The first was written when someone I love was going through an ugly divorce. The second, just recently, at a workshop, when the poet leading it suggested we write a poem in homage to Cesar Vallejo, a famous Peruvian poet. Black, White is perhaps his most well-known poem.

The Wedding Cake is eerie. The ax in the corner was down right scary. Black, White I will have to digest some more. The last line was so poignant for me.

Love the ending "black ash, white snow" as well as the pills and the sweetness of pears bit.

Both poems use repetition to great advantage. Nice work, Ruth!

Wax-white lilies make me think of death.....which it seems to be about....of a sort.....
