enjoy the group.

Carly (carmeer) | 6 comments I love the in Death Series. I discovered this series when I saw Strangers in Death and Origin in death at the Friends of the Library sale. I saw that they were written by Nora Roberts under the name J.D Robb so I had to buy them. I became hooked after reading these two and starting reading them in order. It is my favorite series. I want my own Irish Billionaire, Auto-chef, and off planet resorts.

LeiCa | 761 comments when you find him, Carly, ask him if he has a brother!

message 405: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2653 comments And cousins !!!!

It just amazes me that most of us started reading this series way out of kilter. If you are anything like me the long trek to start reading them in order was worth it. I now own a almost full set of paperbacks but the full set in e- format.

message 406: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments And with his large extended family in Ireland...there are a lot of cousins!

message 407: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2653 comments Lol
No Dawn that was referring to Carly wanting a real Rourke and LeiCa wanting brothers. I'll settle for. Cousin if it meant I'd sometimes get to spend time with any of these dream boats. Too many would want Rourke and brothers;-)

Welcome to the group, Helen! You're at a perfect place in the series. You've got some really good ones ahead of you.

Dawn | 3250 comments I knew what you meant Michelle, but there are many of us...so cousins are our best bet! Lol

Welcome, Vanessa! I, too, thought the futuristic element would turn me off and was surprised it didn't.

Enjoy the group!

Welcome, Carly! I'm so impressed by you and others here that had the smarts to start the series in order after having read one or two out of order.

Enjoy catching up!

I discovered eve & roarke in the anthology that has an anita blake story then went back and started from the beginning and can say that not only do I read them but my mom and dad do too which means of course that I buy the hardcover on day of release then next day mail to my parents.

Ladyacct, we've been enjoying your posts so thanks for introducing yourself. Welcome and thanks for your contribution already!

Of course, I had to figure out where you started. The anthology was Out of this World and the book was Interlude in Death.

Hi Ladyacct...Welcome to the group! Glad you stopped by and introduced yourself. Enjoy the discussions!

I've been a member of the group for a while, but only just really started reading the forums (and will likely end up dropping in here and there as time permits) but figured I would introduce myself. I'm Beth and I'm a J.D. Robb Addict :) I think I'm on my 5th re-read of the entire series, and there are a few that I have read all or parts of more than that. I got hooked with the audio books, then had to get myself a complete set of the ebooks for easy searching. They are one of the few groups of books that have a home on my Kindle, so if I need a quick fix I always have them :)

Yay! Thanks for introducing yourself, Beth, even though we've been chatting with you. I love having the eBooks for quick references and fixes, too.

Have you been playing the games here with our resident series experts?

message 418: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments Hi beth...I am right there with you. I am a complete J.D Robb addict and can just reread the series over and over again..

message 419: by [deleted user] (new)

Jonetta, the games are my next stop after I finish glancing through the actual book threads :)

message 420: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (samswindle) | 23 comments Hi all!! While I'm new to this discussion, I'm new to Goodreads and have been lurking aroun here for a while.I comment mostly on the Nora Roberts board but have joined a few conversations on the JDR boards and a few other authors.
So I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm an avid reader who manages to read several several novels a week. I don't always post my books read on here becuase i forget!!
I have read several of JDR's In death series, but am currently going back and reading the in order. I'm starting "witness in Death tomorrow. I've read it before, but reading the books in order sure helps me to enjoy the evolutiona of Roarke and Eve's relationahips and the secondary relationships are great too!!!

I'm really glad you introduced yourself, Samantha, and decided to join some of the discussions. Thanks, too, for your testimonial about reading the books in order. That question comes up often and though I'm a big advocate of that position, it's nice for others to weigh in on the issue.

Welcome!

Hi Beth & Samantha..So happy to get to know fellow J D Robb addicts! I'm definitely a fan of reading a series in order too. That's the only way to see and understand the evolution of the characters & relationships in any series. Welcome to the group!

message 423: by Susan (new)

Susan Hey there, I am Susan and I am definitely a Rourke fangirl. This series is just so brilliant, I don't know why everyone is not hooked. OK, there are not too many of Nora's books that are not brilliant, in my opinion. I am a big lover of all different genres of romance as well.

Welcome, Susan! I like your term "fangirl" and plan to use it!

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 2165 comments Welcome Susan to the group...i to don't understand how everyone is just not hooked on this series. I was hooked on page 1 of naked in death. I have never read any book or series that i could get hooked on like i have with the in death series.

Hey Susan, I see you made it over! Welcome. I already know you're a fan and you'll get your "fix" here...some great discussions on these addictive books!

message 430: by [deleted user] (new)

a hearty hi to all. I am an avid re-reader; am most like Peabody in manner and appearance but worship the goddess herself, Eve. Began reading the series a few years ago with Glory in Death. loved it and was advised by a sage friend to read them in order. funny thing, didn't know Roberts and Robb were same author. I remember looking at Robb's pic and thinking "huh, she looks like Pat Benatar." Anyway, happy to be here amongst other fans (and Galahad lovers).

Welcome, Peabody..uh, Chef! Great to have you here:)

message 432: by Dana (new)

Dana (danabritt) Ah, I found folks who love these books/characters as much as I do! So thrilled!!
I started reading the In Death books over 15 years ago...my mother was reading them and passed them along to me. I was hooked and kept reading even after we lost my mom in 1999--I just had to get the books on my own after that! I'm awaiting the next book...considering a re-read, as it's been awhile and I tend to breeze through the books. Again, so glad to be here!! :)

message 433: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Welcome Dana! I felt exactly the same way when I found this group, after I went through a frenzied 6 months reading the entire series and had months to wait for the next book. You are among friends here, as we all tend to breeze through these books...over, and over and over again. Once you are caught up, come check out our games...we have some great fun trying to stump one another.

Cate (catemb) | 76 comments Hi! My name is Catherine (Kate), a Canadian currently living in the UK, who only just discovered this series 2 weeks ago (Naked in Death was a kindle daily deal). I am now already on book #5. Completely addictive... I don't do much else anymore and I might go bankrupt soon if I keep buying the kindle books (almost £6 each) so frequently!
