Taraa | 19 comments I just finished The Fever Series, SO good! But I'm now in need of more books. I have a few I'm looking at, but I like 1st person narative more ... Makes it hard finding great series.

I've read series like Sookie Stackhouse, Queen Betsy, Glory St. Clair, Night Huntress, Jane Jameson, etc.

Someone help ! It's a 4 hour drive !! thanks

Lisa (lisamessegee) | 120 comments I'm not usually into 1st person POV, but I this series is very good from what I've read. There's a lot of deapan humor in it.

First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson #3) by Darynda Jones Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet (Charley Davidson, #4) by Darynda Jones

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) Wow Jenne... if it's right under Fever then I have to get my hands on it... going to download it now :)

YAY!

message 7: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 368 comments They really are great if the first one seems strange to you please don't give it up yet. I personally liked the first one but I know a lot of other people weren't sure about it. Then when they read the others they were in love with it!

message 8: by Taraa (new)

Taraa | 19 comments I started Moon Called, I'm not far into it but its hard to get into..

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments Taraa, don't give up on it yet! It is a great series and each book gets better and better!

One of my favorite PNRs is the Savannah Coven Series. A wonderful sisterhood mixed with magic and romance. It gets better with each book!
Whisper of a Witch (The Savannah Coven #1) by Suza Kates Conviction of a Witch (The Savannah Coven #2) by Suza Kates Binding of a Witch (The Savannah Coven #3) by Suza Kates Haunting of a Witch (The Savannah Coven #4) by Suza Kates

message 11: by Deana (new)

Deana (dstom) | 19 comments The Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. Similar, in some respects, to the Mercy Thompson series (Moon Called is the first there): not overloaded with sex, the relationship develops gradually over several books, but good action and kick-ass h (not just the H) who can actually take care of herself and is NOT TSTL.

Dante Valentine and Jill Kismet series by Lilith Saintcrow for the same reason. Love the way this woman tells a story. No leaps in logic (i.e., logic doesn't fly out the window just because it's a female that's thinking), just a nice, tight story.

message 12: by Dee (new)

Dee (phonebooklady) I have just started listening to books. I am finding Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger a very good series to listen too.

message 13: by Christie (new)

Christie | 1 comments I second the Kate Daniels Series. So good!

message 15: by Jaxxon (new)

Jaxxon | 2 comments Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost This series is one of my faves....great romance and I laughed out loud many times :) There are 6 books so far and a couple spin off series

Nannie Katherine "MiMi" (infamousmimi) | 37 comments The only romance I get are from books. Haven't dated in two years. TMI! LOL! I can't wait to read them. Thank you so much.

message 17: by Resa (new)

Resa (toraresa) | 9 comments I totally agree with the Kate Daniels series, They are kinda a quick read but are really good. Another one is laurell k hamilton. Her Anita Blake series is really good and there are tons of books. also there is her Merry Gentry series which isn't as dark but is really good too.

message 18: by Taraa (new)

Taraa | 19 comments I started the Anita Blake series, got a few books in and I just couldn't read anymore.. Maybe in a few years I'll try again. I decided on 50 Shades of Grey lol, almost done them.. SO I'm going to Re-Read The Hobbit.. Then look on here and get some books from all of these great suggestions.

Michelle Scott (michellescottfiction) Dee wrote: "I have just started listening to books. I am finding Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger a very good series to listen too."

I agree with that series! I also really enjoyed
Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison . And if you like YA City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare is good (and it was on sale for $.99 on Kindle recently).

message 20: by Marybeth (new)

Marybeth (luvtientl) | 5 comments I absolutely LOVE everything written by Jeaniene Frost. If I had a 4 hour trip, I'd definitely look for Halfway to the Grave. After that series, check out her spin off series... first, First Drop of Crimson and after those, get Once Burned. Her books are made of awesome!

message 21: by Mercy (new)

Mercy Walker | 19 comments New Books...Well, you can't go wrong with Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series, or Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles. They are both fabulous!

message 22: by Natasha (new)

Natasha McNeely (nrfarrell) | 14 comments If you like Night Huntress, then I recommend Ilona Andrews' books. The Kate Daniels series is written in first person narrative.

Magic Bites is the first book.

Her other series is also great, though third person narrative.

On The Edge is the first book. :)

message 23: by Beth (new)

Beth (beth0905) | 2 comments Pleasure Unbound

I just finished these two related series .. around 8 books or so in under 2 weeks. So I highly recommed it. Especially if you stick through the first book.. they're *really* good.

message 24: by Thea (new)

Thea Sofie (tisifi) I loved the Sookie Stackhouse series. Other series that i like are:
Vampire Academy, The Darkness Rising, The black dagger brotherhood and argenau is veryyy sexy and funny, a lot like The black dagger brotherhood. Good luck :)

message 26: by Emma (new)

Emma Meade (emmameade) | 8 comments Tegan's Blood and Tegan's Return by L.H. Cosway are fast-paced and enjoyable reads. They're told in the first person, present tense.
Highly entertaining.

message 27: by Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) (last edited Jul 23, 2012 02:13PM) (new)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Any of Molly Harper's are hilarious. You might also check goodreads events for wherever you are going in case there are any book signings (ditto for event pages on websites of whatever bookstores are there).

I like Molly's books but definitely chick lit, lighter side of PNR vs gritty urban fantasy.

message 28: by Susan (new)

Susan Cartwright (susancartwright) If you like Science Fiction you can't go past Lois Mcmaster Bujoid. There is a bit of romance, but mainly a really good story set in the future. If you want romantic SF I go for Cathrine Azaro. She is really terrific. For vampires I enjoyed the black dagger brotherhood. It was weird but she doesn't ever use an exclaimation mark - not once. I got used to it, but still missed exclaimation marks! (see?) Heh.

message 29: by Mariana (last edited Jul 26, 2012 09:53PM) (new)

Mariana (mrav) | 2 comments The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series is really good and fast to read. I have not been able to put the books down.
Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) by J.R. Ward Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4) by J.R. Ward Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) by J.R. Ward Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) by J.R. Ward Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. Ward Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward Lover Unleashed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #9) by J.R. Ward Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #11) by J.R. Ward
There are 11 books total but they are easy and fast to read. For those of us that like the romance and the supernatural, they are very good.

I never even noticed the lack of exclamation points, but I did notice a distinct lack of question marks. And it irritated me to no end.

I know I'm late to this thread, but have you read Jeanne Stein? She writes the Anna Strong series, all in first person, present tense. Very well done (one or two of her books have been on the NYTimes lists... Here is one of them:

The Becoming (darn it, how do you get the cover there? Trying again...)
The Becoming (Anna Strong Chronicles, #1) by Jeanne C. Stein

message 36: by Taraa (new)

Taraa | 19 comments Oh I love this ! doesn't matter how late you are aha. I'm always traveling and I read a book in a few hours so I need all I can get... I will deff look into the Jeanne Stein.

message 37: by Marne Ann (new)

Marne Ann Kirk | 14 comments Well, you'll have to tell me what you think of Stein, Teraa. The series isn't romance, it's UF, but it's good.

message 38: by CeCe (new)

CeCe | 5 comments I just finished A Discovery of Witches and it had a Fever feeling. Very slow moving romance, lots of stormy undercurrents yet to be reveiled and tension galore. The second in the trilogy came out recently but I haven't read it yet so I'm not sure where it will go.
