Lala | 335 comments Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress, #4) by Jeaniene Frost *** 18.07

Graveyard on the cover

1. Knife page 49 - Pieces of Bones's influence were seen amidst the feminibe touches. A collection of silver knives.

2. Nudity page 119 - Gregor solid and very much not a dream, wore a triumphant smile on his face. And just like me it was the only thing he had on.

3. Holiday page 4 - "This is our vacation, Kitten."

Review: Oh my, where to start. It takes relationship problems to totally new level. Bones and Cat relationship is on a roller coaster in this book. The biggest problems they have is because of Gregor (a vampire who says his married to Cat) All story is around who's wife Cat really is.

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 1882 comments Does anyone have Laughing Corpse on kindle or pdf?
I have heard uniform about 5 times, Jean Claude sent Anita some flowers and another scene discussed funeral flowers at an animator's funeral.
Again, Anita threw up at a murder scene and had to go splash water in face.

so I am finding elements that I need, but need the quotes to post.

(p.s. thank you Kathy!!!!)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 1882 comments Book: The Laughing Corpse by Laurell K. Hamilton The Laughing Corpse (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #2) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Finished: July 18
Rating 3.5
Review: in Book 2, Anita Blake was assisting the police in an investigation of a gruesome murder. The cops are coming upon crime scenes where whole body parts are missing and so they called in their paranormal activities expert Anita. Anita was able to figure out what kind of "monster" is committing the crime.

This book was well written and interesting. I guess I was just expecting much more interaction with Jean Claude than I got. Plus, I had been waiting to see the floozy I keep hearing about, but Anita Blake didn't not come close to screwing anyone in this book. I have since learned that her ho-ish ways won't emerge until Book 6.
This book had an engaging plot, but was lacking in any kind of romance. That is what I was kind of hoping for. So that is why it gets a 3.5 instead of 4 stars.

Graveyard Pg 64: "This graveyard is full and has been for years. The last person buried here could remember the 1904 World's Fair."

OTHER ITEMS:

Uniform
Pg 14: There are always more people than you need at a murder scene, not the gawkers outside but uniforms, plainclothes, technicians, the guy with the video camera."

Hat Pg 11: "Ms. Blake, I have tried everything to hide that, that . . . mark. Hats, hairdos, simple ribbons, corsages."

Flower Pg 60: Carnations, roses, snapdragons, they all have happier lives, but mums, and glads - they're the funeral flowers."

Katya Week #3 - "Graveyard"
I re-read: Blood on Silk by Marie Treanor. (Book one in the Awakened by Blood Trilogy) Blood on Silk (Awakened by Blood, #1) by Marie Treanor

I gave it 4.75 stars...again-I still agree! Wow, What a terrific Book. An academic studying Romanian folk lore comes across the crypt of an ancient vampire who was staked in the 1600's and unintentionally awakens him. He is bent on destroying his old enemy's, gaining political control of his area and the world and wants to kill his "Awakener."

Saloman plays cat and mouse with Elizabeth as he stalks her. He wants to kill her to gain the power back that she holds for awakening him. She, with her vampire slayer friends, hunt him with the intent on destroying him and rid the world of something evil. As far as Vampires go he is ruthless and semi-evil....but he is hard to hate.

These two fight their attraction for one another. I love one love scene near the end of the book after a crazy fight scene (war) where she raises her arm with stake in hand and in that split second realizes she loves him and instead of staking him, they end up making love....where she sadly tells him that when the morning comes that they will go back to being enemies and what they have now....in this moment, will be over. He nods and kisses her...telling her to make the most of the time before dawn....then he whispers in her ear: "But, Elizabeth, what we have, what is between us, will never be over."

Oh, this is a fantastic story...I am going to start book two soon to continue this story.

My Weekly Point:
Graveyard is on the cover.

For 3 Extra Points:
Castle (Pg.28) "The vampire sat on a boulder that had once formed part of the castle that Dmitrui had spoken of."
Nudity (Pg.78) "Oh, Jesus Christ, She'd just gone to sleep in the nude."
Vehicle other than a car-Airplane (Pg.52) "You explained airplanes on our journey here-noisy but effective vehicles, though bad for the environment."

Nudity,"I was still as naked as I'd been when we fell asleep"

As in post 303.

This was a re-read for me, (for the third or fourth time) I still love all that is Bones and Cat! They are a great couple, even through all the arguments and trials and tribulations of this book. #4 in the continuing Night Huntress series. A great read, with loads of excitement, a good story line, and great characters. As usual, we get Bones' humor along with the drama, although i have to admit in this book I really found his inner Bastard came through, although it took a couple of times of reading it to really notice. I think the first time I read it, I was just blinded by his beauty!! LOL Date completed, 20/7/12

Lina Sorry for the lack of posts folks. I've had family visiting this week, so access to computer time has been minimal.

Just out of curiousity, I wanted to ask... I already have my Graveyard item for the week from last week's book, but I started to read Nightwalker (Dark Days, #1) by Jocelynn Drake so I could score some extra items... I know I wont finish it by the end of this week, but seeing as I started reading it for this item, can I include any items found in it if I finish it next week?

Amy, since we are about to start our fourth week you might want to consider trying a different book? I know that when I can't get into a book...it can be difficult to complete it if the interest is not there. Why not choose another book? If you need suggestions I did post a whole pile of "tree" books that either have trees in them or on the cover.

I would like to give it another shot and if it takes me as long as Grave Mercy did, then I would consider it. At the first time I read this, I was more swamped with library books and felt I had to rush to read this. I haven't placed holds on that much new library books lately so I don't have as many books out as before.

No you don't have to read in the order they were called.
You just can't start it until after it is called.
