Birthday: December 9
Favorite Color: Blue and green, especially combinations of the two
Favorite Food: Today, flat bread pizza
First Romance Novel Read (that you can remember): A Nothing Town in Texas Oh my lord, I haven't thought of this in ages, but I remember it clearly. I think I was 11, maybe, and I was already reading at a high school level and devouring books at such an alarming rate that A. my parents couldn't keep up to censor my reading, and B. I'd run out of "kid" books to read, and I found this at the library. Boy was I shocked. I think it was a while before I read another romance. My second was Desire by Amanda Quick.
Favorite Romance Genre: I will read anything, but I guess I am more likely to purchase paranormals.
Finished the line: I know I'm a book addict because my life is defined by the following quote: “When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes.” Desiderius Erasmus

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments I guess I'd better get in on this too :)

Birthday: December 30
Favorite Colour: Jewel tones
Favorite Food: Thai
First Romance Novel Read (that you can remember): No idea - would have been from my mother's bookshelf - probably something from Danielle Steele or Catherine Cookson or a Mills & Boon.
Favorite Romance Genre: Paranormal, historical and recently I'm starting to get more into romantic suspense.
Finish the line: I know I'm a book addict because … I used to stitch every night in front of the tv but now I prefer to read, and; I am pretty much on a first name basis with the security guard and staff at my local Borders because I am in there so often adding to my ever increasing library at home.

Pamela Lindsey (pmlindsey) | 6 comments Hey all you addicts...I am right there with you!
My name is Pam (only my mother calls me Pamela). I read my first "romance" through 10th grade Chemistry class! (I made an "A"!) It was a hand-me-down Joanna Lindsey and I was hooked. Read everything I could get my hands on...historical, modern, Christian...you name it. My husband hates moving because I have two HUGE boxes of books and now my kids are adding to it with their own collections!

My 46th(hard to believe) birthday is September 22nd!
I love blue...(got that through the genes--everything my maternal grandmother owns has blue in it!)

My favorite time of year is fall for dozens of reasons..cooler weather...blue sky mornings and crisp evenings...football (college and high school)...and the apple crisp my mother used to make!

I ALWAYS have a book started or two or three! Does anyone keep one in their purse? Or is it just me? I've recently discovered Sandra Brown and Nora Roberts...(where have they been all my life?!)

I am wide open to new book suggestions and know the used book store owner by name! LOL

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments Hi Pamela and welcome to the group :)

Yes, I carry a book in my handbag all the time. You just never know when you are going to get stuck waiting somewhere!! I'm spending quite a lot of time reading in my car in the school carpark waiting for my kids to finish school at the moment. I have to get there a good half hour before they let out if I want to get a park. Reading has helped me retain most of my sanity *grin*.

Hey Mel...thanks for the welcome! I agree with reading helping keep me sane...especially when my kids were younger and I was always somewhere with them! I did a lot of reading while they were practicing and such!

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments Welcome, Tara :) You sound like me in a bookstore - I go in looking for particular books on my wish list but usually come out with something completely different - lol!

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Birthday: 2/24/69
Favorite Color: changes often, but currently probably the color of an angry sea with flecks of gold.
Favorite Food: again changes often. Right now I could go for rare ahi tuna with a tequilla raspberry glaze
First Romance Novel Read (that you can remember): a Harlequin Blaze.
Favorite Romance Genre: contemporary all the way
Finished the line: I know I'm a book addict because I always have a book with me. Cargo shorts, back pocket of jeans, camera bag, wherever. Also, when I bought our first house, the biggest reason for picking it was the floor to ceiling bookshelves lining the family room walls. When we moved, I had more than 40 boxes of books.

message 374: by Mel W (new)

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments Welcome! 40 boxes of books!! Wow! Actually, I can picture me with that many by the time we are ready to pack up and head back to the home country :)

message 375: by Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (last edited Sep 23, 2009 04:46AM) (new)

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments The sad part is that we had a pipe break last January and I lost 40% of them in the aftermath. I took half of what was left and drove them over to Half-Priced Books to sell.

I realized that I hadn't gotten out more than half dozen books from the boxes in the nine years we've lived in our current house. Why was I keeping them? Some sort of trophy collection?

Even though I said I wasn't going to start hoarding them as I was, and I have been giving/trading them with friends, I still have maybe 100 more books than at the start of the year. Good thing it is a big house.

And Mel, I would hate to have to pay the freight shipping all of those books back to Australia.

message 376: by Mel W (new)

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments Oh no! Water and books just do not mix :)

I find it really hard to part with my books although if I will part with them if I can't get into them. I'd much rather have that space taken up with a book that I will read and/or re-read :)

And I'm hoping my husband's company will cough up the freight costs - lol!
