What did you think of it?

message 2: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Love, love, love this book! I really liked Sam. I was glad she wasn't the typical "good" girl main character.

Jessica (Goldenfurpro) (goldenfurproductions) | 3160 comments I seriously actually cried at the ending :'(
I guess I just wanted everything to be all happy and dandy....
I know
I'm lame

message 4: by Vrushali (new)

Vrushali (vrushali_m) | 9 comments kind of liked it...
though no 'happily ever after'...

message 5: by Jenny (new)

Jenny That's a big reason why I liked it, and I cried too!

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

I liked it a lot, maybe even better than Delirium, but they were so different I can't really compare them!

message 7: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte (lolottemx) | 1 comments Loved it! Although I wanted more Sam/Kent interaction...

message 8: by Annie (new)

Annie (anniebibananie) Loved Kent, but I HATED Sam. It was hard to read this book at first because I didn't like her at all. This book was really good, though, and the ending was completely excellent. For hating the main character so much, I really enjoyed this book.

message 9: by Katie (new)

Katie Chambers (dsrt16) | 10 comments I didn't understand why Kent liked Sam. Though the book itself did not satisfactorily address this issue, I have my own ideas based on context. Sam craved popularity and so changed her personality to match that of the popular girls, but Kent knew the real her, and knew that the real her still existed underneath all her bs. While this explanation makes sense, I wanted the author to explore that more...to show the real her that Kent saw.

The ending was a little confusing, but I gathered that Juliet lived though I am not sure how Sam's sacrifice would prevent her from just trying to commit suicide on another day.

message 10: by Winnie (new)

Winnie G (thebookassassin) | 12 comments Kent was cool...Sam is not ._____."
The book was a bit confusing, and I had the almost the same questions as Katie did~ Honestly it got a little boring towards the middle, just because the story was repeating the same day over and over.

Kelly on my to read list but the way you guys are talking im gonna have to speed it up so i can read it

message 12: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 0 comments This wasn't a book I would recommend to a friend. It just wasn't a page turner for me. I was struggling to get through the book. I really wanted to like it more than I did.

I liked Kent and thought he had an amazing personality and big heart. He saw the real Sam and knew that making new friends and the whole politics of high school can change who you hang out with and your attitude towards others. Sam needed to fit in and feel "cool" by her peers. I guess in retrospect she realized that some of those things don't even matter in the end.

I didn't like how the story kept repeating the day over and over. I know why the author did this but it was quite boring for me. I wish it was written a different way. I was tired of reliving the same day over with Sam. I guess that's why the ending wasn't a big shocker to me. I kept thinking she'll just do it all over again if she needs to.

The ending just wasn't satisfying for me. I wish Juliet could have been saved some other way.

Ifrah (infinitebooklist) | 14 comments Okay, so i started reading this book last month and I just couldn't get through it. I read maybe a quarter of it and gave up. Maybe it wasn't a good time to read it or maybe I was burned out from reading so much at the time. I don't know what it was but after reading these comments I think I need to go finish it.

message 14: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Li | 3 comments Honestly one of my favorite books of all time, so thought provoking and beautifully written. I loved Sam and all the layers to her, I loved exploring all sides of her throughout the 7 days. Lauren Oliver blew me away with this first novel, and I loved Delirium equally. Probably why she is one of my favorite YA writers!

message 15: by Ela (new)

Ela I just finished this and I had to drag myself through it. I hated Sam, hated her friends, got annoyed at the circular plot, even as I'm writing this I'm struggling to remeber why I gave it a two and not a one.
I did like the conversation with Anna in the bathroom and the fact that no matter her efforts sarah was still late.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

This book surprised me a lot because I read Delirium before and was expecting something similar to Delirium (well, not really similar, but in the same realm, if you know what I mean), but it turned out to be completely different! I can comfortably say that if I didn't know the author of the books I would have said that they were two different authors. Which I think is great of Lauren Oliver because I don't like authors who all of their books are the exact same.

message 17: by Fatima (new)

Fatima It was amazing!! I fell in love with this book and couldn't stop reading. I experienced all kinds of feeling while reading and the ending was really heartbreaking (i cried a lot). I didn't like Lindsay a lot and Sam is a great character. This is a book that everybody should read!!!

message 18: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) I finished this book days ago. It was alright. I like it, but I got bored on repetition of events. Trying to correct and discover things in a day or I should say the last day of your life. I feel like, you should have done this before.

Her realization kicks in, which I like. At least she learned a lesson. But like I said, she should have correct things earlier. Time is precious and shouldn't be wasted.

message 19: by Anida (new)

Anida | 3 comments Umm I really liked the book. Despite this I didn't like the girls. But it's like I didn't need to. Sam started off in a bad place and she went to a worse place pretty soon because she was getting desperate and questioning a lot of things. she got better when she stopped trying to get everything the way it was. She found out that things were shitty and she had been too. Kent was lovely and he played a major role because it reminded her of herself when things were simplier and she was better. So she made a huge sacrifice but she was not bitter. she had put her life together and had loved better and been better in her last couple of days than she had in years.
She accepted it all.

message 20: by Shawna (new)

Shawna | 9 comments I read this book earlier this month and did not care for it one bit. I read some good reviews on it so I kept hoping that it would get better. I probably would have stopped reading it if I had borrowed it but since I paid to own a copy, I finished it. At least I bought it used. I will be selling my copy back to the store.

message 21: by Marybeth (new)

Marybeth (narutofan14) I loved this book. Thought it was good

Abida Mim | 3 comments This book was beyond amazing! I loved the characters. The ending made me sob!

message 23: by Shy (new)

Shy (shyanner) I did not like this book at all. It was so hard for me to get through it. I would not recommend this to a friend, it got tiring after a while.

message 27: by gam s (new)

gam s (Haveyouread.bkk) (siyxx) I read this book without really knowing what it's about. I ended up liking it a lot. I think it was really good.

message 28: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey Swieringa | 6 comments I really liked this book all except for the ending. it was just kind of confusing for me. well really confusing for me. I had to read the ending like five times and then watch book reviews about it to understand the ending. I loved sam and how she used to be the mean popular girl and how she turned into someone that actually grew to like the underdogs. I think this book also had a good lesson of if you were stuck in the same day, what you would do differently. but it also you can't go back in time and change your life so make sure to live your life well.

message 29: by malayna (new)

malayna (malaynachang) | 81 comments I liked this book, but it wasn't my favorite. I don't remember what I rated it though, but I don't think it was a five stars. I liked the movie better, if I had to say truthfully.

message 30: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 6 comments I am absolutely obsessed with this book! I loved the main character and the romance, and how it showed how much people can change because of fortune or misfortune.

message 31: by Nicolina (new)

Nicolina | 6 comments I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!
But I hate the ending...

message 32: by Maisy_Day23 (new)

Maisy_Day23 | 15 comments Not happy with the ending, it was kinda like a slap in the face. BAM! And then there was nothing. Idk I was just hoping that when it said "miracle one" and "miracle two" that she would like wake up in the hospital or something. I mean, if she can re-live a day 7 times in a row, anything is possible. I just think it would have added a mystical element to the story, which I think would have made the ending more interesting and appealing.

message 33: by hedda (new)

hedda (heddiling) | 17 comments All I can remember is that it made me cry...

message 34: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (horsesrule2000) | 4 comments I cried at the end but i had to force myself to read it. I liked it but I think it was a bit drawn out.

message 35: by Nkisha (new)

Nkisha This book a slow burner, but had some good moral lessons in it. I really enjoyed it even tho it took me ages to finally read it.

message 36: by L.C. (new)

L.C. Perry | 202 comments It took me a while to get into it since I didn't like the main character at first, but I ended up loving it and I cried at the end too

message 37: by Farren (new)

Farren (mmmcookies) | 302 comments I have a kind of love-hate relationship with Lauren Oliver, but this is definitely my favorite of her books. I also really enjoyed the movie, too. I think because it seemed less repetitive than the book. A few things were left out, (view spoiler) but overall they nailed the important stuff. I'm surprised it has a pretty low rating.

message 38: by Aliyaa (new)

Aliyaa Pathan I LOVE THIS BOOK. I read it roughly two years ago and still am not over how amazing it was! It was so different from your usual reads and had so much more meaning to it. The change that Sam went through was such a beautiful thing to see and the ending made me cry ;(
For a lot of people, this book was terribly stretched and drawn out. It was repetitive, I'll admit, but I kind of like that.
I haven't gotten a chance to see the movie, though I want to.

message 39: by Luna (last edited Jun 22, 2017 05:34AM) (new)

Luna Can't wait to see the movie! Let's hope it's as good as the book!

Ella (Marauder's Version) The Book Monster | 14 comments Fabulous book! I haven’t read anything like it yet (there are probably ones similar to it that I haven’t read yet tho!). I expected it to end happily, but unfortunately it didn’t 😔
