Thanks everyone for the congrats! I am pretty excited and it is my first one, plus it is a good reason to throw away things I don't want to see in my new house.

[NOTE: This is NOT a personal shelf, please use the shelf link to choose your book]
Meghan, that's one of the bennys when DH and I move so often - we're able to go thru everything and purge before our next place. Good luck! Enjoy your new home!
Have fun, Sara! :)
Another star to cut/paste, if you want: ☆
I'm excited that the next book I'd wanted to read is on this shelf. I'll be reading

Happy Reading, Ladies! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Just a question...If I had wanted too, would reading

Thanks for the rec. I haven't read that book. I will be adding it to my tbr shelf :)

Either way, hope you enjoy whichever you decide(d) to start. :D
I finished

Finished

Book Completed: 6/25/2012
Book Rating: ★★★★
Continue Series? Yes
This is barely-making-it 4 star read. This book kept me fairly interested throughout the entire book. I just wasn't sure how I felt about some of the things going on in it.
I loved Rose as a person, however she was also extremely shallow and conniving all at the same time. I think there was too much of the high shool teen drama going on in the book for it to really feel like something that could have been great.
A vast majority of this book was based on world building though. There was a little bit of intrigue as to what would happen next, but at least 3/4 of the book was just world building.
I think the reason that I gave this book a barely squeaking 4 star was because I read through it and wanted to know what was going to happen. Then before I knew it the book was over and I wanted more. I guess I will have to read the next books in the series in order to get my fill of that "more" urge within me :)

Hope everyone's had a great week! Sorry I've been a bit scarce. I will post my reviews for both my 'favorite-series' book and my 'free space' book very soon, promise!

Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs
Shelf: 'favorite-series'
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
First Read: 14 Jul 2008
Re-Read: 26 June 2012
Cry Wolf is the first full-length novel in Briggs' Alpha & Omega series. In order to get the full back story, I recommend starting with the prequel, Alpha & Omega: A Companion Novella to Cry Wolf, which was originally published in the anthology On the Prowl. CRY WOLF picks up where ALPHA & OMEGA left off with Anna leaving Chicago and heading to Montana with Charles. While there, Bran has Charles and Anna investigate a murder. During that time, these two begin to build a relationship (view spoiler)
The best part of this series, for me, is the character building. Briggs' does a great job with showing readers not only the human side of her characters, but their shifter side as well. Similarly, how those two sides create a balance within each character then meld so nicely with their mates.
Fans of Briggs' Mercy Thompson series will enjoy this series as it takes place in the same world and has some small overlap of characters. It is not necessary, however, that fans read one series before starting the other.
Series Reading Order:

Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer
Shelf: 'Free Space' (found on SOS Bookshelf)
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Read: 24 Jun 2012
Bloodrose , the final installment in Cremer's Nightshade trilogy, appears to have been either a major hit or depressing disaster for fans of the first two installments. For me, it was a good read. I didn't loooove it, but I didn't hate it either. As I've said in the past, I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like to write ONE book, much less a series that fans grow to love/hate and follow with bated breath. So, I try to keep that in mind when sharing my thoughts and rating a series read. This book is no different.
In the first two books, we learned about Guardians, Keepers and Searchers. By the third and final book, everything we've learned about these three groups has been turned upside down, shaken and stirred. (view spoiler) It's time for the final showdown and the heat is on.
Calla, as with most YA para-heroines these days, is not only battling against evil, but also struggling with a doozy of a love triangle. She's been promised to Ren, Banes' Alpha, but after her encounter with Shay she's beginning to question herself and her feelings for both.
From the beginning, I fell for all of the men in Cremer's Nightshade. I love Mason's witty humor, Shay's adventurous spirit, Connor's big heart, Ansel's inner strength, and Ren as a misunderstood bad boy. For the characters and the addition of some fun shifters in this installment, I gave this book 3.5★.
I am interested in checking out the Nightshade Prequel,

ROFL! I felt like I had toilet paper stuck to my butt or somethin'. :D All tidied up. Thanks!

Thanks, Sara! WOOHOO! Go, Slayers, Go! Slay those books! ;D

Our next shelf announcement is up ~ 'New2You: Series'
This is a personal shelf, not a GoodReads' Shelf. This shelf allows members to choose the first in any series - no genre or character-type restrictions. As long as the book is in a series that is new2you it's allowed. (Remember: book choice must be 200+ pgs)
I'm going to be reading

Happy Reading, Slayers!

Now it is time for a shower and much needed sleep. I have been awake for 28 hours after only sleeping 2 hours yesterday.

Hope you enjoy it! I really did! Here's my review.
Hope everyone had a great holiday week/end! Shelf announcement soon. How's everyone's reads coming along?

Wicked Nights by Gena Showalter
Shelf: 'New2You: Series'
Read: 3 July 2012
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Review:
Wicked Nights is the first book in Gena's new Lords of the Underworld spin-off featuring the warrior angels. Although this is a spin-off of that series, those who have not read (or completed) the Lords will not be lost when reading this book. Gena's set the stage as if all who read the book are new to the world and the characters in it. So, never fear, the coast is clear!
The first time Zacharel is introduced to Lords readers in book #7, The Darkest Secret , he's intriguing enough to pique your interest. He's described as a warrior angel who has "Black hair in perfect order, emerald eyes devoid of all emotion {with} white-and-gold wings." When dealing with the Lords he's blunt, always truthful, and "emotionless".
I felt Annabelle was perfect for Zacharel. Her strong spirit and refusal to back down gave her the tools necessary to shatter Zacharel and his icy exterior.
I will definitely be continuing w/the series. [Next book: BEAUTY AWAKENED]
