How many of you guys think that Bella actually fell in love with Jacob and was willing to leave Edward in the end of the boook?I do. I don't remember much of what she said to Jacob but to me it seem like she was being sincere about her feelings.

I think she did fall in love with Jacob, but I don't think it was on the same level as her love for Edward. I don't think she ever considered leaving Edwards for Jacob. I believe Jacob would always be a consolation prize for her.

when she kisses jacob she sees her future with him. She loved both Edward and Jacob, but she loves Edward more. She even tells edward (i think) at one point that she didn't realize she loved him (jacob). Edward even sat with her as she cried for a day or so about letting jacob go. Nonetheless, she was never willing to leave edward; her love for him was stronger than Jacob.

Natalie is correct, she is in love with both of them, but she was so deeply in love with Edward that her love for Jacob could never compare. I think Jacob says it best at the end of Eclipse: "I see that you can’t live without him now. It’s too late. But I would have been healthier for you. Not a drug; I would have been the air, the sun...but I can't fight with an eclipse" Hence the title.

I think she did fall in love with Jacob, I mean they would be soul-mates if Edward wasn't made into a vampire, but the bond that Bella and Edward had was stronger then a soul-mate bond.

Yes Bella loves Jacob and they are soul mates. It broke my heart to read about Bella picturing the life she would have had with Jacob if Edward was not in the picture. Jacob is that best friend kind of soul mate. That person that understands you better than anyone else in your life. That person you can laugh with and want to wake up to for the rest of your life. Which is all well and good and a wonderful life to have, unless....you meet the kind of soul mate that Edward is. Their love goes beyond the normal. It shouldn't have even been able to exist because Edward should be long dead. It is intense and wonderful and romantic and undeniable. It is almost indescribable. Once Bella was faced with that kind of love, there was just no way that Jacob could ever make her happy when she knew that Edward was an option. But that doesn't mean she loves Jacob any less, she just loves Edward more.

Bella wants to believe that she is not in love with Jacob , but she is. Like vicki said , Jacob and Bella are soul mates. They were meant to be together. They have known each other since they were kids, Jacob is the person that bella was made for, but Edward is her true love, he is the person she would give anything to be with. Even though the chances of Edward and Bella meeting each other was utterly impossible, she managed to find him. He holds a special place in her life, that nobody could ever replace. Alot of people think that Bella is selfish for loving both Jacob and Edward but she can not help it, Jacob is her best friend, and she loves him, but it might be more than just a friendship. Edward is her love though, it is true that Jacob's and Bella's relationship could never compare to her's with Edward, she knows she loves Edward more, and and so does Edward,but Jacob is trying to convince himself that he and Bella could have a future together. Jacob is who Bella would fall in love with is she was just a regular human, but she is not. Jacob brings Bella back to humanity, and they are so much alike. Edward is so much older than Bella, and if vampires didn't exist he would not be alive. He is a old man truly and it's a little creepy when you think about 18 year old Bella dating somone who is 5 times older than her, but again Bella is not just a normal human like Jessica for example. She loves Edward for what he is, and not hi does she loves, she loves all the cullens, they are her family, and she belongs with them. :D

Bella did love Jacob but it really wasn't romantic love, like what she felt for Edward. At all. She felt very strong connections to him that she couldn't understand and which confused her. The fact that those feelings continued after she had made her decision, and even after her marriage, confused her even more.
However, Stephenie made it quite clear in Breaking Dawn, what it had all been about, when Renesmee was born.

I think in the end she really loved Edward as her boyfriend and Jacob as her best friend.

I believe even though Bella loved Jacob, she was not in love with him, Bella's soulmate was definitely Edward, he's lived for 100 years without being in love with anyone until he found Bella, and the only reason, Bella was even remotely attracted to Jacob, was after Edward left and she was heartbroken, but at no point even with Edward gone did she entertain the idea of being in a relationship with Jacob. I agree with Elizabeth, she loved Jacob as her best friend, and definitely didn't want to lose him, he was all she had after Edward and his family left, and he helped her through a rough part in her life, but from the beginning it was clear she always wanted to be with Edward, when she told him she couldn't be without him, and never to leave her.

I honestly think she fell in love with him in New Moon b/c he was there for her when Edward wasn't, he filled a void. but it wasn't enough for her to leave Edward and be with Jake. The only reason she kept denying she loved him in Eclipse was b/c she knew it wouldn't change anything. Like she said in New Moon "Don't make me choose b/c it'll be him, it's always been him" So yea she was in love with him but she was more in love with Edward.

I have never believed that Bella loved Jacob. I think this is proven many times. She never wants to leave Edward for Jacob, even in New Moon Bella had no romantic interest in Jacob. She used him to fill the void in her life, but not romantically. She never wants to kiss him, until he threatens to kill himself, which she believes he is going to do. she says "kiss me" because that is what he wants to do to her. I think it is clear that no manipulation would of needed to happen if she loved Jacob. I think she cared for him as a friend and she felt bad that he loved her. I dont think she loved him.

I do believe that Bella fell in love with Jacob BUT I don't think the love was the same as she shared with Edward and so she couldn't leave him.

I would totally be interested in knowing though how the story would change if she had chosen Jacob...especially cause it means that Reneesme wouldn't exist...so I wonder.... :)

The entire Eclipse installment was Stephenie's long symbolic way to make a point. There is more than one way to love someone. Though Jacob loved her in a romantic way, she loved him as a brother, and always would. He kept pestering her and pestering her making her confuse those different types of love. There is a difference between love and BEING IN love. Bella was IN love with Edward, and still loved Jacob. The entire point of that book was to prove that there was nothing wrong with that. That's one reason why Edward didn't hate that she kissed him, because he knew that she loved him differently than she loved Jacob and always would while Bella herself still had not figured it out and Jacob was trying to change that.

Like a brother? No...she pictured having a life with him, raising a family.

You know what I hated? The way the movie basically skimmed over the scene with Bella and Jacob at the end. They didn't even include her driving from the pack's territory and breaking down. Her heart broke that night, and the movie totally glossed it over. It pissed me off

I really hated how Bella was with Jacob in this book. I felt as if she was two timing.

Her kiss for him was more of a motivation for him to no go get HIMSELF killed. He kind of implied & threatened it because he was so angry with the fact that Edward and Bells were now engaged...so she wanted to give him something-anything-to motivate him to not do something rash and thus....the kiss. :) But she was definitely down for him going around killing people-well the newborn vampire people anyway. :)

She did without even realizing and she didnt wanted to hurt them both.But she had alredy made her decision and she didnt wanted to reverse it she stuck to her only decision but she considered him to be her "Mechanical friend".

I have read it 3 years ago and the luv between Bella & Jacob still bothering me this relationship between them is unique Is that true love? so wt about Edward?
