First Romance Novel Read (that you can remember): The Mallen Girl by Catherine Cookson

Favorite Food: Chicken, Mexican
First Romance Novel Read (that you can remember): The Taming by Jude Deveraux
Favorite Romance Genre: Historical Romance
Finished the line: I know I'm a book addict because....a)My TBR is over 100 and I keep buying books every month, b)I decided to reduce sleep by 1 hour each night to have more time to read, c)I will immediately pick up a new book if I finish the one I'm reading before 11 p.m. and d)I usually don't pick up the phone when I'm home reading.

But even though I read more (thanks to GR and this group) my TBR is still expanding. It's hopeless in my case... If I just could NOT add new stuff all the time, it all would be fine.
Hope you'll do better than me.

Hello all! You will find me on Amazon forums, mostly in mystery and erotic romance. The romance forum has some hard core fans so I mostly keep my mouth shut. I'm also on PaperbackSwap forums for romance, paranormal (romance and non-romance), and mystery. I am Reacherfan, Reacher Fan or Reacherfan1909 on all locations. My name refers to Jack Reacher, the character created by Lee Child, this years President, Mystery Writers od America. I also have a blog where I review books, mostly romance, romantic suspense, mystery and erotic romance. Wave if you see me.

I haven't read a Lee Child book yet, although I'm curious about Jack Reacher. I first heard of him as Z's favorite book character (Z or Zsadist is a book character in Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series), and since Z is a fave of mine, I'm curious about why he like such a character.
Jack Reacher literally walked off the pages of noir mystery thrillers in a book titled The Killing Floor by then first time author Lee Child. It was amazing. Admittedly, his syntax could - and still can - be annoying, but Reacher became an iconic character almost immediately. He is the ultimate loner hero - part Shane, part High Plains Drifter, part Kwai Chang Caine, and part Death Wish. He's a former MP that's a West Point graduate and all around tough guy and natural investigator. As he wanders he gets drawn into different situations. He is, by choice, a wanderer.
Lee Child allowed the books to slip in quality since One Shot, and his Nothing to Lose cause a firestorm of negative feedback from fans that he got very nasty about. Talk about UGLY! There are people on Amazon that will never buy him again. I came very close myself, but I did buy and read Gone Tomorrow, released last month and it was solid, back to his One Shot level, but not up to The Killing Floor.
The Amazon forums have too much promotion on some threads. A part of me understands that. Authors have a tough time getting people to try new reads, so it isn't easy making a living these days, but most promote books that are not what's being looked for.
I read voraciously and have for decades. Reacher and John Rain - Barry Eisler's brilliant assassin - are two of my favorite action mystery thriller type characters. When I chose a screen name, I found the one I was famous (or infamous) for on Trip Advisor was already taken, so on book forums I decided to take the name of a favorite character. So here I am, ReacherFan. I'm not 6 feet 5 inches of all muscle with short blond hair and a penchant for violent action, but I manage. :-)
PS - I have not read the BDB, but I have two of Ward's novels in my TBR pile.
